My grandfather was a diver and mechanic in WW2. One of his responsibilities was assisting in the raising and examination of sunk Japanese ships (he was very impressed by Japanese ingenuity, though he expressed it in rather grudging terms). One of the ships he helped raise and examine was the Kikuzuki, which was sunk by planes from a "Big Sis Aircraft Carrier" USS Yorktown. When I hear this song, I now think of my grandfather's fleet tug help to bandage up a (likely confused) Kikuzuki. lol
Beowulf DW To bad Kikuzuki wasn't saved. Today, it still sits on the beach where it was left, but the hull has collapsed. Unless someone will forward the money to rebuild the upper half of the ship, it seems like she's staying there
@@sirboomsalot4902 I doubt that anyone will want to put forward the money to attempt to restore what is at this point little more than metal in the vague shape of a warship. I heard that one of the guns was recovered for restoration by the Japanese, though.
Beowulf DW Was your grandfather on the USS Prometheus? According to Wikipedia, she was the ship that raised Kikuzuki. I wonder if there is anything left of Nagatsuki. She was beached near Bambari Harbor, and I can’t find anything shout her being scrapped other than that she was bombed
Definitely true whenever you fight an aircraft carrier in kancolle or world of warships. I know that I fought one on my own using a destroyer and it was NOT a great battle for me or my allies.

Chinjufu is something that only exists in Japan and doesn't have a corollary in English. It is true that most Chinjufu are naval bases, but that is a somewhat incomplete description. They were also used in the old days for the army. The name itself does not imply anything naval, it can literally be translated as "Peacekeeping Defense Government Office". The most recent usage of this word is to describe a major center of operations for the navy, such as "Kure Naval District". But, you cannot call any normal naval base a chinjufu. I don't know where the use of "guardian office" started and I only see it used for KanColle, but it was commonly used and somewhat unique enough to convey the idea, so I use it too.
The Akatsuki sisters take a trip to Nashville Tennessee

They met Battleship Tennessee on the way

日本語の上達のために翻訳をなされてるようなのでちょっと補足を
ぱっちりとばっちりは同じ擬態・擬声語の表現ですがちょっと意味が違います
参考までに
www.rondely.com/zakkaya/dic5/gt6-1.htm

Moooh. Because...yeah.
I think it's the cutest thing I've seen today
cute.
I read somewhere that "guardian office" is how you write "naval base" in kanji, but it shouldn't really be translated as such.
