To my ears the original pickups sounded better. Great comparison. Was going to put the EMG T-52 set in a Tele, but now reconsidering. Don’t want the Tele buzz Do want the Tele tone. Don’t want to spend a fortune on Fishman Fluence Tele gristle. Thanks for the comparison 👍
I was about to say the same thing, a Telecaster IMO requires low output pickups with a clear and smooth tone, any pickup that anyone wishes to change slightly in Telecaster can be done with an EQ pedal IMO. People buy a Telecaster for that classic tele twang and clear tone.
I liked the original set better although it had some "hair" but in a good way :). I'm looking at getting a Tele P90 EMG replacement and your tone test was very helpful. Thanks and Best Regards!
I agree with you on the single coil hum. I'ts awful. Do you know how these pickups might compare to the EMG FT pickups.I'm not a high gain player mild overdrive for lead is mostly what use and I like clarity without the Icepick in the forehead kind of brightness. Do you have a recommendation the T52 or the standard EMGs?
I'm not familiar with the FT pickups. The T-set and T52 are both really nice, but both need the SPC mid boost to really come out. You could also add some mids with an eq pedal, but having the mid boost on the guitar has been really handy.
@@andrewglossa At EMG they told me the Ts are what they call FTs. I tried the SPC but for me the tone control is more important to have. The tele is such a bright guitar that I like to dial the treble back when I'm on the bridge pickup
Just revisited this video and listened to the comparison. To my ears Original Pickups still sound better, (clearer and better string distinction) than the EMGs
@@andrewglossathat’s great! Your Tele original pickups had good sting clarity and sounded great! I just recently removed a set of active EMG Gilmour pickups from a Strat mod and put in a set of reissue vintage 65s. Keep playing and finding the sweet tones🎸
Creo que ajusto el amplificador de la misma manera ... y puede que ahi este el porque que se escuchen asi... creo que las pickups squier originales tienen un sonido más moderno que las EmG que como el nombre lo indica; son mas limpias.
Classic Vibe is my fav mod guitar, great bodies and neck to start with as projects

What did you end up doing? If you need noiseless, don’t underestimate how good a 4way switch can make your tele sound.
@@SO-bp2uc Tele was put on back burner….4way switch is a good option

I'm glad it was helpful. I found that these pickups have more life with the SPC mid boost. Really brings out it's guts. Thanks for the comment!
I feel like a lot of these comments are fed by “i read actives we’re bad on the internet”.

@@Spaceman-jo5mz I've actually just put the originals back in recently. The guitar is back to feeling and sounding like a tele.

The original bridge pickup itself is very good tonality..

EMGs have a lot of clarity, but no body!
I've found that the SPC mid boost is a must with these. It makes the pickups sound good and alive.
Did you match pickup heights? I am quite surprised how much quieter the EMGs are, moreso less output.
I did match the height to the passives ones. I was also surprise about them being lower output than the passive ones, but it's been a nice thing.
The retro active EMGs tend to be less output than traditional EMGs. Even still, it was still surprising it was that much less.
original --- much better.
Originals sound better to me more lively. Character. Eng sound more dead to me
stock better for good vintage tele tone
