Swimming in natural, warm, calm water is the main reason I'm thinking of snowbirding to Thailand this winter and hopefully make it a regular practice. Really appreciate the observations on westerly breeze, jelly fish, water clarity, currents. I did notice from photos that the water seemed a little rougher at times at Hua Hin (West side of the gulf so east shore) vs Jomtien (East side so west shore). Good to get the scoop on dates for that effect! Thanks mate! Also great to get a detailed view of Koh Lanta.
Hello Paul, thanks for the message. When the conditions are right the swimming and the waters around Thailand are incredibly beautiful. However, conditions are not always right. The prevailing winds go with the seasons in the low season which is usually from the end of May through till the end of November. The prevailing winds are. Westerly. this means any shoreline with an east facing coast will have calm. Waters. These sometimes works very good in the golf of Thailand however not so well on The Andaman Sea. When the high season comes the prevailing wins are gentle easterly and make water conditions very good on any west facing coast so that even means the Gulf of Thailand down the Trat side and Jomtien. Hope that helps a little bit the months in which the winds change does vary a little bit and on the shoulders of the high and low seasons you can get winds blowing in different directions on different days but they are usually quite calm as well except when the storms come lol. Enjoy your travels, Rob and Shaz
Lovely video, thank you! I’m an Aussie going to Koh Lanta for the first time next month. I’m a bit nervous to ride a scooter as I have no experience and will be travelling solo. Shaz you looked very confident for your first time! How did you find it?
@@tiffanyha7831 Hi Tiffany glad you have enjoyed the video. Koh Lanta for me was a great place to learn as the streets are relatively quiet compared to Phuket or Pattaya and the roads are flat so no massive hills like Koh Chang or Koh Samui I think you should be ok I would ride there again Just stick to the left and if anyone wants to go around you they can Indicate early and check that no one is going to ride up the inside of you when you turn and if need be just follow a local that’s always the easiest way to learn how the traffic flows :) Good luck and have an amazing time in Koh Lanta I think we will be going back again early next year cos wr love it so much:) Try and get to the Elephant sanctuary we have done a video on that if you would like to check it out More than happy to answer any questions you have to try and make your first time the best time :)
@@antonkarlsson4556 but in saying that Koh Lanta is getting busier and Khao Lak is still very laid back ahhhh it’s a hard one We have also just spent a few days at Khanom Beach and that was amazing, a few days there was not enough to enjoy all the beautiful beaches there Stay tuned for that video :)

You can't really beat Australian beaches, but you can beat Australian culture. What? Culture? Haha
@@jzkramer Australia definitely has amazing beaches but yes furs lack the culture the Thai people are what makes this country so beautiful
