- The WSET Level 2 Walkthrough - Part One
In this video series I take a detailed look at WSET Level 2
This video is all about Learning Outcome One - Understanding the environmental influences and grape-growing options in the
vineyard and how these will impact the style and quality of wine.
The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is intended for people who have little or no prior knowledge. It is suitable wherever a good level of wine knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example in the customer service and sales functions of hospitality, retailing and
wholesaling industries. It is also useful for those who have a general interest in wine and wish to broaden their knowledge.
Successful candidates will be able to describe and compare the styles of wines produced from internationally and regionally important grape varieties, interpret wine labels from the main wine producing regions of the world and give basic guidance on appropriate selection and service, as
well as understand the principles of wine tasting and evaluation.

Glad you think so! Cheers 🍷
Thank you! I passed my level 2 with help of these!🎉🎉
Congratulations. Cheers 🍷
I highly recommend that if you have not taken the WSET level 1 certification that you do that first. While you have the option to skip it and go straight to level 2. When I took level 1, online of course, it was created for people who nothing about wine at all. I learned the basics of how grapes grow, how to taste acid and sugar, how to taste tannins, the basic characteristics of common black and white grapes and the very basics of regions (ex: Châteauneuf-du-Pape are red wines with high alcohol, Cava is from Spain etc). I did two wine tasting zia zoom using the WSET level 1 SAT which teaches you to figure out what aromas , the level of sweetness, the level of acid and flavors you get from a wine. Then I learned about food pairings , how to store wine (wish they had included a suggestion guide on what temperature to keep the wine for aging), and how to serve wine.
Cheers. Did level one myself as well
@@TheGrapeExplorer This series is extremely helpful for me. I’m super nervous about the level 2 because I haven’t even finished learning all about the white grapes yet or the sparkling wines.
I am learning WSET level 2. Thanks a lot. I am learning more with you than app.

Hi! I'm from Russia. There is no such detailed description of WSET 2 in my language. Your video really helps to prepare well for the exam. Good luck to all students.

@@stpd1957 that was a while ago, took it in may now I am getting ready for my wset 3 exam in October
Hello there, Thank you for your videos, they helped me passed the WSET Level 2 with distinction at 86% of correct answers. I emailed the person who provided me with the results, requesting to know what questions I missed, and he said that the UK office don't allow to provide that information. I told them that they should be able to provide that information, in order for us to learn more and improve our knowledge by knowing what we missed. Any body here feel that this academies are already going through untrusted feeling of their reputations and when they denied easy information like that, they become not reliable like what happened to the MS of Sommeliers? I think they should provide the information to be trust, your thoughts, anyone????
they wont due to the fact that the exams are the same for many courses worldwide.....be happy with your score and move to level 3
Thank you so much. I just started my WEST level 2 hoping to get a job in the wine industry.
Best wishes
That’s amazing . It’s really helpful for me . I have my exam on 24th of January 2021

Great videos. Just wanted to mention a correction- I think you say and spell it as “Longtitude” (you say and spell it with an extra T) … you might want to correct that as ‘longitude’. 😊
You are the man

Is this video accepted by WSET? Or your original contents?
Fantastic video Andrew. Thoroughly enjoyed that one. A few questions are in level 1 but I can't wait for your second video.

This video help me a lot thank you very much, waiting for your next video
So nice of you
Thanks a lot! From Hong Kong 😉👍
Thank you too!
All plants need oxygen for cellular respiration, so technically vines need oxygen as well as CO2. Great video nonetheless, you should be hired by WSET to write their questions 😂. Although I must say, my WSET2 exam had a few trickier ones than this 🙂
Thanks for the info!
You doing a great job mate👍my test is in two weeks....
Good luck with it.
Wow! Thank you so much for your work!
Thank you very much, very helpful video
You're welcome. Best wishes for your studies
This is awesome! I'm hoping to start my course in late spring so this is right on time. Are these questions pretty close to the style and format of the exam questions?
They are similar and what I am aiming for here is to get you used to the style of questions
@@TheGrapeExplorer Perfect, thank you! Looking forward to part 2

17:56 Botrycized/botrysised? Spelling?
Are you from the US or UK. We spell words differently. Cheers 🍷🍇🍷
@@TheGrapeExplorer From the US. I've only heard "botrytized" which I thought would be "botrytised" for Brits. I guess I learned a new word. I'm assuming you spell it "botrycised."
I’d like to have a wine mentor. Is there the chance you provide 1.1 services online for WSET students ? Thanks and regards :)
Hi there. Thanks for the enquiry. This is not something I currently offer as I fit this channel around my day job.
Thanks. Love your channel. Its the best!
Thanks for watching. I'm happy to hear you enjoy it. Cheers 🍷
