- We've had Apple iPad Pro M4 for a month now. Did it hold up? Was it worth it? Should you buy one? Let's talk about how it actually feels to use every day for a month! A one month later review.
**Update: It looks like ClipStudio updated at the end of May! I'll check it out and update my thoughts in videos in the future (here or on my sub channel, Focused Lines)**

You nailed it! If you like it, buy it. Don’t even listen to other people saying it’s not. I like the new M4 ipad, it comes really close to the term “magical sheet of glass”
yes, and hooked with an Apple Studio Display achieve all my needs. Figma(Figurative), Meetings and Google Office stuff. It seems futuristic and a new way of computing.
The screen color accuracy in reference mode is top tier. It matches my reference monitor that costs 5 times more.
All the idiot Schills saying what Apple wants them to, then saying later it’s not worth it. Just shut up and enjoy it. It’s awesome. Games it’s night and day difference! Great review thank you
People are either jealous, ignorant or trolls.
Upgrading just after WWDC … putting my 2017 standard iPad in the drawer and getting this 13-inch beast! Yay for me!
yes, even with a tri-fold case on it, it's mind blowing his thin and light it is !
I have exactly the same experience as you. I always take off the folio case because my 13" iPad Pro feels too heavy with it. Also I use it much more often than I used the 12.9" M1 iPad Pro because that one was just too heavy for me. I can't believe there are still people that claim that nobody hoped for a lighter iPad Pro!
I want it for the m4 and tandem oled alone.
That’s exactly why I upgraded to the 11-inch M4 from the 2020 iPad Air. Trust me, you’ll absolutely love it
Bought one earlier, should arrive tomorrow. Upgrading from a 2018 11 inch Pro to the 11 inch M4. Price was absurd imo, but I plan on keeping it for a long time. Hoping Procreate will update soon so I can try out the new pencil features!
I'll buy one around November while, I tried it and I love it and upgrade from 11 to 13 at least to me its worth it
Nice! Why November?
@@NihongoGamer In my city there´s not Apple Store, it takes a few month to stock official apple resellers, also in november its my birthday, ill gift it to myself
Same complaints. Face ID is annoying as fucc on this. It is frigging awesome though and you really hit it on the head at the end, picking up the m4 pro makes you feel so good and ready to create something.
I have M1 Pro and your videos have convinced me that there's been enough improvements and made me excited about the M4, but the Pro's are so expensive that I cannot even imagine to upgrade just after just 3 years. Cannot wait to see what other upgrades they make in these years.
I wonder, in the summer does the M4 get too hot while you use it on Clip Studio or other heavy applications? The M1 surely does if it's charging, and the battery doesn't last long enough, so it must be charging. ; - ;
I was outside with my 11-inch M4 doing some very normal stuff (web browsing, RUclips, note taking all with stage manager active). I live in Central Florida so it was quite hot outside to say the least. Thankfully, while it did get fairly hot from being out in the sun, I didn’t notice any thermal throttling or screen dimming which definitely happened on my old iPad. I even had it plugged in for some of that time and it got hot from that, but again no major throttling from what I could tell. Keep in mind I was not using heavy applications, but I’m planning on doing that soon, so I’ll reply to this comment again when I do that
I’ll def have to see how it handles the hot Japanese summer with clip studio, Final Cut and a variety of others
Depends where you come from and your income, for us it is like a month of 'snack' budget from ipad air 256 to the cheapest M4, I think it worth the price, I agree I want something that I am excited and proud of, if I bought the air one I believe I would always thinking there is another better model in the market and a bit sad about it..... (I am using the ipad for netflix and youtube, now start a bit drawing but totally not related to the industry)
Give how much they're asking for this, it's disappointing that there's these kinds of oversights. But overall these are relatively minor.
13” starts at $1299 so it’s a pricey tablet. I feel that considering what it’s capable of it’s well worth it if you have use for its features. Especially for artists.
I quite like mine. I tried the Pencil Pro, but it felt...strange, when I tried to draw with it. And it's kind of ridiculous to market a feature like barrel roll when no apps have been configured to use it. I ended up returning the Pencil Pro, but I may buy it once barrel roll has been updated.
Is the magnet on your Apple Pencil coming out of it? Or is it external damage?
Not sure. The pencil is usually attached to the iPad so I doubt it’s external damage. Presumably the magnets get hot and cause discoloration of the plastic
@@NihongoGamermy old apple pencil 2nd gen had this but tbf i bought it second hand, i got a brand new 2 gen pencil for my m2 that i got, ive had it since january and use it ALL the time since im a digital artist but i personally haven’t had this problem so i found it quite weird
How interesting. I wonder if I got a bad batch? Might bring it to the store if I’m nearby
@@NihongoGamerthis is normal , it has happened on all the Apple Pencils I have owned . Nothing to worry about it’s just the reaction of the magnet with the plastic it doesn’t affect functionality. It’s well documented specially in Reddit forums.
✝️ Subbed! Great video… very informative! God bless in 2024! ✝️
Do you recommend screen protector for the ipad nano texture?
i hate that you have to hold the pencil a certain way for it to work properly. I had a surface pro 3 back in the day and i compare the ipad to it constantly and it falls short in many areas compared to the surface pro 3
1 month after iPad Pro M4 announced.
I wish I got the blue denim case
Do you recommend a matte screen protector for art?
Logic v2 is live tho 😉📲
OK I’m gonna download try it asap!
Yeah, but…is the D-pad good?
lol even if it had a d-pad I'm sure I'd find something that bothers me about it
Should you buy one no for that amount get studio laptop for work than that waste.
Doesn't matter when it has crappy software. I'd rather buy the upcoming Surface Pro.
And?? What you are doing here?? Bye bye
Surface Pro also an awesome product with some real advantages in certain areas
Hahaha 😂 Just buy a laptop software guy , you don’t want a tablet you want a PC. Too different to appeal to the same demographic, stop asking for the Ipad to be a mac or windows computer because it will not be that for at least 12 years more until they solve the cooling problem that makes it inneficient to run pc’s OS
IPad isn't running a desktop OS because it would cannibalize Mac sales, not because of cooling problems, not sure why you think that. Macs and iPads use the same silicon and architecture, an iPad could absolutely run macOS just fine. Apple would have to change it a lot to have it scale and be touch compatible for iPad but I don't see that happening. Although it's been a while, I've used Surface devices too (the Surface Pro for and the Surface Studio Book), and I think they're pretty great, but tablet mode on Surface was always meh because of Windows. Ultimately I'd rather have a dedicated tablet plus a Windows laptop (or MacBook) instead of a combo.
Unfortunately, Windows gets in the way of it being a great device. The iPad isn't perfect, as iPadOS leaves a lot on the table for the hardware underneath, but the battery life is amazing and they last forever. The Surface I purchased prior to an iPad Pro 2017 model was horrendously plagued by Windows just sapping the battery with a bunch of useless Windows crap running in the background. That and all honesty the Surface's apps aren't great. I have a desktop and I'm not looking to have those apps on a tablet per se, versus apps that make complete sense from a touch and pencil standpoint. Despite iPadOS being kind of an oddball, I'm not entirely looking to replicate my Macbook Pro on the iPad device -- maybe if you could switch modes it'd be interesting, hard to say without seeing and using it.
buy based on apps you are interested in. Not your taste. Gamer, okay, not here.
in all honesty though, the mini led screen is just as black.
…Until you add white text. Don’t get me wrong, the mini led screen is fantastic and still a great option for most people, but the tandem oled definitely wins here on a technical level
@@themightytammos you just can't see a difference in normal use.
@@beautyneytiri I definitely can, but I also know I’m in the minority with that. You aren’t wrong
You do know there are a million other cases to choose from that are a thousand times better than Apple’s right? 😂😂😂LITERALLY just buy a different one
But then he wouldn't be able to create content to get upset about.
A lot of nitpicks
Quite a few yeah but still a great tablet
getting my cellular version tomorrow, cant wait!
LOL! It was so funny watching you talking about how annoying it is to use face ID on this while it's laying flat on a surface. I will have mine soon, but it was good to be aware of this. Seems like we'll be having to do it the "old fashioned" way, manually entering a password.
And oh my god... did it get scratched at the end??
Nah luckily it was safe!
Good points about the pencil. Good job in not just echoing the same tiring talking points.
art studio pro has supported barrel roll and squeeze since a few days after release... great video though
Thanks for the info! Yeah part of the waiting is my own fault for waiting for clip studio and procreate. I should try some new apps!
I finally bought it and liking it so far. I got Apple Pencil Pro free due to student discount and 20% off of iPad as well.
Ah, the good ol' days of student discounts
Oh oh the ipad falls and oh my god… The screen!!! I PUT THE ARMORED CASE ALWAYS…
Thanks 🙏🏼 dude!
Been using pro 10.5 since forever and looking to upgrade this time around !
I’ve been trying to only really listen to reviews from artists because that’s who is going to get the most out of this. I don’t really need yet another review telling me it’s not great for spreadsheets.
Any pixel defects? It's very common I see to have dead sub green pixel and on white you see it pink. What about the grainy grays?
Can’t see any pixel defects on mine but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen at all. Not sure what grainy grays is. How do u test for that?
@@NihongoGamer I think you have to look at the OS menu's at specific brightness level and more close to notice. I'm not sure exactly about the specifics, but Reddit is full with guides how to test/notice it. :)
How to remove the case: hold the screen cover and pry the case at an angle from it like a hinge.
It will come off instantly.
Try to write with your Apple Pencil on a turned off screen… You will see magic.
Have you experienced/looked for the greainy/mura display issue?
no peanut butter while touchscreening
What about the grain issue? Apple lovers saying that all oled panels suffer the same problem... That's a big fat lie.
What situations does this become noticeable? I think maybe I haven’t been using it in situations where it’s obvious.
i like the DTTO or other cases which have the surround cubby for the pencil. With cove closed, cubby is covered too. No future flabbiness of fabric or elastic fray. Hands on, ipad mini, liked. But, material of cases edges are not use friendly, and not easily cleaned. There are pro ipad sizes. Not sure the good outweighs bad for those sizes. But, yrs, for mini.
I have the 12.9” M1 and have the 11” M4 on the way. Hoping I don’t regret my decision on trying to balance productivity and portability. I feel 11” will still be great for drawing
My 9.7” was great for drawing. And that’s a size they don’t even make anymore
256 or 512GB?
@@daleonwheeler3717 1TB. I wanted the nano texture and I’m glad I did. I get that it’s not for everyone though.
I got the 11 inch M4 on release date,Pencil Pro,and Magic Keyboard the 11 inch is my sweet spot, dude you’re actually abusing your pencil that’s why I it looks like that,I dropped my on my concrete driveway and there’s no damage,I don’t baby my electronics however, they’re not made for test shock, drops bending, they’re actually computers on a more useable platform (touchscreen, pencil to write on etc.)
Bruh, no coffee today?🥺🥺🥺
I’m a day off schedule so I’m planning coffee for tomorrow instead ~
After my GCSEs I’m looking to buy an iPad Pro, and I’m not sure between getting the 13 inch or 11 inch, if I were to get the 11 inch I was wondering if it is worth also getting a monitor so I could use an external keyboard and mouse with the monitor and iPad while at home at my desk, but then I could just use the iPad when I’m at school for example. What do you think? Is there any point also getting a monitor, and should I go 11 inch or 13 inch?
You realise I’m the same guy and that you’ve already asked this question right?
@@NihongoGamer oh sorry😭
@@NihongoGamer should I get the 11 or 13 inch though?
If ur a student it’s probably more important to think about cash flow and whether you can afford it. You can def make the 11 inch work and it might even be more convenient for carrying around
@@NihongoGamer ok, I can afford both as my parents are paying for it
I think Nihongo Gamer, forgot that his channel about gaming... but oh well...
Would this pro model be enough to make B&W manga pages? I'm asking because I hate working on drawing tablets, this looks closer to drawing on an actual page. So I would use this iPad as my main "computer" for drawing. Thx to whoever reads this!
You can do black and white manga pages on pretty much any iPad that can run the software. If you have clip studio paint and Apple Pencil (available on most models) you do manga. Other apps work too but clipstudio has lots of screen tone features that make it good for that style of publication.
@@NihongoGamer Thanks a ton, I truly appreciate it! Followed, and good luck for your future projects. 😀
