You know one of the first things you two do as a couple before marriage is to find out where you going to live and in my opinion living with your mother and father or his mother and father and their family home is not a good beginning for a married couple if you cannot afford to put you in a home of your own to begin being an apartment or a house whatever then you're not ready to get married because living with in-laws usually do not work your mother-in-law viewed you as a maid and when your husband brought it up even though I understand his father had passed on and his mother was alone you could go visit spend time with her but don't move them in when you first married and don't move in with them!! If that cannot be understood before saying I do then hold off and don't say I do to that particular person!! Because that only sets up red flags and the marriage always seems to dissolve!!

Hey mom, when are you going to pay me? My hourly rate is $50/hr, but if you don't like it the rate doubles each time you deny paying me.

She said left their house? I thought she was living in Hawaii?
Edward, expected his wife to pay for the trip. He knew she was paying all household expenses, and he knew he didn’t have enough income to support himself and his mother. So why did he let his wife leave? That makes no sense.
In California you can file for a divorce without your spouse agreeing to a divorce. He will receive divorce papers and a court date.
OP had no reason not to get divorce. It does matter if he wants a divorce or not. It takes 6 months to get a divorce in California. If she making so much money he would be entitled to community property.

You are correct, he would be entitled to half of everything she had unless they both had an ironclad prenuptial document.

Hawaii is not an international call, it is a long distance one even though it is a US State!
