OMG yes! This is a FANTASTIC song, as you pointed out. Sheer brilliance in every way.
But wonderfully it's one of the cult songs among Pet Shop Boys fans/Pet Head... especially when they perform it in Live, everyone move their right hands and point to the front and sing Can You Forgive Her together

This song transports me back to when I had a crush on a high school girl who winked at me in the corridors when going to class each day. I wish I had the courage to ask her out back then.
The most important criterion of a unique song for me is the fact that it is almost impossible to reproduce/cover/remake the original version in a way it was created. There are so many popular songs covered by hundreds of other artists, but unique songs remain untouched, because trying to cover them may end up sounding like indignity to them. And this is a really unique song even by Pet Shop Boys high standard.
This song reminds me of a high school girl I had a crush in my teens. I was too shy to ask her out and she was dating someone else at the time. I used to play this song on my Walkman while I daydreaming about her on the school bus, and when I play this song now, it instantly gives me butterflies every time I seen her in the corridor going to class.

This was a such a magical time for UK pop and TOTP.
I always find it amusing that the single "Go West" reached top spots around the world, but "Can You Forgive Her" never got the highest respect it deserved. I remember listening to "Can you forgive her" on my Sony Walkman for several months almost every day. It still sounds great! 👍
I know right! GoWest was more of an anthem, I suppose - but this one is just as good. I think it was #1 on the US dance charts.

@@Mylca My trauma was that "One in a million" , in my humble opinion, should have been the last single. And the "potential" mixes for One in a Million would have been amazing.

When I listened to the whole album for the first time, I didn't really like that song, but then I found myself returning to the album every now and then just for that song sometimes. And here I am now, it grew on me and it's one of my favourites. Also, what do you think about the Theatre? It's a beautiful song in my opinion and, excluding the singles, it's my favourite from the album!
@@Mylca The Theatre was over produced but, again, in my humble opinion, One in a Million is over produced but the song invites to do so. I can't see The Threatre as single, sorry. Good song though. I revisit the album very often and I just changed my mind about I wouldn't normally do... Love the "simplicity" of the album version. I only see bad ideas in the mixes.. in every single..

I've always loved The Petshop Boys but seriously this video is too weird for me. I get the dunce hats and the sword wielding chicks but what's up with that giant egg?
The women are not welding swords, they are welding cricket bats.
This was sort of a computer graphics theme they had going for the album and single, the night life album, they changed them selves again into a sort of punk like figure as a change of identify, to match the darker dance theme they had.
