Yep, It is all about the fantasy for girls who don't want the idols to date. They think of the male or female idol as " theirs' and will marry them. It is very extreme for some, where they turn their back on these idols if they do date. That is a very lonely life for these idols however long they stay an idol.
@@patrice942 that’s so weird like I had a huge crush on Kai, read a lot of fanfics about him, so I would be what you would call a delulu for Kai but I still supported his relationship with Jennie 😂 jenkai actually turned me into a blink. I mean.. I was in love with Kai but I know that I only have 0,01% chance to get him, so who cares if he’s dating someone else if he’s not going to date me anyway. Do these fake fans truly think they would be married with their bia if he wasn’t with another person?
No not only ‘young’ little girls but also a lot of women in their twenties or 17-18-19 year olds. Not all young ‘fangirls’ are immature or obsessed with their idols.
@@ryeherrera7485 Where are you from? You know that Korean society is conservative... btw. You don't have rights to instruct native Koreans how to treat Kpop
@@hannahcruz6753 Agencies sell the oppa/noona image. So its easy for you to sit here and say that. But agencies need to make money from the very small korean music market so the few fans that they have are motivated to bulk buy albums if the oppa/noona image is sold to them. America has 300M people, thats enough people for each artist to have fans....but korea has 50M people...not all of them listen to idol music so idols fight for recognition from very few people. So agencies sell that image to get CF deals, album sales and fansigns. Idol business is real cut throat competition. Its more complicated than you think. Dating idols have less value and fans arent motivated to bulk buy anything from them. The best they can sale is maybe 10k or 20K copies. No CF deals for dating idols. Married idols are irrelevant because idol business is about the fantasy. UKISS member, crayon pop member, suju member, HOT member are all irrelevant after they got married. Asian culture would find it strange to ask a married idol to thrust their crotch at a fansign or to do fanservice because they are married. Remember that fanservice is what motivates fans to bulk buy albums and merch. If an idol is dating, they make less sales... that means they take a longer time to pay back their trainee fees...so they never leave that agency till they pay back. International fans dont contribute anything financially to the korean agencies so agencies cater to the korean fabs who make them the money so looking at it from an international fan's perspecrive will just frustrate you because cultures are different and the music business is done differently there
That One Button on Kookie's Shirt That Didnt Pop I 100% agree with everything you said because that’s the truth and it is a cultural thing because it also contributes to South Korea’s economy and it’s a big industry and all the things you said are statistically correct in terms of business however, my point is that it’s wrong. No matter what angle you look at it a person and their image is not something you can ‘sell’ no one has that right. I mean if fame is what they are after then that’s fair enough you have to do what you have to do right? To live out that dream but I merely said that it’s disheartening when your free will is put in someone else’s hands which is basically what you said saying that their image is sold so yes, it is easy for me to sit here and say that because one, it’s my free will and two it’s basically that. I wasn’t talking about business and whatnot, I’m just saying I feel for the artists
@Alyssa Truscott That's a different situation; big bang is an already established group and like every YG group they don't really have a hardcore dedicated fandom as they're always aim for general-public and casual fans (just look at their album sales and compare them to groups from SM or JYP or even Pledis). Basically older idols, married ones or the ones who have kids are basically out of the market and aren't as profitable as young single ones.
@@hannahcruz6753 Companies have the right to sell an image cause as soon as they sign up with the company they basically lose every right over themselves. You can look at videos or interviews from ex SM trainees and see them talk about how their contract said that they basically owned them and they had no say in anything they wanted to do with them as having plastic surgeries, weight and anything related to physical appearance. Also this other trainee talked about how they were given a PERSONALITY (literally). And there are many cases like that. Basically they create this perfect manufactured group who sells dreams and fanstasies to fans and if fans like it they just 'buy' it. And that happens every where not just in the Korea. When one direction was formed they also had an image they sold, every member had a certain "image", the 'misterous' one, the 'funny' one and as every new artist their management tries to keep that clean image for the first year or so then when they are already established they can do whatever they want. Same thing happens with the Disney kids, they have to keep up with a clean image while they belong to Disney or they will be kicked out. In K-pop fandom cult is extreme so their taking care about their image thing is also that extreme.
I like the three guys with the drinks. They seem to be real people with a grip of life. They seem to know how the world works. We need more people like them. Everything they said was completely right.
except they don't own kpop agencies. They are great guys, but they're not the ones investing real $$ into producing kpop idols. I mean, you think JYP and Lee Soo man are idiots? there are good reasons why they prohibit dating. For one thing, it's bad for business. Yes, love is not a crime, but it's bad for business. The three guys are innocent but also naive into how the industry operates.

"it's the right reason to fire them", "i'd feel like something that's mine was taken" people like them are ruining idols life, if they are saying it on camera i'm afraid what they are posting on social networks
@not really gelo; IMO, just my opinion don't attack me. In the first place, the contract itself is very wrong. "Not Allow TO Date in the first 3 years". You know having someone that you love boost your confidence and commitment to your work. Of course, you can take your family as the reason why you work hard but having some like BF and GF double the effort and strong mentality.
Of course it's not a crime. But their jobs consist of selling their image to fans, so if they revealed to the world that they were dating, fans also have the right to stop buying their stuff and become fan from another idol they like
I understand all of this and to be honest I think that it’s companies fault. They can sell all the stuff but they also make their idols too exposed to fans so they become fans property which is the saddest part. But they knew what they were gotten into and because of that I feel bad for them cause everyone deserve happiness.
@hansalam한사람 Well maybe you are stupid for thinking it's your right to have a saying in other people's private lives, because you don't, whether you're a fan or not. Just because "the structures" have always been like that doesn't mean they are right. And you can literally see a lot of the people in this interview thinking hard about their answer and struggling to find reasons to support their opinion, because they never _thought_ about it rather than blindly following what everybody does or thinks.

Mxlody but before they were normal people they know become an idol will stop them from dating. It's not like they become an idol without knowing anything.
sophia p exactly. so sad. but the older girls are wise as well. it’s just (as expected) the teenage girls who think that will marry their ‘ oppas’ / idols someday that are crazy. seriously.
Apparently the entertainment industry is not promoting idols for their talents, but for their body, because the fans don't see them as artists but as a toy, and it's funny how Idols can't have a love life, but you can, like you don't have a boyfriend so the idol belongs to you ,but the moment you date someone you forget about them, that's why the oldest groups have more freedom.
I'm sorry this is a bit off topic, but when you say *toy* , I instantly remember the song "Toy" by BLOCK B and it's pretty representative of fans of these idols imo
I’m not trying to offend anyone at all but like seriously, the kpop industry is so toxic and the measures these agencies have to take. Like fans are so easily butthurt and sensitive to this stuff and the fact that fans actually turn on their idols and the agency just because they start dating is so wrong. Kpop idols are humans too
Mckenzie Wannahwilai bUt hEs mY oPpA! He is miNE! And should NOT be allowed to date other people because during his vlive 3 weeks ago he read my comment that said I love you and he said it back! Fans control their whole lives, they should at least get to do a little bit for themselves :(
the k-pop indsutry is one hell of a vicious circle of obsession and exploitation for money. But their system is what make them what they are right now and asking them to change it is like asking them to start from zero. And it's also based on their culture values so

I feel so bad for these idols, this clearly shows how most of their Korean fans aren't in it for the music or their talents. Edit : Okay so since some of y'all are getting offended for no reason or apparently don't seem to get what I'm saying. Never Have I said that Koreans are the only ones like that, obviously there are countless of "crazy possessive" fans of other fandoms in the world, Western artists sure have a lot of problematic supporters as well and a lot of international kpop fans are delusional and insane too ! But that's just not my point. All I'm saying is dating wise, Korea is one of the few countries where majority of the fanbase are not happy when the idols get into romantic relationship and make a scandal around it, whereas generally in other countries, celebrities dating results in a celebration, like it will be mostly positive THUS my comment. In conclusion I don't get why y'all feel the need to correct me when that's simply an observation of what's happening

Really irritating to watch those girls saying their idol shouldn't get married without their permission. How could they say such things! U can't control someone else mind!
i think in order for the companies to change. The fans need to change first. The reason why they have these rules in the first place because of the fans. The fandom especially Korean ones need to change how they think.
Yeah, I think they should be allowed to date. They're most likely already dating behind the scenes anyway. Besides, who are we to decide what they do with their love life? Fans should know that when idols compliment them, it's just a way to show appreciation (or sometimes a fanservice). Let's say when Justin Bieber (dunno why I'm using him as an example lol) tells his fans: "I love you guys so much!" we understand that it doesn't mean he's _in love_ with his fans. It just means he's thankful for all the support they have given him. It's all right to fantasize about things, just don't get it mixed up with reality.
Exactly! It actually makes me angry... That people can feel decieved and betrayed by someone else falling in love, you may be a big fan and all, but you gotta remember they are humans and well, with a heart. Everyone needs love.
SO TRUE! as mentioned if I could just meet all the idols I would tel them to date whoever they want.. who the hell are we to stop them from doing that? Can we just support them all the way and whatever makes them happy and inspired?
If you don't want an idol to date, you simply do not love and respect him/her. They are not your toy. They are not your boyfriend/girlfriend. Your fantasies are not more important than their happiness.
Seems like the Korean entertainment industry promotes a very unhealthy relationship between the K-pop idols and their fans. Fan worship is neither healthy for the performers nor for the fans. It's okay to appreciate someones music and performance. But when you worship a performer like some kind of god or run around feeling entitled to their private life it causes a very warped perception of normal social boundaries.
Yeah, you're right. They sort of make it seem like the kpop groups are your actual boyfriend or girlfriend. So it does indeed turn unhealthy, because lots of people fall into this illusion.
The crazy fans of today have origins that go way back to the first wave of idol groups. In fact, Kmusic industry is to blame for the crazy fans. When the first wave of K idol pop first started in Korea, agencies were so obsessed with upkeeping their image as ‘untouchable’ gods to the public so that they were looked upon as these out of this world figures that were beyond mere human celebrities- literal idols. At some point, they weren’t even allowed to use public restrooms or be seen out in public casually due to their public persona. Source: Korean that grew up in Korea during early 90s

@hansalam한사람 the cause of what? Them being fired? I get why they were fired, it still was a very fast reaction and they could have handled it a lot better. The question of this video is whether idols should be allowed to date or not, hence my comment.
@@malithevillain8438 I used to work some company from the US and they fired employees with ridiculous reasons. It happens. In this comment so many people are like "We're so mature and good people who give idols freedom" then look down other people who have different opinions. It's easy to sit down in front of computer and complain. In the show business so many people work and much money moves. Idols(actors and agencies) should take responsibility what they do/say.
Those three guys were the best part of this video! I wanna be their friend lol It's insannnnnnnne that this unhealthy obsession with idols is promoted and encouraged by the companies and, sometimes, the idols themselves. I vaguely remember a vlive where a fan commented that they stayed up all night to continually give hearts to the video or something like that, and the idol was congratulating them??? Why encourage that behaviour???? Tell them to go to bed and take care of them self!! Don't give them attention for that!
Is At Sea someone commented on yoongi's vlive that they want to marry him and he encouraged them to have papers ready. I know it can be a joke, but some fans will take this seriously and actually turn up at the agency with marriage papers
I agree.. Why I love Exo they have told us multiple times that we should buy warm clothes instead of buying their album and if a fans tells them they did something like stayed up all night for something and was tired for school next day they tell that person she shouldn't do that and focus on school😛❤
"I think those fans are a little weird" yes they are, everyone deserves to live their life, you don't own idols, the mindset of owning them is awful, i can't understand that possessiveness
Yes so true. Now I personally am pretty attracted to taehyung and if he would have a girlfriend I would be so happy!! I mean I wouldn't have a chance anyway😂 and I wouldn't even want to. I really hope all of them will find real love in the future.
100% agree. I mean I'm Korean too, but honestly, these fans need to allow their idols to have a regular life too. They don't control their life, and they should never control their life. If that's the way they want, they're just sasaeng, which is not being a fan. You're just a stalker and criminal at that point. Sure I have kpop biases too, but I love them just because of certain characteristics, and that even if I do meet them in the future, I'll just be glad to be in front of them and to meet them, that's it. There's no need to be delusional about marrying your bias, because those who are like that, ain't gonna happen, and should never happen. Give them a break, sasaengs who are watching this. Just saying.
Honestly, those fans who think idols shouldn't date because they might feel offended are so selfish. Performing for them is already a huge effort to make them smile, and yet they go to such lengths that they even restrict them for dating. Same goes for agencies that forbid dating. An idol having a relationship shouldn't make him/her less of an idol, and if one really is a fan, he/she should understand that like them, their idols are humans too who long for romance.
I get Kpop is supposed to create this fantasy for the targetted audience, but if you're true fans - wouldn't their happiness be your greatest happiness? 💓
Ikr. Like people can be in their own fantasy world, but shouldn’t be too delusional to not realize idols and artists are humans with their own lives also.
I think it's so weird how they call it a fantasy, bc to me they are singers, idols...They are doing what they love. They even leave their family to sing, to make their dreams come true. Not to make some delusional dreams for teenage girls, jesus ; - ; I don't understand how this girls/guys can be blind and selfish like that.

@@AA-pv6mi foh with that "if you're not korean you wouldn't understand" crap. Just like people outside of America can give their thoughts and opinions on America, we can also do the same. Trying to stop people from voicing thoughts just shows you know that whats happening is wrong
Apollo What I said wasn’t crap, though. It’s the truth. A large majority of Americans are ignorant, hence they will go against or question what is alien to them. I’m just vaguely explaining how. No need to get angry about it. Calm down.
I don’t understand how fans freak out about their idols dating but ship them with every person that they interact with literally they could be a back up singer on one of their songs and fans are shipping them. As a fan myself I could never freak out or deny my idols the happiness and love they deserve just because fantasies are “ruined”. Fans who are against idols dating because it ruins their chance of dating or marrying them... BABY you were NEVER going to have a chance with them either way so get over it and let your idol be happy without having to feel insecure about their decision.
I was gonna make a joke and say it’s because it’s not a gay ship so people (straight girls) aren’t getting as much satisfaction from it. But seriously I thought this exact same thing. Like after NCT Lucas and g-idle Yuqi went on knowing bros people started shipping them because they had a cute interaction, now if they announce they are dating the kpop industry would riot even though literally last month everyone was shipping them. It’s such a weird way of thinking but whatever.
Monbunny But it’s the international fans who ship people. If a gay couple came out in Korea their career as an idol would be over. If Lucas and Yuqi actually became a couple they’d obviously get more international support than Korea and if the news is put out properly then I don’t think there would be as much backlash as the Edawn/Hyuna situation.
m3gstarrr Holland came out and he’s still rising?. In my opinion it’s all fans and not all international, meaning as a whole not like separate like Sayem said because not al fans are the same in their country when if they majority are but yea I think if they were straightforward they may have not got very bad backlash. I think most fans who are upset are upset about them denying the rumors first
Pointless Hour Holland is more famous internationally though and he said that no one from the industry reached out when he debuted. Yes, it seems like all fans like the fan service like idols doing the pepero game and stuff but it seems like international fans actually ship them and K fans just see it as fun because they rather be the one dating the idol. From what I’ve seen, SK is still very homophobic and some idols have even said some homophobic remarks but it is gradually getting better.
The people who seemed most upset about these things are always going to be the teenagers, they're still maturing and finding themselves. They're also more delusional about thinking they will marry or date an idol. The kpop industry takes this into consideration because it affects the fan base, which correlates to album sales and revenue. Hoping for a future where the company let's their idols become artists, free to make their own music instead of manufacturing robots with no say in any matter.
TBH I do nat get it why teenagers feel that way. I am 13 yrs old but never did I have that fantasy, because hello they're like 10 years older than me. I know age doses't matter, but those fans think they would like someone who is younger than them for 10-13 (or more). I just don't get this fantasy.
And when you've been in the game for more than 10 years, you will get used to it. And you will realise that it's not more bad than the dark sides of entire entertaintment industry all over the world.
@Dakota Colley they can date without their fans leaving them if their fans r not delusional and love them because of their music & personalities only. Idols already paid us with entertainment & it's enough.
@Dakota Colley no we don't, we support them because we enjoy their music. I don't like my idol because I fell for their personality I like them because their music and me supporting them let's them expand their career and let them release more music for me to enjoy. that mindset is toxic as well.
@Dakota Colley No......the only thing a idol owes us is good music that is it that is all. And as fans we get to enjoy the music they make. And if a certain number of fans drop a group or solo artist for any reason whether it is dating or a member leaves the group there are other fans that will pick that group or solo artist up and listen to them. Fan fiction.......... really? Fan fiction is just the delusional fantasy of some fans, but instead of keeping it in their heads they decided to write it down. Every fan fiction I have ever read ( Yah, I have read some) are overly romantic, soft porn, or straight up hard core porn. Do you really think idols like or appreciate fan fiction, I don't. But to get back to the topic of this show what do these fans think idols are going to do? The dating ban is only for a number of years and not every company has one. For example "Big Hit" the company behind B.T.S. has no dating ban. No idol is going to go ten to fifteen years with out having sex, and I pick those numbers because a lot fans don't want idols to date until they are 30 years old if at all. So should kpop idols be allowed to date? Yes of course they should, are they dating after the dating ban, yes they are they are just being very quiet about it. I'm sure some idols are having one night stands, using call girls (high end expensive, experience prostitutes) or doing the whole friends with benefits thing. There is also a large vocal segment of fans that believe that most of the idols are gay. The guys don't need to date a girl they can just date the members of their group. Well that would be all well and good if he was indeed gay. I have nothing against gay idols, in fact we have one Holland, so to say South Korea does not accept gay idols is wrong. If South Korea did not accept him he would not have been able to sing or release any music videos. And that is where all these "ships" come in to play (ships: short for relationships) most of the ships I see are gay ships between members of the same band. Fans will ask: "Oh such and such (any idols name) don't you love such and such when are you coming out of the closet (meaning when are you going to tell everyone that you are gay.)" And that idol will say: "Oh no I'm stright, I'm not gay". Those fans will loose they ever loving mind on twitter, and the comments section. The fan's will say: "That idol only said that because South Korea doesn't accept gay idols!... (Holland)................ "He is gay in his heart he just doesn't know it yet"..... (Really?). But when one gets down to the heart of the matter, I have read this in the comments section and seen reactors say this when watching music video or interviews: "I want these guys to be gay because if they date a girl it would break my heart! But if they are gay they would look so cute together." So in South Korea the idols have to fight to date. With the international community of fans the idols have to fight to date and with some fans straight idols have to fight to been seen as straight. Also just because someone is straight it does not make them homophobic they are just straight.
there are also adults who are like that, honestly. like those sasaeng fans that go to the same airplane as the idols or book in the same hotel... people are sick
Yes, it will change something. Believe it or not, there are ppl who would believe idol's "sweet lies"? i guess. That's why, there shouldn't be a chance for creating a misconception. For an idol to be completely honest with fans is important.
@@amala647 They owe you NOTHING they don't need to tell ANYONE about their private life. Just because they are idols doesn't mean they have to give up every basic human right just because some of you are entitled and deluted
@@amala647 I agree only with the first half of your sentence. There are people that believe in what the idol says, it's more about how they try to manipulate the most basic statements such as "I love you" that the idols say to fit their narrative and fantasies. Other stans that are living in the real world dont have time to microanalyse statements made by their idols, because they have jobs to do and bills to pay. Lolm
@@amala647 yeah agree with you after 10 or 11 years of being kpop fans . I did wish they are stop or do less 'fan service' things , im not delulu but! I do hv delulu friends...it gave me headache
Hyuna and E'dawn get so much backlash for announcing their relationship and supposedly 'showing off' but when Americans for example do this they get no backlash at all, and they show off much more. Just let them be jeez.
Bruh, it's called responsibility... how could you do that to your members knowing having a relationship so soon from their debut will jeopardise their career greatly.
@@mochiquizbear6168 while I totally agree that idols should be allowed to date and stuff, it's not like the rule would suddenly change overnight. unfortunately the korean society is against this kind of stuff and I'm sure dawn knew that. it's actually even more questionable that they hadnt even debuted and they stared dating. they should have done a better job at hiding it. NOT because they owe their fans or anything but because dawn's members could also be affected. but it's way past and both dawn and hyuna and Pentagon are happy so whatever💘. honestly though, it's sad that people are willing to end careers over such a little thing. dawn and hyuna paved the way for a lot of idols to start dating💗
some do, some don't. iirc Taeyang from Big Bang broke boundaries by being a successful Kpop idol despite being married. Several members from U-Kiss also did get married as well, though one got divorced. In the end, the true fans stay and the delulu ones leave anyway.
My opinion is that they should move out, it'll be way too toxic there but they'll have to leave their friends and families . I'm sorry if there are any grammatical mistakes, English isn't my first language -_-||
@NUR FATIHA according to me 35- 40 years is not the age of marriage , if they want they can marry anytime, the idols, stars are forced to marry and date so late , its not like they wanna get married do late. hope idols marry whenever , whomever they want and dont care about obsessive idiotic so called fans
I kind of wish that every kpop idol would expose their relationships or past relationships. Cause if you think about it, theres no way that EVERYONE in kpop will be kicked out. Plus it would become a normal thing and the possessive fans would have to get reality checks.
What are the S.Korean record labels trying to be like Disney? the Catholic Church? How are the performers suppose to write and sing love songs, if they don't know how to love.
Well if every lyricist was only able to write about things that he or she has experienced personally, bookshelves around the world would be pretty empty....just saying. 😅
one of the girls said that she wishes the idols could be honest from the start. But there is a reason they don’t do that. Let’s say the couple breaks up. If they’d already informed each fan base and everyone knew they were dating, maybe everyone was even happy for them, too. But one day they break up. Although breakups are completely natural and happen all the time, because these people are so idolized and famous, the media would blow it way out of proportion. (same in american media) that’s why, if they’re even gonna say anything at all, they’ll wait until they’re fully secure in their relationship.
Exactly, that’s what happened to Miley and Liam, the media blew it out of proportion when they first had broken up; if they did this in Korea (announcing every single relationship of idols and artists) they would blow it up and make a huge mess. Conclusion, if the artists want to announce it, fans should be supportive, if they don’t want to announce it, get over it if they don’t, it’s their privacy
Seriously some fans really suck their idols as hell..,like how they could say about being honest from starting..?,they don't understand a small fact that idols are also humans and to everyone it takes time to know about a person ..,a person confess when they fill a bit of attraction but they first date each other to better about each one and then make decision that if they finally can make up together ...,like seriously they want them to be honest so do they r ready to listen to statement of their idols that guys we r in realtionship and after sometimes they will say tahtbguys we broke up cause we wouldn't able to make it longer...
I think the reason why west celeb don't get this kind hate comper to kpop. Is because 'idols' are made by companies . The moment they sign a contract all those people become representative of the company. Whereas in west, celebs are individual. So whatever they do it will just affect them. But in kpop it will affect the company. So companies don't want to take risk. Also because of companies serveing this 'free to be your boy/girlfriend' image . Just to capture the heart's of love seeking teenager. Also as its said above influence of Jpop too is there.
Exactly. Do international kpop fans even know what kpop is😕 Even I know kpop is obviously a business. And what they are doing is called "fan service" There is even a word for it. And no one force those idol to go into certain contract or company, they picked it. They chose fame over freedom, then when they get the fame, they'll start complaining. Wth! And I was honestly SO angry with Hyuna's case. While others from other company can't even date at all, yet they still follow their contract and respect their company. Hyuna is given the chance go date but just not the people she works with in the company. And she still... I can't. Even if I was the owner of Cube I would have fired.
Hmm individual? do you really believe western idols aren't being created in a certain image to sell to the public as well? They're all being morphed into something that would be the most popular with the public. They're used, then thrown away when the public isn't interested anymore. Sex, money, drugs parties, is what America loves and celebs are forced to become the epitome of those. And that's exactly what leads to their demise. Drug abuse, depression, drinking, some end up in rehab, some end up dead. It's not like they're hush hush about it, but America does such a good job of trying to make other entertainment businesses look worse lmao
@@Imokayluv this are their individual doing. While for Kpop. They chose not dating for fame with their company. Most western artist just do it, cause that's what they want to do. At the end of the day, it's all their choice for fame
I really don't agree that its individual. And I don't think the music is really of their individual choices either. I think they're being advised or made to act in a certain way in order to catch the public's attention and keep it. There's also tabloids, magazines, news set up to give them the image they're going for. I think there's a lot of factors that goes into it. But I don't think western celebs have any more freedom than people assume K idols have. I know a couple of people who became very close to signing a contract in the American entertainment industry, but chose not to do it last minute. And they told me from their experience with the people involved in it, that once they're in, they can't get out. It's a very dark and scary world. And it's always the ones that do the most finger pointing that are the scariest.
One of the points this girl made is that some fans may boycott...sis I wouldn’t boycott because an idol was in a relationship. I’d rather boycott to keep hyuna and edawn together. KPOP IDOLS DESERVE TO BE HAPPY they’re like the rest of us
Reality speaking if you saw some dating rumors back then last year the idol who's dating someone affected his group that concert tickets, and their fansites got boycott
*I don't get the, "I feel betrayed" mentality some of these fans have.* To me, an idol brings an enormous amount of happiness into my life, just by being happy themselves and allowing me to experience their journey with them, as well as their talents. I feel grateful to many for this good feeling. As I'm sure they feel grateful for the love and support of their fans. But, what never sits right with me is how some trick themselves into believing that their idols who they "love"... belong to them. How they can feel this type of entitlement baffles me. These are people who aren't so unlike the average person. They aren't God's; they're idols. They bleed. They love. They hurt. Like anyone else; they're human. Which makes them imperfect. So, for us to live in reality and force a fantasy from our own selfish desires onto them is appalling. This mindset that surrounds kpop makes it hard for those who want to support artist to stay. Obviously, if it was safe for one to be themselves and to love openly without judgment and without consequences, then that's what would've happened. If it was safe. No one likes lying all the time, and somethings you just want to yourself, especially when you're in the business of giving your all to everything and everyone. So, why feel betrayed? Those that feel this way should feel sorry. Something like this shouldn't put you off so easily. If it was real, continue to support. If asked, "Do you think idols should be allowed in a relationship?" Simply say, Yes. Of course. Why? Because you'd want to be allowed the freedom to love. If asked, "Do you think idols should be fired from their label/company for dating?" No. Should be the answer. Im not ssying they should be allowed to break contracts and trusts. If that's the case, then a "time out" type of "punishment" should be given. But, any contract that negates a person from dating should have at most a 5 year limit. (I understand the industry needs something like this in order to maintain market value, although I don't agree with it) In case anyone may get offended, I'm aware that this behavior can be found in other genres & countries too. This is only my opinion and reaction (of the Hyuna controversy, and how the public, as shown in this video, feel about it). Which in short, confused & impassioned me. It's common to hear about a fan talk of feeling betrayed or sour about their idols dating rumors/ controversies. But, as being a fan within the kpop world...I cannot begin to understand this part of the community. 🤔😳😳
Omg yes. Yes yes yes. This. Yes. This is like me. Omg FINALLY someone a smart human being us here! When the kpop artist I like dates I'm gonna be so happy. They have a lot of struggles and stress in their life, so if they can find another person to take comfort and happiness in, that would make me so happy.
It's funny that when the girls explain how crazy fan can get you can see how unconfortable they are with the subject , they know it's not right to treat idols like that, but they might still do it, because every k-fans think it's"normal". Well, it's not, i hope idols can date in the future and have a bit more freedom in their agency.
Bauuwse it's a problem and a habit, I see this occurring a lot in America actually where they will deny having similar screwed up mentalities yet so quick to point fingers to other country people and try to "fix" the problem and "advise" and "help" them. It's so messed up and hypocritical. Like I live in America and I know how celebs are treated here. They literally live in cages that the public puts them in. You can't please the people here either. Miley Cyrus was hated because she was acting too crazy, then Selena Gomez gets hated on because she's too "well behaved" and "boring". Kinda sad when people don't want to acknowledge these in themselves but so quick to judge others.
Honestly, the idea that “Dating ruins the fantasy” is true to most celebs in all countries (of course given the circumstances). It’s all about the image for publicity. BUT KPOP INDUSTRY takes this to the extreme. Kpop idols want to make fans believe that they are available for them when in fact, they really aren’t. They feed your fantasy that’s why a lot of kpop fans would say that kpop is a vortex you almost can’t escape from because of that culture. Moreover, kpop in Korea is catered to teenagers. So most teenagers would believe this fantasy. Notice the difference of opinions of the teenagers from the adults they interviewed. Notice how they don’t want their oppas to deceive them by keeping the dating thing secret but they should be allowed privacy. It’s a contradiction. TO ANSWER, KPOP IDOLS SHOULD BE ALLOWED. It’s their choice to make it public or not. I guess it’s even better to keep it a secret to prevent any toxic thing from happening. But if they want to be liberated and go all out, they can make it public (unless they are not allowed to do sobecause of their contract). Nevertheless, it should be their choice.
Ara DG hyuna and edawn admitted they were in a relationship to show that hyuna wasn't actually sexually assaulting edawn as some 'fans' accused hyuna so they made their relationship public to show that it was consensual whenever she was being intimate with edawn on camera
Sayem It does happen in the US but never to the extent that it does in kpop. It only happens with very popular celebrities whose main fanbase is young teens like it was with Justin Bieber and 1D but even then the main fanbase still remain loyal. They just tend to hate on their girlfriends. But aside from cases like that it doesn’t really happen in the US because celebrities don’t try to sell a fantasy to their fans. They don’t constantly hold fan-meets or handshake events with fans. They don’t constantly tell their fans that they are their girlfriends or boyfriends. They don’t play into the “pure” image. This type of fan culture that exists in kpop doesn’t exist in the US. In the US, there’s always a very clear line drawn between the fans and celebrities but that’s not the case in Kpop.
Ara DG exactly. I’ve been a Kpop fan for almost 8yrs now and it’s sad to see that the mentality on dating hasn’t changed so much. It’s their right to date whomever they want. As long as they don’t hurt each other and they have a healthy relationship.
I think that few of those girls are weird.. of course kpop idols are free to date whoever they want.. I'm an ARMY and I would definitely support BTS and their future girlfriends...Those girls need to understand that you don't own them!
Can't wait either ...I really believe that if you truly love someone that person's happiness is all that will matter to you ..so as an ARMY as long as my kings are happy and are with their loved ones ( i don't care abt the gender or the age or the ethnicity ) i'm more than satisfied and i'll support them till the end ........
Fans feel like they are entitled to their "oppas" because of the amount of time, money, and effort they give to them (when in fact these idols never really begged for them to do so). Somehow, all these flowery words that idols give like "you are my everything", "fans are my true love", etc. give these people false hopes and fantasies that their oppas will never date for real, just for them. The problem here is that these fans don't really learn, they still insist that these idols are gonna stay single the rest of their lives and believe on all these promises that their oppas are giving them on stage or on cam. And also, these idols keep on being lovey-dovey and keep saying cringy-level sweet things that they probably don't even mean on cam. I don't want to generalize all idols though cos some MAY really say things that they mean. But if you keep on acting like an ON-CAM BOYFRIEND, you should be aware of the consequences that you're gonna get because you have actually fooled a lot of girls out there that will now act and think that they are your ON-CAM GIRLFRIENDs. This kpop dating issues have been alive ever since the beginning of kpop and fanbases, and it's really difficult to change something that has been a habit/routine to people, especially within a culture. Just a piece of my observation, dont roast me hard. 🤣
I agree with you on this, and sometimes people just don't get what fanservice is, so there are some crazy people out there who are too crazy over the fanservice and think they got an actual chance with their idols like whAt yOu On rEtArdS?..
Sane and loyal fanbase will stay but crazy fanatics already outspend them and once they eventually leave, companies will be losing more money. Sad but the industry needs to change.
U SPEAK THE TRUTH MY DEAR, thats basically what it is, hence why u dont really see these dating issue that much in west cos the singers aint doing stuff like what korean idols do to their fans, these 'idols' create a false hope n fantasy for the fans, and the fans are too delusional and believing they own their oppas, thats why it doesn't really bother me when the idols's sale drop once they got caught or dating someone cos anyone can see that coming, the fact that some fans leaving the fanbase bcos of that speak the truth n u can't blame the fans for doing that either, they spend n invest their time n money to be delusional and they have the right to leave once reality hits them, the fans just need to learn lol, and the idols do not have to act so shocked if these things happen to them, they know it better unless they prepare for it n can survive without delusional fanbase lmao
Just want to correct that girl who said jpop idols have to shave their heads when caught dating. That is completely not true and she is probably thinking of Minegishi Minami from AKB48 who shaved her head when her dating was exposed by a tabloid. She did that of her own volition and is in no way the norm for Japanese idols. Even Maeda Atsuko was caught out with Sato Takeru (she was dead drunk and he literally carried her to her flat and this was all over the tabloids in Japan) and she did not shave her head or even say anything about the incident and she is still active in Japan till today, she even just recently got married and is pregnant. Inoo Kei from the popular Johnny's boy group Hey Say Jump has been caught MULTIPLE times and it did not affect his idol career one bit!
Let's not forget NMB48 member Ririka Sutou who announced her engagement during the 9th Annual Senbatsu General Election last year in front of tens of thousands of fans and the producer Akimoto offered her to stay even after marriage.
@Sweet Pea Did you even read my comment? No one made her shave her head! I didn't say I stan anyone and whether Johnny Kitagawa is a paedophile is irrelevant to my comment.

Yep, It is all about the fantasy for girls who don't want the idols to date. They think of the male or female idol as " theirs' and will marry them. It is very extreme for some, where they turn their back on these idols if they do date. That is a very lonely life for these idols however long they stay an idol.

They call them idol not artist , that explains a lot

I’m not trying to offend anyone at all but like seriously, the kpop industry is so toxic and the measures these agencies have to take. the k-pop indsutry is one hell of a vicious circle of obsession and exploitation for money. But their system is what make them what they are right now and asking them to change it is like asking them to start from zero. And it's also based on their culture values so

Monbunny that’s so trueee
Korea: is facing declining birth rate
random Kpop fan: tries to berate idols who want to date and possibly start a family

It ruins the fantasy, yes but that’s something you have to get over.
If you really loved them you would love the people who make them happy.
Some of the answers are *so* unbelievably ignorant and selfish that made me sick, seriously, I don't have words.
Those 3 Guys spoke Truth though!
Like the lady who said they need to make sacrifices since they appear on tv 🙄🙄🙄
the ones who said they shoud be fired are literally15 year old girls :/
there are also adults who are like that, honestly. like those sasaeng fans that go to the same airplane as the idols or book in the same hotel... people are sick
bloop oop I'm 15 yet why, I say otherwise :))
But to think of it, it's not the age either. It's the person :))
and they are the main demographic that gives idols their fame so what they think and how they feel matters, unfortunately
They are the ones who'll spend all their (and their parents money) on any kind of merch the company puts out there. It's just a business
1:43 cmon let's be real being honest from the beginning won't change anything lmao the problem is not the idols but the immature fans
@@amala647 are you there for their work and talent or for whatever they do in their life?
@@amala647 I agree only with the first half of your sentence. There are people that believe in what the idol says, it's more about how they try to manipulate the most basic statements such as "I love you" that the idols say to fit their narrative and fantasies.
And this kind of behavior is usually observed in teens that don't have much idea about the real dating world and are free enough to obsess over them.
Other stans that are living in the real world dont have time to microanalyse statements made by their idols, because they have jobs to do and bills to pay. Lolm

@@parkerchan7875 they were dating before that
@@mochiquizbear6168 while I totally agree that idols should be allowed to date and stuff, it's not like the rule would suddenly change overnight. unfortunately the korean society is against this kind of stuff and I'm sure dawn knew that. it's actually even more questionable that they hadnt even debuted and they stared dating. they should have done a better job at hiding it. I'm actually genuinely concerned for the idols future, when will they get married then?
Ya right!
some do, some don't. iirc Taeyang from Big Bang broke boundaries by being a successful Kpop idol despite being married.
@@bhavanam7572 or they can date in secret lol it's not necessary to make your relationship publicly
I kind of wish that every kpop idol would expose their relationships or past relationships. Cause if you think about it, theres no way that EVERYONE in kpop will be kicked out. Plus it would become a normal thing and the possessive fans would have to get reality checks.
k-pop idols are humans too. they should be allowed to date. There's nothing wrong with dating someone you liked.
The problem is their fans
What are the S.Korean record labels trying to be like Disney? the Catholic Church? How are the performers suppose to write and sing love songs, if they don't know how to love.
bishop51807 LMAOOO UR HILARIOUS BUT UR SO RIGHT
Well if every lyricist was only able to write about things that he or she has experienced personally, bookshelves around the world would be pretty empty....just saying. 😅
bishop51807 what about the Catholic Church? I didn’t get that.
The Catholic Church meaning everything has to be pure. Nothing over PG-13 lol
Most of them don’t write their own songs, so...
one of the girls said that she wishes the idols could be honest from the start.
This is so basic but still some people need to understand this
Seriously some fans really suck their idols as hell..,like how they could say about being honest from starting..?,they don't understand a small fact that idols are also humans and to everyone it takes time to know about a person ..,a person confess when they fill a bit of attraction but they first date each other to better about each one and then make decision that if they finally can make up together ...,like seriously they want them to be honest so do they r ready to listen to statement of their idols that guys we r in realtionship and after sometimes they will say tahtbguys we broke up cause we wouldn't able to make it longer...
Exactly some fans need to get over themselves, these idols don’t have to explain just because they love their oppa.
Exactly.
Do international kpop fans even know what kpop is😕
Even I know kpop is obviously a business.
And what they are doing is called "fan service"
There is even a word for it.
Nailed it 👏👏👏👏
They should be a allowed to date. Because we don't own those idols. They are not objects. I can't say he is mine when he doesn't even know me.
One of the points this girl made is that some fans may boycott...sis I wouldn’t boycott because an idol was in a relationship. I’d rather boycott to keep hyuna and edawn together. KPOP IDOLS DESERVE TO BE HAPPY they’re like the rest of us
not true fans if your boycotting. they need to see a special doctor
I am happy if every carats like you
Not all fans are like you. I think the majority of the fans are really going to boycott if their idol is dating
Reality speaking if you saw some dating rumors back then last year the idol who's dating someone affected his group that concert tickets, and their fansites got boycott
Poor Sungmin. Is getting married a crime?
I like the three amigos being interviewed! They're so realistic and they tell the truth, even if they were laughing the entire time.
*I don't get the, "I feel betrayed" mentality some of these fans have.*
To me, an idol brings an enormous amount of happiness into my life, just by being happy themselves and allowing me to experience their journey with them, as well as their talents.
If asked,
"Do you think idols should be allowed in a relationship?"
Simply say, Yes. Of course. Why? Because you'd want to be allowed the freedom to love.
If asked, "Do you think idols should be fired from their label/company for dating?"
No. Should be the answer.
Im not ssying they should be allowed to break contracts and trusts. If that's the case, then a "time out" type of "punishment" should be given. But, any contract that negates a person from dating should have at most a 5 year limit. (I understand the industry needs something like this in order to maintain market value, although I don't agree with it)
In case anyone may get offended, I'm aware that this behavior can be found in other genres & countries too.
H!Q thanks for your thesis
probably simple answer is that fans are sad that their idols are growing up

thats an underrated comment
@John ????
SM artists date each other too but the way the agency handle the issue is much better and they definitely don't fire their artist because of it.
Aight, we all stanning the three guys with their tEa-
Absolutely
It's funny that when the girls explain how crazy fan can get you can see how unconfortable they are with the subject , they know it's not right to treat idols like that, but they might still do it, because every k-fans think it's"normal". Well, it's not, i hope idols can date in the future and have a bit more freedom in their agency.
Every kfans? Really? Again? How come some foreigners always end up blaming all the kfans?
You should see the thing they call "ships"
This 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I’ll give an applause
As an Korean, I really don’t like a liitle Korean’s terrible mind of K-pop idols.
Dating is not a big problem to sing, dance and meet their fans.
3:48 “For the fans, the fantasy goes away”

I think that few of those girls are weird.. of course kpop idols are free to date whoever they want.. I'm an ARMY and I would definitely support BTS and their future girlfriends...Those girls need to understand that you don't own them!
My thoughts exactly! I am also an ARMY. I would love to see the BTS members in a relationship. I want them to be happy!
I'm an army too and if any of the members dated anyone, I would support them always, they have worked so hard and deserve it
Its gonna be WORLD WAR III between I-Army and K-army if k-army turn back on BTS when they found out dating. Please...BTS are human too.
I’m a hardcore Leggo and Once and still I would love to see my girls with boyfriends or girlfriends honestly
I agree with you on this, and sometimes people just don't get what fanservice is, so there are some crazy people out there who are too crazy over the fanservice and think they got an actual chance with their idols like whAt yOu On rEtArdS?..
daedaengkyu ,i never agreed to someone as much as i did to you ,PREACH IT LOURDER
Those 3 guys at 1:24 saying "is love a crime?" are my favorites.
