A note about Paul's life expectancy: A common field mouse usually lives 3-4 years, Mr Jingles at the time of the movie is over 60 years old, thats AT LEAST 20x his normal lifespan, so translate that to Paul and he has about 1200 years to go at least
Do we know that its a multiplication factor though? What if we say Mr Jingles was a year old at the time and now is 65 since it was 64 years after, and if it could possibly be a specific number of years added on? Say 70 additional years for example, and that Mr Jingles may have another 5 or 6 years in him. As for Paul, if life expectancy was 65 at the time and add 70 onto him would be 135, so he'd still have another 27 years. I don't know if there's any biblical reference to numbers around the 65-75 frame that could be applied to give help give context to this possibility. Or maybe they just live until a higher power sees fit that it is their time? Stephen King probably hasn't addressed this anywhere is my guess, because adding a definite to the equation would likely only just detract from the mystery
Yes, it is a mystery I would say. But I remember earing that line when I first saw the movie and getting chiles...
In the book, it is hinted at that anyone healed by John is functionally immortal. This doesn't mean that you can never die, just that you wouldn't die of natural causes.
If I remember correctly, Hals wife was in a similar position but died in a bus crash.

A few things I wonder about considering how long Paul has left to live: 1) How old was Mr. Jingles when he received the gift from John? Paul being in his 40s during the Depression, he would've probably been 50% of the way through his natural life. If Mr. Jingles was 6 months at the time, then John turned the remaining 83% of his life into 60 years. That's a 2400% increase to the natural life span. If Mr. Jingles was 2.5 years old, then he turned the remaining 17% of his life into 60 years. That's a 12000% increase over natural. Depending on how old Mr. Jingles was that percentage increase would then be applied to the remaining natural life that Paul had (assuming it works that way, but who knows). 2) Did Mr. Jingles and Paul get the same dose? There's no way of telling, but my gut tells me that Mr. Jingles received a bigger dose of magic than Paul. Mr. Jingles got an uncontrolled transfer of the magic while John was trying to help lessen the pain on Del. Paul's dose was a controlled sharing of the magic to help give him insight on what Wild Bill had done. I feel like the uncontrolled transfer would have been more substantial, but that's just my opinion. 3) Would the same dose of magic have the same effect on Paul as it would a much smaller creature? Much like medicine, a dose that could cure an ailment in a mouse would likely not even be noticeable if given to a grown man. So, did the magic have a greater effect on Mr. Jingles because it was given to such a small animal? Those are just some things I think about when I wonder how long Paul has left. There's no telling how the magic actually works, so there's no way of answering the questions. I think I just hate the idea of Paul still wondering around at 900 years old waiting for his turn to die and like to think he won't have to wait that long.

And it makes perfect sense with the movie

17:29 That's how Stephen King does his fantasy, gis stories start of realistic and get you hooked, and then the magic happens and you accept it as real. All the stuff I have read by him I liked, though some of it is really dark. Though it's not always easy to make a good movie from his stories. "The Shining" is another good suggestion to watch though...

John Coffey, you now understand, IS NOT AN IMBECILE. Lucia says, "BONUS!" and she's absolutely right, a two-fer-one, and Percy got to go where he wanted and Wild Bill wound up where he should have. The PONDERABLES in "TGM" are mind-boggling and heart-wrenching.
I just love that enough is explained and that enough is left for us to ponder about 👌🏻 great movie

Hey Lucia, since you like Tom Hanks you gotta watch Forrest Gump (if you haven't seen it). Another great movie is Jojo Rabbit or Only the Brave. Have you seen the 2 Deadpool movies, they have a lot of action and comedy. I loved your reaction but I hated to wait 2 weeks to watch it because I won't watch part of it and wait for the other parts. Never seen The Burbs, don't even really know the genre tbh xD
Never been to the States so we don't really know any restaurants in that area 😂, but it seems that is an area with a lot of portuguese influence!
So, to us portuguese food is just food that we make and eat at home every day! When we go out to dinner it's usually to eat italian or chinese 🫣😅
I wouldnt consider this a fantasy movie
I think its more of as a religious movie when you consider all the angel like miracles and abilities

You could call it a religious movie I agree, or maybe a fantasy movie with a Christian source. Either way, it as supernatural elements. And either way, its a great movie 👌🏻😋
I watch movie reactions to see if the reactor reacts in the same way the majority of people who have seen the movie reacts (i.e. surprised at the plot twists, the character development, etc) I did not enjoy this reaction because Lucia already knew EVERYTHING that was going to happen making it very hard to believe that she has not already seen the movie.
Yeah I know! It happens a lot, really annoying! xD (but not always! some movies she does get things wrong 😂😂)
But I can't lie that I was realy pleased by how much she loved it since its one of my absolute favourite movies.
This film is in my top ten all time. I equate John Coffee symbolizing Jesus Christ, plain and simple. John chose to die, he was tired of the evil in this world and knew it was his time, paying for another’s sins so to speak.
