Snap Weight Walleye - Deep Water LIMITS!

  • We make a road trip to Barcelona Harbor on Lake Erie’s Eastern Basin near the Pennsylvania and New York border chasing suspended walleye using snap weights and worm harnesses. The fish in this area of the lake tend to be suspended in deep water at this time of year. We have really loved the snap weights for their ability to get to a precise depth quickly using monofilament line which makes for a better experience fighting the fish. We limit out on nice walleye and share some cool catches.

    How do you like those low profile ( convector???) verses a reg cold water 15 or 20 model okuma? What lb test you run on the low profile? Thanks.

      We really like those low profile line counters. We have the smallest size and then one up from that. The low profile fits your hand better than the cold water in my opinion and that lower fragile is nice for storage. We spool them up with 12 pound mono.

    Thank you guys. Your videos are the best! I have learned a ton from watching you. Is it worth fishing out of Buffalo Harbor, or do I have to go farther west? Buffalo Harbor is already an hour and a half drive for me.

      Glad you’re enjoying the videos! Fishing hasn’t been great for us out of Buffalo. I would try Dunkirk or Barcelona. Good luck!

    Is there a dive curve for the heavier snap weights?

      The precision trolling app only goes to 3 ounces.

    I've noticed on several walleye fishing videos that no one turns the clickers off when reeling in the fish. Can anyone tell me why? Is it a personal decision?

    • @willsworldoutdoors
      @willsworldoutdoors  2 месяца назад

      The clicker is an ongoing debate in our boat. We turn it off because the camera really picks up the loud clicking noise and it can be annoying to viewers and is just noise over any other audio but others like it left on as an indicator that line is either coming in or going out. Really just personal preference.

    Try some 6 & 8 oz snaps- much shorter leads and WAY faster turn-around times getting those baits back in the 'zone', not to mention less distance over which to lose those poorly hooked fish. Might want to use the magnums if you run them off in-line boards.

    • @willsworldoutdoors
      @willsworldoutdoors  2 месяца назад +1

      We will do that. Just picked up some 8oz weights for the rods closest to the boat and a friend has been experimenting with shorter leads from weight to the bait without missing a beat. It would really help with turns and getting lines back down faster. Thanks!

      @@willsworldoutdoors Here's a hack a few old-timers have imparted- have 30' lead on crankbait, snap on the 8 oz, and let out as much line as the depth you are targeting while keeping speed around 2 mph. Often times these rods are run up front and troll almost under the boat. And as you know, putting speed up or down slightly will move those baits up and down in the column triggering more bites. Keep those lines tight boys. From the North shore of Erie.
