Although, in the end of 2009 and early 2010, she was slowly dying down of fame but came back successfully with "California Gurls" and her album and the song "Teenage Dream". "Firework" cemented her popularity and position in the mainstream, with 3 more #1 hits in the album.
I could be wrong, but it has consistently seemed to me that during this era of music, artists were genuinely happy and would always have a blast making music videos. Kind of as if the production quality of the early generation music videos weren't that great, hence artists most likely didn't spend too motivated to work on them, or cared more about the song than the video, and these days the artists look more like they're "at work" when filming the videos, which I get since music videos are practically required/implied these days. However the artists in this particular era of music videos, seem to have a glow to them, where it looks like they're making the videos not because they have to, but rather they're having fun goofing around while filming/singing the song and not being paid to make the music video. Again, probably just my view, but this era of music definitely doesn't just hit different than today's music or the music before it, but the videos themselves are equally as unique.

I could be wrong, but it has consistently seemed to me that during this era of music, artists were genuinely happy and would always have a blast making music videos. Kind of as if the production quality of the early generation music videos weren't that great, hence artists most likely didn't spend too motivated to work on them, or cared more about the song than the video, and these days the artists look more like they're "at work" when filming the videos, which I get since music videos are practically required/implied these days.
However the artists in this particular era of music videos, seem to have a glow to them, where it looks like they're making the videos not because they have to, but rather they're having fun goofing around while filming/singing the song and not being paid to make the music video. Again, probably just my view, but this era of music definitely doesn't just hit different than today's music or the music before it, but the videos themselves are equally as unique.

I can’t believe people never realized how satirical these guys were
People are, by default, dumb and incompetent to read between the lines.
And people usually don't pay attention to lyrics beyond the chorus and maybe the first verse.
I don't remember anyone taking them too seriously... Their songs were really popular, but most people knew that the songs were just fun party anthems.
Among the people I knew, they were in the same kind of category as LMFAO (and maybe Lonely Island on a less "witty" level).
Now that I think about it, I kinda miss all of the upbeat, comical music groups that used to be around. Too many things in the world are chaotic and depressing now and newer music is really reflecting that.
