cant believe no comments for 2 years. Bless you Belfast Teds, you are an inspiration and a measure of dedication, looks like you knew how to have fun too.Love and regards from north Wales, hope you still got the gear like I do
Y yo soy una chica rocker rockabilly desde 1988-1989 pero me gustan mucho ciertos grupos punks como The Clash,Reincidentes en España y muchos otros. Saludos y buena música del tipo que sea...
The teddy boy days were fun, happy times where young people simply enjoyed the music and actually danced together. We had work, spent our money on clothes, a beer or three, dated girls, bopped the night away and then back to work on Monday and then along came a mortgage, family and routine. You can witness in these videos, we actually smiled and would you believe it, had conversation with our friends. Coffee bars and motor bikes, big cars and Craven A, friendships that lasted beyond midnight, drainpipes, brothel creepers and petticoats, politics were for others, we had Rock & Roll.
Exactement on était heureux et sans insouciance..aujourd'hui 2022 l heure est grave..heureuse d avoir vécue cela c était formidable gros bisous à vous..amitiés
Great days, I was a member of the Chosen Few MC at the time and often frequented the Bailey Bar before heading to The Pound Club. Big Bear was always there, and still see him the odd time at the custom bike show in Belfast, keep on rockin'!
Baignée dedans depuis mon berceau avec mon défunt papa mais il m'a donner un joli testament..vive le rock n roll et rock a billy vive les teddy.s boys et teddy girls..voilà la vraie vie
Anyone recognise Cavan 😎 R.I.P. my friend many happy nights at the Rockers Reunions with him and the band, South Wales 70s scene for me,spent my first wage on a pair of Blue suade Creepers brilliant times still see some of the people who have gone "Rockabilly" Teds ruled for me ,done weymouth weekenders great 😎🏴🏴🏴😎
nice to see the Belfast boys great looking scene. we had and still do a great scene in Edinburgh Scotland we had the Glasgow boys and some of the guys from Newcastle in England used to come up to Scotland and party and we used to put them up at our houses the chicks never get much of a mention but the girls looked great and sexy looking.
Lloyd Dutch: Great attitude!!! Feel the same, when all these mainstreamers stare at my oldfashioned clothes and hairstyle... but, actually, I enjoy it, makes me feel to be a more interesting person than they are. And I love discussing about music with people in my age, funny that they havent got a real reason for why they listen to this modern crap. May the Teds live forever, hail hail Rock'n'Roll!!!
Enjoyed this watching this video as myself and a few others are actually in it several times. Also noticed that a lot was copied from the short film made by the Northern Ireland arts council called Greenisland Rock back in the early 80s as i have the Original video that they made.
you can always tell an original '50's Teddy Boy from the Showaddywaddy clowns of this era (as seen here). Nothing beats the original style. We didnt have bright blue, red and pink drapes, never had skin tight trousers, never had exaggerated sideburns almost touching our chins, never had thick soled brothel creepers, never had tattoos, ear-rings or hair onto our shoulders. Showaddywaddy have a lot to answer for. On a positive note, the original style is making a little comeback.
no need for hate brother , if your a 50's ted you'd have to be ,what 75 or 80 ? me thinks not , the scene is different now in the 20's to the 00's to 90's , 80's, 70's ,,50's give it a rest champ , in oz we'd call you a wannabee or simply wanker, cheers from down under
@@billbearback2591 No hate here my friend just an honest evaluation. If you cannot take someones personal opinion without using insults then please go elsewhere. You are accurate about my age, so what? I do not do insults as we have far too many for Australians and we would be here all day and night. Long live freedom of speech. G'day matey!

I grew up in the 70's and, for a long time, thought that the Teddy Boys of that era simply copied the original 50's look. Recently, on a nostalgic whim I wanted a pair of creepers just like the ones I grew up with, only to discover from a book by Ray Ferris and Julian Lord that the original (George Cox, I think) creepers had soles of no more than one inch thick! I learned a lot about the original Teddy Boys from that book and, as you say, the 50's Teds didn't sport ultra long sideburns or wear brightly coloured drapes etc. Bit of an eye opener as I grew up with Showaddywaddy, Mud, etc. ! I think Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood kind of highjacked the original look and exaggerated it for punk, maybe. Still, I grew up in the 70's, so for me a pair of thicker crepe shoes was nostalgic, and I eventually found a pair and bought them! Not the original 50's look, but a part of my own youth I guess, which is what I wanted. The book is a really good read!
Thanks man, never saw it that way, you made my day mate. I have alot of fun, I really enjoy all the music and banter I have with other people, there is always an initial barrier what with them wondering why i am dressed in such a way, but hell, if we based our liking of humans on appearance only then we would be a lonely people.

Anybody heard of Jim & Robin Truesdale from Glengormley back in the early 80’s?
