There truly is something enjoyable and genuine about watching a creator make things they enjoy, rather than feeling that they need to adhere to a plan dictated by a project or the algorithm. I’ve definitely noticed a significant shift in the tone of your videos since you chose to film what you love and have enjoyed these videos so much more. That’s not to say the videos were awful before-I’ve been a quiet but consistent viewer since the No Buy Year-but this year had such a spark to it that was so badly needed with how grim the world often is. Bringing more joy into the world (reading, writing, filming, wearing what you love) helps counterbalance the bleakness a lot of people feel, I think. May we all do the things that bring us joy in 2022. Hi. I had recently decided to do a no buy (color cosmetics, accessories, home decor and clothing), when I happened upon your series. After watching a few of your videos, something resonated inside of me and I am more resolved than ever to take the plunge. I will be 49 yo on 1/23 and I have two kids in private high school, with college on the horizon. you inspired me to start a beauty & clothing no buy! I don't think my spending in those categories was extreme, but I've found that I love having a small collection and using things up is just so satisfying...I want to do more of that. I started taking inventory of my makeup collection in 2020 and my collection has since gone from 132 to 62 products (through passing product along, selling unused or just swatched makeup on poshmark, and tossing out anything that went off before I could get through it, but luckily that was the smallest of the three groups by a large margin). I just really love the idea of focusing my time and admiration inward in all regards as opposed to going out and seeking something better or equally as beautiful...I've got everything I need already!

I am finished a making an oversized sweater it is so cozy. And it brings me so much joy. I also got an ukulele for Christmas and learning how to play it brings me joy. Making Winter margarita has been bringing. Sweatpants are bringing me joy

Hi. I had recently decided to do a no buy (color cosmetics, accessories, home decor and clothing), when I happened upon your series. After watching a few of your videos, something resonated inside of me and I am more resolved than ever to take the plunge. I will be 49 yo on 1/23 and I have two kids in private high school, with college on the horizon. As a part-time teacher, we have struggled with finances, yet I continued to "treat" myself with skincare and makeup. Beauty is my crack. Thank you for helping me solidify my decision. Wish me luck!

Thanks for introducing me to Brian Jordan Alvarez. The first video I chose was Lunchtime Teacher Supervisor in the South and I almost died laughing because I am a Southerner and that was so right on. Also, I love Italy because when I was there I felt that the culture is one dedicated to beauty and I love that so much.

you inspired me to start a beauty & clothing no buy! I don't think my spending in those categories was extreme, but I've found that I love having a small collection and using things up is just so satisfying...I want to do more of that. I started taking inventory of my makeup collection in 2020 and my collection has since gone from 132 to 62 products (through passing product along, selling unused or just swatched makeup on poshmark, and tossing out anything that went off before I could get through it, but luckily that was the smallest of the three groups by a large margin). I just really love the idea of focusing my time and admiration inward in all regards as opposed to going out and seeking something better or equally as beautiful...I've got everything I need already!
