    Almost former Parkside Darkside resident here (IRC). The suites are great because of the AC, dining hall is just a few metres away from the dorms/apartments, and it’s quiet. It definitely isn’t as social as the residence halls (Pardee, NN, etc) and further away from the village and libraries (but nothing a good skateboard/e-scooter/bike can’t fix). If you decide to take the Expo Line to go to Santa Monica, it is a less than five minute walk. Also, if you get the student football season tickets (highly recommended), you are so close to the Coliseum. Diana is giving great advice and a good impression of each type of living situation for incoming first year students.

    Hi I’m that USC Mom. My daughter is miserable with her roommate. She’s a freshman and her original roommate ended up not committing to USC. She matched with another roommate who lies abou who she is. This girl parties way to hard and qas supposed to be at that party dorm, but her roommate there ghosted her. I highly recommend anyone getting to know their roommate early on soon as you know. Be who you really are bcs it will be hell if you’re fake. My daughters roommate has been reported so many times and getting their problems resolved is draining. Very sad. Be yourself and be courteous. Understand every roommate has flaws and so do you. Try to work it out. If you can’t it will get so ugly.

    Hey! This was my very first freshman guide video I've watched ever on anything surrounding college/university. I just finished my questbridge application, and UofSC is my 1st choice. This made me feel so comfortable with the possibility of my attendance there, or any other school. Thank you!

    Hi Diana! I really appreciate your videos as a first gen Latina! I was wondering how the housing process goes. Do I get first pick on where I live, or does USC assign me the place where I’m going to live based on my ranking? Thank you!

      Hi Vianca! To be completely honest I’m not sure but I think it’s based on availability and your ranking :)

    Hi Diana! I got in through USC early action and got the deans scholarship so I’m elegible for McCarthy. However, I’m stuck in between McCarthy and Pardee because I’m a first generation Latino and I want to connect with people who are similar. I also want to have a good social life with parties but have some quiet time as well. Where would you recommend I should live?

    • @dianizz
      @dianizz  Год назад +1

      Hi David! Congratulations :) I think if you really want to connect with other Latinos then I definitely recommend Pardee!! That’s where I met all my Latino friends and I had a great experience. I think you can still have some quiet time there and have a social life.

    Which dorm should I choose if I'm an engineering student, but also someone who wants the "social" life? I'm thinking of choosing one of the residence halls that is closest to viterbi. Thank u!!!

    This video was so eye opening thank you so much! How does the housing work with upperclassmen undergraduates? Is there on campus housing that you can live on for all four years?

    • @dianizz
      @dianizz  Год назад +3

      Yes, there is on-campus housing for upperclassmen but space is very limited. You simply have to apply for the general lottery but most likely they'll place you in Gateway or some of the other apartments!

    • @dianizz
      @dianizz  Год назад +3

      I feel like you might feel out of place living with freshmen lmfao, but with a suite/apartment you have your own space + can still be social. Just get involved on campus and go to events so you can meet people :)

    I am deciding whether to be at IRC in the WISE LLC or in Pardee in the Latin X floor because I am from Ecuador and would love to have Latina friends. But idk if IRC would be better since I am an engineering student. I am really outgoing and love to chat and Idk if that goes well with IRC.

    • @dianizz
      @dianizz  Год назад

      I suggest going with what you want to experience more of. Do you want to be around Latin people more or engineering students?! Keep in mind that you’ll most likely still find other people in your major through your classes and that’s how you can also connect. For instance, I loved going to my dorm and speaking Spanish to my roommate yet I still had a good couple of business friends that I made through my classes! Plus IRC might be more difficult to be super social as compared to the dorms at Pardee! But again if you prefer your own space/bathroom then I’d go with IRC :)
