We just got our “meat chickens”. They will be ready in July. We also have a large garden and egg layers. We normally get 14 eggs a day. We process our own beef & pork. I believe everyone should know where their food comes from.
An aviation enthusiast here: the white lines from aircraft are called contrails, short for condensation trails. As the name suggests they are mostly water vapor due to the temperature difference between the outside air at this height and the exhaust from the engines. Nowadays companies want the engines to be as efficient as possible and do as a complete burn of the fuel as possible with current technology and aviation limitations. A complete burn means the engines produce very little harmful gasses especially when we take into consideration the CO2 per person.
I''ve adored you all for years because sometimes whole farm content (or when you were rving) is needed after long days.....that IYKYK though... it's just water vapor getting heated the same way it does when you run a car in winter except it's always cold up that high.... I'm not judging you I believed the 'IYKYK' about that for awhile after some wrong vids on the wrong side of youtube a few years back... Please do research and don't fall into the trap the BAD/dangerous homesteaders are falling into, I'd hate to see you two end up working with scary c*ltist like people.
I want to meet you guys so much! We are first generation homesteaders too in Michigan and I relate to so much of what you show here! I’ve been following since you were in Cali. I’m a ped RN also, and we left the city for the country in 2022! We’ve been homeschooling for 5 years! Thank you for sharing! Anyone can do this, I’m convinced and you share this inspiration so well ❤
I’m so excited about seeing more homesteading stuff from you guys!! As a small town raised, and country girl since I became an adult it’s so neat to see your family go from very city to very country!🤩 Honestly, you know much more than I do about homesteading!!😂 We are working on becoming as self sustaining as possible as well👏🏼
Oooo it is so good to see you both & your beautiful girls🩷🩷🩷.. Thank you for sharing your wonderful life with us, your girls have a truly amazing life, my heart is full to overflowing watching you all living your best life.. You are ( in my opinion) the sweetest family on RUclips & i have been following you since the positive pregnancy test vlogg, when you were carrying Cassidy’.. I then went back & followed your journey from the beginning… I am sending you all of my love & once again, a very BIG Thank You for taking us all along with you, through the good & bad times, I just LOVE you all so much, biggest hugs from your friend across the pond 🇬🇧 Annie❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️
Oh, you guys, i got a flashback of you in you condo in the city. Did you ever expected this? You are stil the same open loving couple i learned to love back than. I wish i could hug you.
So glad to see another video. I love this time of year to watch all the exciting things you all share. Keep the videos coming please when you have the time. Farm life is definitely a busy life and really busy this time of year. ❤
I got 6 chicks about 4 weeks ago. I am learning a lot. They outgrew the Rubbermaid tub pretty quickly and flew out at about 3 weeks. I put them in their coop and I'm working on finishing the enclosed chicken run this weekend. I have Rhode Island Reds and Australorps. Maybe next year I'll see about getting the chicks you got that are cuddlers. 😄
sounds like you will be having lots of eggs in the winter! and certainly MANY MORE in the spring!! congrats! We have Rhode Island and Australorps as well!!! They were some of the first breeds we had
This was a great video! I love finding bargains too. I'm the photographer in our family and I don't like photos of me but I'm trying to remember to have some taken anyway. ❤
I love that. My husband sands our new cast iron 16:16 down. They are great! Fried eggs are the best on burgers! And we make a breakfast burger and mix sausage in our hamburger meat, then the fried egg. So good 17:31
And I can’t afford to have my gas stove installed. So I’ve got it listed for sale. But I bought a wall oven, top of the line, for $50. And my car was dying and I got the next level up truck used still with a years warranty for under $40k
Love watching your family and I have learned a lot from you. For your DIY Mayo, how can you make it a little thicker, so I could use it for Chicken Salad or on a Sandwich? Thank you for all you share with us.
Hello. Congratulations on your new chicks 🐥 🐣. Yes the burger salad sounds good but kinda like my taco salad it has beef too. Alex I’ve never had a fried egg 🍳 on my burger. ♥️♥️♥️
Alex you are a awesome person at least you were trying awesome job, Phil you are a magnificent husband ever 😀 ❤️ 😊 thank heaps from Ronnie 😅❤😅from Geelong Vic Australia ❤️ 🇦🇺 ❤
Chicken math is real!! I failed math in school but I’m REALLY good at chicken math 😂😮 So… it all started with 26 hatching eggs from Jenks Hatchery (Americas oldest hatchery)… we drove 5 hours both ways, to get them…. Out of those 26 eggs 90% were males…. I got 4 females out of those 26 eggs…I got color pack Blues and Mystic marans… So while waiting for my 22 baby roosters to go to their new homes 😂😅 I went to a famous feed store in our area and purchased pullets, some rare ones…. Blue laced Barnevelders, regular laced Barnevelders a few Easter eggers and some creme legbars…. And out of those “pullets”….. I got 4 males 😂😢… we kept one of the Blue laced Barnevelder Roos… he’s so wonderful and he’s beyond beautiful…. So THEN …. Last summer, I had a freak outbreak of Coccidiosis and lost 4 of my young barnevelder girls, it happened very, very quickly…. So after everyone was better…. I got another round of chicks…. Blue Australorp’s and some extremely rare mottled Javas…. And out of those…. Again…. One was a roo…. Yes, yes I cried. I honestly cried when I saw that pink comb coming in and thick legs….😭😭😭 My point in telling you all this… is now I have 41 chickens, 😅😜👍🏼…. It’s all started with those 26 hatching eggs. I love them all to bits. Funnest hobby ever, that just happens to poop breakfast ❤️💕👍🏼
oh my goodness!!!!! that's wild you only got 4 Females from 26! 😮😮😮😮😮 Coccidiosis spreads so fast with them, doesn't it?! love chickens and how they entertain and help the garden process! thanks for sharing, Trina!
Wow Kinsley helping with the hot cooking now. Does the handle of that cast iron pan get hot? I know mine sure does, I have to use a tea towel or oven mitt. :) no fried eggs on my burger I'll pass thanks Alex, do you ever just sit down in your family room and have a coffee, chat etc :)
I love the Welsummer , Polish crested , and barred rock ( Plymouth rock ) breeds. No fried eggs , boiled eggs , mustard , or mayo in anything I make ..I hate all of it 😂
I've heard the Plymouth Rock connection before but never called them that! Interesting! If you don't like the ingredients we like, that's totally fine! What do you like on your hamburger?
Tomato , pickle , cheese , and jalapenos .. I know I'm weird about my condiments ! What happened was ..this is gross.. My mom MADE me eat a bologna sandwich when I was around 4. It had mayo . I threw up all afternoon ..evening..overnight ..lol , she never made me eat anything I did not like again. Boiled eggs. ( the egg white ), it's a texture thing. They are like a rubber texture . I can eat a boiled egg yolk though . When I make tuna salad , I use French onion dip or sour cream to bind it together. I cut up grape tomatoes , bread and butter pickles , and black olives. It's actually good. Love your content and family ❤ Prayers for you on your journey to expand your family.
I’m curious if you have considered the difference between well bred chickens and farm store types? I spent a LONG time finding a good chicken breeder (dog person here lol), but I’m wondering how much of a difference that makes. I’ve heard some of the “cheaper” ones die earlier of a variety of issues. Have you experienced that with any of yours?
Do y’all have any tips on taking a roo? One of our Rhode Island reds from a pulley run became a roo. We have another roo which we chose because he’s on the smaller side. Anyway the RIR is starting to be aggressive to my son and sometimes me. Any tips? They aren’t free ranging yet but I know he’s just doing his job but I need him to learn that we are safe.
we re-home our Roosters when we see the first sign of aggression. Lots of people on Facebook in local co-op groups will take them for their flock if you decide you don't want them again. We've used them for bone broth in the winter as well. and their feathers make a great compost addition if you go that route.
In Scotland we have all the time I love egg tatie scone slice sausage lots red sauce or burger egg mayo tomato sauce nanapollyx Scotland 🙏🌻🌞💝🌟💓🌞🌄💙🦸🍰🍪🍩☕👸💐🌻😊🌞💓🌞
Goodness!! You can buy mayonnaise at the store for less than what you spent on all the ingredients you bought at the store to make the mayonnaise.. What's the reason you do the DIY??
great question! there's a few reasons to make your own mayonnaise at home vs store. 1. (HEALTH) There are less ingredients, fillers, and harmful oils when you make it at home with the mentioned ingredients. 2. (QUALITY) we know where the eggs come from to make them (our backyard) 3. (FRESHNESS) Making it yourself allows maximum freshness of product. Having said that, I understand why people would rather just not deal with the hassle and purchase from the store. On many occasions, we have purchased and love the brand CHOSEN FOODS Avocado oil Mayo. Hope this helps answer your question.
I have a garage, but the door doesn't work so we park under the carport, but we're about to fence that off and start raising meat rabbits 😂 so we won't have that either 😂😂
They are doing great!! We see them about once per week and they are so very helpful!!! They do many many social engagements in their community, which is why you don't see them much when we vlog! They do the grunt work before the camera comes out 😅 😜
After you do it you have to be patient, it takes a couple weeks of cooking to get it good. But it's totally worth it. I have used the same pan every single day for 3 years now and I'm excited for many more!
I can't believe how grown up the girls are! How time flys! ❤
We just got our “meat chickens”. They will be ready in July. We also have a large garden and egg layers. We normally get 14 eggs a day. We process our own beef & pork. I believe everyone should know where their food comes from.
We agree!! Awesome to hear, Suellen!
I remember when you guys lived in California and Alex was so excited for the rain and now you guys live on a farm. Love it!
The chick are adorable as are the girls! Long way away from the condo you had when I first started watching you.

I saw the cross of Jesus ❤
No they are not, these do not evaporate, they expand until they cover huge areas.
@suzanneschuon6609 of course they don't evaporate. It's physics. Different temperature and pressure up there
I was watching Gunsmoke one day and I saw contrails in one of the episodes. lol
They are filling the atmosphere with different types of chemicals that are causing all kinds of problems in our environment.

Good question! we do the same for sandwiches and add less red wine vinegar or you can add more mayo
Buffs are so gentle. I have one left. Her name is Mama. She is over 7 years old now.
sooooo gentle. They are the only chicken that when you say, "sit" they listen! :)
Hello. Congratulations on your new chicks 🐥 🐣. Yes the burger salad sounds good but kinda like my taco salad it has beef too. Alex I’ve never had a fried egg 🍳 on my burger. ♥️♥️♥️

Hey Alex, you might want to invest in a pair of fencing pliers they work wonders!
we lost them about a month ago somewhere in the brush during a fencing project. Just borrowed a metal detector to see if we could find them again.
I got a stainless steel large roaster with a rack for $35. Retails for over $140. New never unpacked until I did.
oh wow! What a bargain!
We grew up dem city folk 😅😂
I’ve never heard of fried egg in a burger but now I’ve got to try it.
Fried egg: tastes amazing, but the texture is too much for me. The rest of my family loves it!
I’ve never had a fried egg in my burger someday I will try it for sure. I do have chickens.🤪
I love your family!! ❤️ I enjoy your videos so much!!
I like a fried egg on my burger. I usually cut up boiled eggs for a salad, though. Good either way, I’m sure!
I want dibs on the chef cooking the hamburger😂😂😂. No egg on my burger
Do y’all have any tips on taking a roo? One of our Rhode Island reds from a pulley run became a roo. We have another roo which we chose because he’s on the smaller side. Watching your family gives me hope 54 homeless for first time I have my 3 dogs and a cat
You guys need a freeze dryer for your eggs....we have chickens and it's how we save our eggs....
I like a fried egg on my burger for sure! Baby chickens are so cute.
I think the first time I had one was in St. Louis, MO!! it's become a staple now!
In Scotland we have all the time I love egg tatie scone slice sausage lots red sauce or burger egg mayo tomato sauce nanapollyx Scotland 🙏🌻🌞💝🌟💓🌞🌄💙🦸🍰🍪🍩☕👸💐🌻😊🌞💓🌞
We hatched/raised chicks in my 4th grade class.
What about pickles for the cheese burger salad? I’m not sure about the egg but maybe I should try it.
pickles would be very good!!!!
You can take a grinder to modern cast iron and get the inside smooth. I think Ben from Hollar Homestead has a video out on it.
oh yes! I've seen that video!!! I have a few cast irons in the basement I still need to grind down when I get a little more down time!
Goodness!! You can buy mayonnaise at the store for less than what you spent on all the ingredients you bought at the store to make the mayonnaise.. What's the reason you do the DIY??

I have a garage, but the door doesn't work so we park under the carport, but we're about to fence that off and start raising meat rabbits 😂 so we won't have that either 😂😂
This dilemma is near and dear to our hearts.
I really am the photographer, like my real job is photography. I NEVER get in any photos and if I do it’s the worst possible angle. 😂
Miss not seeing more of you on a regular basis
Guys where have you been ? We miss you ! 👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️
I'm super happy to see a new vlog.
My husband’s favorite is a fried egg on his burger!
How are Philip's parents. We don't see much of them.
They are doing great!! We see them about once per week and they are so very helpful!!! They do many many social engagements in their community, which is why you don't see them much when we vlog! They do the grunt work before the camera comes out 😅 😜
So so sweet! ❤❤❤
I always get excited when I see a new video out from you all❤
Glad you guys are back ❤
My adult son once asked me why I was never there. I told him, 'who do you think took all those pictures?' 😀
hahahaha!!! now aint that the truth!!!! ?
Never tried the fried egg, but can say it doesn't sound unappetizing. Just never considered it.
if you like fried eggs, try it!!
I have lodge pans of all sizes and a lodge Dutch oven. I don’t use anything else.
I took a rotary sander to my cast iron. Smoothed it out. Washed it with soap and reasoned it. It's a million times better now.
ok! I ALMOST talked about that! we've seen many do this successfully!! just have to wash and re-season it a bunch!!!
After you do it you have to be patient, it takes a couple weeks of cooking to get it good. But it's totally worth it. I have used the same pan every single day for 3 years now and I'm excited for many more!
Egg in burgers are elite 🤤 especially a farm fresh egg
I'm from the town that made Wagner Ware. Sidney, Ohio
Chillicothe Ohio here!!
Cloud seeding
God made those straight lines in the sky
Aww cute little chicks!🐥
Can you please list what all you put in that salad? 😊
If you go back to that point in the vlog, you can see the ingredients listed and screen shot / save it for the future!! tell us how it goes
I've never had fried eggs on a burger. Sounds interesting, though.
Make homemade pasta with all the extra eggs!
I have question what can we do for our chicken that does have eggs at all today?
are you saying that your chicken doesn't make any eggs?
Yes, I know about those straight lines in the sky. Waiting for the day I can scoop my babies up and start a farm 🥰 x
