It blows my mind that you are wearing a beanie and talking about it being harvest season when I am sitting in Memphis TN USA in 96 degree (heat index makes it 104) with about 1000% humidity (it's really only 49% but still wow...with the heat too it's bad!) and absolutely baking when I have to come outside. The air is so heavy with the heat and humidity when you come outside it almost feels like you are walking into a brick wall. What amazes me is that watching you on video makes the world seem small but it's definitely not! Thx for another great video. I've missed you saying... "Well, it's a find." That always makes me giggle! lol
I can understand why some people like finding the coins, however for me the spindle whorl was precious. The fact that someone took the time to decorate, however crudely, this small functional item is special.
Good morning John and hellllooo Martin!!! Congratulations to Martin on his marriage and baby. I was surprised to see an Indian head penny! Good score! Absolutely love watching you dig up treasures.
Good to see Marti back with you again and the luck he had with the great finds. Never mind John your turn next time and your knowledge of tin cans is amazing 😂
Indian heads (Lady Liberty with an Indian head dress on) are seen more often than not over here in the US. But an 1885 coin in Scotland...when it would have gotten there by someone on a boat...that is a truly rare find for you indeed!! On the Hoover Boys channel they always say "We have a video" whenever they find an Indian head as they get so many. Our memorial penny is everywhere and no biggie to find. What is your no biggie coin? Maybe anything QE2?
From Alaska, USA. Congratulations Martin on your Indian Head penny, I don't think I have ever seen one before, and I know I've never found one. Good day gentleman, taikuu.
Fun fact...So, on the Indian pennies, the bust side is actually our Lady Liberty in a feather headdress. It's always nice finding something not usual to your territory. Happy hunting! 👍😁
That's what I was thinking. Somebody wore that around their neck for good luck until they lost it in a field. In Scotland. I'm always interested to try to imagine the story of how things got into the middle of a field in Perthshire.
Starting my Birthday weekend off right in the fields of Perthshire!! Great to have Marty back with some incredible finds. 🎉Gorgeous George showing up in style 🕺🏻
Greetings from Lanzarote! My dad is with me on holiday from Perthshire and got me hooked on your channel - we were wondering if you have found many Roman artifacts as there was a Roman marching camp at Blackhills? Love your interesting and educational commentaries for the videos - you need your own TV show!! Many thanks for posting👍🏼
Interesting wear on the inner edges of Marty's beautiful spindle whorl. Lovely to see Marty on the field and that you are no longer "Johnny no mates" ha ha. Better luck on future digs, have a good week, cheers
Great finds, Martyn. I can tell you both had fun, I usually always do myself, even with cans, screws and modern pennies. Good luck at Detectorville, and I hope to see another video soon. Cheers from Texas.
Nice one Marty good to see you back out on the fields of Perthshire and congratulations on your wedding and baby. I’d be happy any day finding a George 5 and I know you are too unfortunately it was just the only decent thing you found.
From America here…Yes, detecting an Indian Head Penny here is about as exciting as it gets…next to finding old silver. Indian head finds are considered a very successful hunt. The next most exciting non-silver coin find will be the wheat “Wheatie” penny. Thanks for sharing your efforts.
Congratulations, Marty! You'll probably get a lot of comments from us over here in the USA, but the "Indian Head" penny is really a depiction of Lady Liberty not a native American! Indian Head is just a nickname because of the wild headdress she's wearing. We love your sense of humor and look forward to your videos, John!
Another great video as always John thanks for sharing congratulations to marty on marriage and family and also the Indian head penny 😀 for some reason I feel like I've already seen this video before dunno if it's just because marty is back in the fields with you or what 🤔 marty stole the show tho! Well done lads! 👏🏻
Glad you got to go out with the boy and he did a great job that's a nice spindle. Having a young family takes top priority but that's awesome he has that instilled in him. He must have been taught by a good pappa. GODBLESS AND see you fellas on the next.
Another fun vid John! 👍 Congrats to Marty but he is going to have to pull gold as those diapers and formula will break a guy!!!! Congrats again and cant wait for the next vid!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Great to see Martyn again. As much as we don't see much of the guys in the videos they are still a huge part of the fabric that supports the rusty crusty content. Cheers!
After 2am here, I may need to watch this in the morning, but just had to take a peek… love these videos. 🥰💕❤️👍👍 I would love to try to spin some yard or thread using a medieval whorl, that would be a special find for me.
Hi John … Marty get in there … nice find possible medieval spindle wheel .. oh well John shame you didn’t have as good fortune … at least Gorgeous George didn’t let you done .. Think the Indian head penny is reasonably common in America I’ve seen many a video posted by our American friends where Indian head penny’s are found .. must of been lost by a American soldier posted over here during the war perhaps .. Wishing you good fortune at detectaville
The spindle whorl find at 9.44 put me in mind of a very interesting programme on you tube by Jack Hargreaves , one of his countryways vids, where he visits a lady who still spins wool with the old spindles. Its very historically interesting if you have a spare time to watch. I cant remember which episode it is, but the lady also make buttons by emboidering them onto a bare disc as would have been done in the 18th 19th C. I think you have dug up a few of those .....minus the cotton embroidery.!!!Always very interesting watching you dig. Good luck.
That Indian head penny was probably a necklace, judging by the hole in it. I've never even found one of those, and I live in America. Nice find. Greetings from Minnesota , USA.
Way to go on the braw fields of Perthshire, my husband found a Queen Anne silver shilling, pity he belted it with his shovel BUT it was the best find of the day and he did get a bottle of whisky from the club. Alas his old Whites detector is no longer up to the job technology has overtaken it.
That's a really rare find. Because of that, someone has turned it into a necklace pendant. Make sure he does not scrub it super clean down to the metal, leave the patina on it just remove the dirt so just use a bit of water to remove the dirt and that is it! the Penny is a very nice find! Lucky Duck! If you go online the average price for one of these pennies is an average of $20 US if in good shape but since it has a hole drilled in it it'll likely be worth less but since it was found OFF the continental US but in Scotland it does add to the value to it for himself anyways. Now if it had been found in Siberia it would have made it more valuable! LOL
My name is Richard and I live in the U.S and I have a small collection of Indian head pennies and they are very rare to find here as well.. Especially ones from the1800s so he definitely has a rare find...
New to your channel (and loving it). My overwhelming question is, just how did all this stuff get there in the first place? Fascinating. Keep up the good work!
Always great to see what you find and glad Martin found some good stuff for his first outing after so long. Was wondering if you ever got any info on ' the holy grail ' you found ? 🙂
I would like to know which coil you would get with a new XP Deus 2. I see from your videos you appear to have the 11" and the 11" x 13". I am about to buy one and would appreciate your advice and why that particular one.

That Indian head penny was probably a soldiers good luck he wore on a necklace or something of the sort that's why it has a hole in it. The best is a 1877 but great find Marty
Hi John. Great viewing as always. I'm up your neck of the woods as from Saturday for 2 weeks and was wondering if it's ok to detect on St Andrews beach
The indian head penny was also known as a red cent in reference to the Indian him being a redman. Back then people would say commenting on their finances that I dont have a red cent!
@thescottishdetectorist Got it! Thank you for my new guilty pleasure........I have been binge watching your videos!!! I ❤️ the history of Scotland. The United States has some fascinating history, but nowhere close to how far back Scottish history goes! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!

I was spinning yarn on a modern supported spindle while watching this! Such a very long tradition....
@@gailstringer1158 That’s lovely Gail, it’s great that some of the older traditions are continuing.
Agree it is beautiful. 🥰
Good morning John and hellllooo Martin!!! Congratulations to Martin on his marriage and baby. I was surprised to see an Indian head penny! Good score!
Absolutely love watching you dig up treasures.
Nice Indian Head! Just discovered your channel and am impressed with the history you give along with your finds.
Back in the US when I was a kid, we used to clean copper pennies with tobasco sauce.
Around here we just eat it. ;-)
That’s a great find Marty, very old coin.
Good to see Marti back with you again and the luck he had with the great finds. Never mind John your turn next time and your knowledge of tin cans is amazing 😂
❤from Michigan 🇺🇸. 3:15am here.

Yay! Good to see you two out detecting the fields of Perthshire again. 😊
Forgot to add Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Marty on their new baby and nuptials. May your lives filled with love and happiness.
Thank you for the videos of the fields of Perthshire. Congrats to Marty on finding an Indian head penny. Value is around $15-$20 in good condition.
It's 2am here in Midwest USA. Woke up for a drink of water and I see a new video. Of course I'm now up watching!!!!
same :)
From Alaska, USA. Congratulations Martin on your Indian Head penny, I don't think I have ever seen one before, and I know I've never found one. Good day gentleman, taikuu.

And the hole means someone had it as a charm. :)
That's what I was thinking. Somebody wore that around their neck for good luck until they lost it in a field. In Scotland. I'm always interested to try to imagine the story of how things got into the middle of a field in Perthshire.
Never mind John, a nice George v. Congratulations to Marty he had the luck this time. Hopefully meet you both at detectorville.
Love the video's! I'm from Bourbon Missouri
Very uncommon to find that in America let alone in my ancestral land of Scotland... congrats and love your videos!
1885 is worth about $15 dollars in average condition but uncirculated about $100-250 American dollars
Amazing hobby. It's fun solo or with a buddy or with several buddies. Glad to see y'all are having fun! Great finds. Thanks for sharing.
Starting my Birthday weekend off right in the fields of Perthshire!! Great to have Marty back with some incredible finds. 🎉Gorgeous George showing up in style 🕺🏻

Glad to see Marty back with you. A mix of finds, but the company made it a great time I'm sure.
Looking forward to the next dig. Take care.
Great finds, Martyn. I can tell you both had fun, I usually always do myself, even with cans, screws and modern pennies. Good luck at Detectorville, and I hope to see another video soon. Cheers from Texas.

Wow, 1885 IHP… brilliant Marty and thank you John for showing us. We do find quite a few of them but each time it is a head spinner. We love them.
Indian head penny is a real nice find! ☺ God bless

Agreed!! On the Hoover Boys videos it isn't a video until someone finds an Indian Head. But across the pond it would be a very rare find!

Wow 30.5k subs now! Congrats! Another enjoyable video. Always interesting whatever is found. 😀
Martyn is a jammy swine! All of those coins, the Indian head 1 cent piece is a real beauty!
I had 4 hours detecting today. My best finds were in the first 10 mins and like you and Marty, the rest was tin cans one after another🤔👍😉
those pennies are extremely rare ,,, i have been collecting old coins my whole life and i have never seen that coin in real life ,,,, well done
Cracking video. Many thanks for creating and sharing
Great video as always, congrats to marty and family. Watching at a sensible time in Somerset. Cheers.

Well done, medieval Marty
Nice indian head penny! I imagine that coin has an interesting story to tell as to how it got to Scotland and that field! Greeting from Arizona
nice to see marty out with you show you how to find stuff john lol geart video
Your so nice giving your friends the opportunity to dig with you. But it's like giving a lottery ticket to someone.
Way to go on the braw fields of Perthshire, my husband found a Queen Anne silver shilling, pity he belted it with his shovel BUT it was the best find of the day and he did get a bottle of whisky from the club. Alas his old Whites detector is no longer up to the job technology has overtaken it.
Well found!! I had an old whites myself but it’s resigned to the spare cupboard these days! The XP deus 2 knocks it out the park!
Nice find!!
An Indian Head penny? Now its an episode xD
Well done Marty! And the Gorgeous George coins always look the best out of the ground!

In good condition it’s worth $17, unfortunately it’s beyond that at almost about good condition and worth far less if anything.
Nice find though. Congratulations on your new addition and marriage.
You should check whether or not that 1918 penny has the tiny letters KN or H to the left of the date. If so it makes it worth a few shillings.
Where’s sneaky Pete?
He’s down in England visiting family at the minute!
That Indian head penny was probably a soldiers good luck he wore on a necklace or something of the sort that's why it has a hole in it. The best is a 1877 but great find Marty
If you see a letter on the back under the one cent and wheat that will be the city it was made. Very cool find guys
I am a 60-year-old American and I have never seen one!
One question…when is Simon going to get a channel? 😎
Hi John. Great viewing as always. I'm up your neck of the woods as from Saturday for 2 weeks and was wondering if it's ok to detect on St Andrews beach
I think he's at an event, so you're probably better off calling the city hall?
I live in the US. Have only ever seen an Indian head penny in a museum.
And tell us again John, why you turned on your detector? It was The Marty Show. But seriously, congrats.
Did the bull head go to a museum?
Look back at 1min 30s is that a x marks the spot up in the clouds
morning john you early today im late lol
Many thanks Alan. Hope you enjoyed the long lie 😂
Congrats to Martin on getting Married and becoming a Father.
It’s lady liberty wearing an Indian headdress on the IHP
I really to hear the tones. Forget your headphones more often!
Indian Head pennies are extremely rare in the US, much less Scotland!
The indian head penny was also known as a red cent in reference to the Indian him being a redman.
Back then people would say commenting on their finances that I dont have a red cent!
How many are in the Scottish Detectorists?
Well technically only one! But then along came friends and colleagues Martyn, Pete, Albert and Simòn since covid!
Very expensive Indian head penny. Way to go , and very far away from US.
So to be a detectorist you have to have a screw loose Ah'll get ma ciat😊
