Thanks for the great tutorial. I was able to remove the hard drive from the laptop and install in an external drive. I would never have figured out how to "unsnap" the case without your instruction about using a credit card to release the clips.

hello great video but just a quick question how would i add more disk space or make more disk space because I've almost used all of mine already and I'm unable to download a game I've purchased.
If it is the exact same model as the one I show in the video then you could either replace the existing 2.5" drive with a higher capacity one or add an M.2 SSD as well as the existing 2.5" drive.
I bought the l340 gamer and tried to put a ssd m2, but the notebook does not recognize the ssd, could tell if I need to put a drive or if there is a specific ssd m2 for him
I don't think I've ever seen a company limit the m2 drive that can be used. You can't just put in the m2 and have it start up - you need to make sure you have installed windows or an operating system on the drive once you put it into the computer. Or if you are using it as a second drive you will need to use disk management to tell the operating system to format the drive.
hi my l340 laptop have a 256 gb ssd and ı want to hdd upgrade but not remove the ssd, just hdd+ssd . Is this possible? How many slots this laptop have?
If the existing SSD is an M2 / NGFF one then the hard disk slot will be empty. It's possible that Lenovo won't have left the empty SATA connector there though. The only way to find out is open it up and see if there is a spare space and a connector in the same place where I remove the hard disk on my one.
I can't seem to pry off the clips on the sides of the laptop - the front comes off easily, but the side doesn't budge at all. I've tried using a guitar pick and a credit card for this, with no success. Is applying more force a bad idea? Kinda considering just bringing it to a laptop tech now, I'm a bit scared of damaging it. All the screws are undone, I triple checked
It looks like I also had a bit of trouble. Pay attention to the direction the card is slid into the laptop to unclip the side. But if worried, don't break things and take it to someone who has experience of opening up laptops regularly. If you are putting force in, try to keep it on the underside panel rather than the palm rest / keyboard / motherboard assembly.

I have the same computer, can I plug in extra hdd
Does this laptop support Nvme?
It has an NGFF/M.2 slot but I'm afraid I do not know if it supports NVMe.
What is the size of the hdd
Dimensions or capacity?
@@freename Dimensions
Is thıs hdd 2.5" or 3.5" ?
Laptops are always 2.5
@@freename thank you😊
after doing this, there is a pop up message saying "your windows license will expire soon" but on the other hand I have licensed version with no up coming expiry. how to stop this message from coming?
Did you install from blank or did you clone your old drive? If you installed from blank did you install the correct edition of windows to match what your computer was delivered with? (E.g. Home or Pro)
How to remove dvd cover?
Undo the screws on the underside of the machine and then slide the DVD drive out.

Mine is 8GB RAM I want to upgrade it to 16GB RAM
It really helped a lot.
Core i5 or i7?
I think i5 for this version but I have an Lenovo l340-17.3 api 81ly with a ryzen 5 and radeon vega 8
No space for 2 drives? I'm buying an SSD because I can't live with this ridicusly slow. I don't really mind storage, because it's a Linux machine used only for assignments for the university and taking it there. But a 1 TB Hard Drive would be more welcome than plain 500 GB SSD.
A second drive might be possible where the DVD drive is if you use a DVD to HDD converter caddy. Doesn't always work on every computer though due to weird incompatibilities with the hard disk / DVD controller.
Poo a brick, what a mission to dismantle this thing
Yes
It's not hard to do.
Can it be done on Ideapad L340 Gaming version?. Somehow
I wouldn't have thought they were much different? Have you opened yours to see if it is the same layout?
Can i have both ssd and hdd on this device model?
If you have the headers for the hard disk and the m.2 then maybe. Or if it has the headers for the hard disk and the DVD drive you may be able to get a converter to go in the DVD slot.
@@freename the unit was installed with SSD...and there's a HDD upgrade kit. I am not just sure if that's for 'hdd installation so i can have both ssd and hdd' or if 'in case i want to replace ssd with hdd because i can't have both'
Hi, I have a lenovo laptop like this one, but 17" and GTX1650x, is it the same process? the same HD configuration?
How can I know if there is a free slot to put a new HD?
Almost certainly the same way to open it up but I don't know about the drive configuration. Some might have an m2 ssd only and no SATA header. Open it up and take a peek :D ?
@@freename Yes, there's only a SSD 256gb, so there's an empty slot to put another SATA?
when I get home I gonna take a peek, hahah thanks so much!
