Hogfather is now my set Christmas book.
It’s like a funny, twisted Christmas and if you love Grimm from Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy then you’ll love Death. And everyone should meet Susan, she’s my favorite.

Hercule Poirot’s Christmas, by Agatha Christie. It’s one of my favorite Christie novels for sure, and it’s set during the holidays, so this is the perfect time of year to read it!

no correlation with your video but today I met Samantha Shannon and had the chance to tell her how much The Roots of Chaos duology means to me and that it was my first time reading about lesbians like me in fantasy 💓 thank you SO much for introducing me to The Priory of the Orange Tree right when it came out, it has truly changed my life!!

I'm reading Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik right now and it is truly the most winter-themed book possible! And I know it didn't work for you, but Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries is a close second. I was fully expecting it to be springy and botanical-- nope. All snow and ice.

Here's some favs off the top of my head
-The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave (5☆+5♡)
    -Wolf Winter by Cecilia Ekbäck
-The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec
-I Remember You by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir
-Near the Bone by Christina Henry
-The Lost Village by Camilla Sten
-Frosted by the Girl Next Door by Aurora Rey and Jaime Clevenger (new release romance that made me cry three times)
-The Kingdom of Sweets by Erika Johansen
The snowed in at a work retreat line made me think of "Truth or Dare" by Luna Fury, which is about four women snowed in at a work retreat in a 5☆ resort lodge. Its extremely smutty so they had a very good time! lol.

Some others I recommend would be the Beartown series (I know you put this one down though), Emily Wilde, The Bear and The Nightingale, The Christmas Bookshop, and A Christmas Carol of course! ❄️❤️

I am participating in an annual challenge called 52 books in 52 weeks. One of the themes for 2025's challenge is a book set in winter. I read most of the books in the video, but there are a few I didn't read. This video has perfect timing ❤

I read Moon of the Crusted Snow this fall and found it really interesting. I don't normally read a lot of post-apocalyptic stuff, but it worked for me. I'm currently reading The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz, which is a thriller involving a snowstorm. I'm about halfway through though so not sure what I think of it yet.

Love your sweater! I'm currently reading Everyone in my Family and it's fun so far. I loved Rock Paper Scissors and A Man Called Ove when I read them a couple of years back. I DNFed One by One cause the whole tech company work trip thing got boring for me.

    🎀 Merry Christmas/Joyeux Noel Emily!
OK, so i already mentioned a few weeks ago on another vid, but it's closer to Christmas now and for those looking for an audiobook Christmasy romance suggestion: "10 Things That Never Happened by Alexis Hall. *** NOTE: It's on Spotify - so you can use your 1 book a month/15 hr? book limit to listen to it. 👍
It's an adult gay romance that doesn't have the typical tropes that you tend to hate. It's also absolutely hilarious but made better if you listen to the audiobook. It's set in the U.K. - so hearing all the various accents is wonderful. The narrator even won an award for his narration.
If you need something to cheer you up & in a holiday mood, I highly recommend! 🎄

There is an advent calendar book from the „everyone in my family has killed someone“ book series. It‘s technically book 3, has only 200 pages. 24 chapters (each for one day) and you once agaim have to solve a mystery

Last winter I decided to read Christmasy romcoms because I thought it would be fun. It was...eh. In a Holidaze was part of it and while it was one of the better ones Christmas Romance and Snowed In by Catherine Walsh were the only two that I really enjoyed and would read again. I'd say they're like if Abby Jimenez was Irish and wrote a couple of holiday themed specials (they're on KU).

Dark Matter and Thin Air by Michelle Paver have some good scenery and creepy vibes. My favorite is Thin Air because it's set in the mountains (both are categorized as ghost stories)
Also, enjoyed Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik for the winter scenery and general plot (I refuse to acknowledge the romance though 🙃)

@BookswithEmilyFox as it turns out, we're even further ahead. There are some days above 0 this week, so we're already in spring.
But actually... It was +2° on Monday and everything is so slippery now.
Last week we were dealing with -35°. I'm getting whiplash.
