This is another one of my VWs in the collection and it's actually a very cheap model that went on sale on big discount stores like Sam's Club with an "Exclusive" tag... but... is it?

The 1955 VW Beetle is actually an old casting of Bburago from Italy before MC Toys acquired Bburago and moved the production to the Maisto factories. Surprisingly Maisto seems to don't figure out that the pattern on the bumpers weren't on the regular 1955 VW Beetle except the very special 1,000,000,000 golden Beetle because only this one had the glass pearls on the chrome parts :-D I am wondering why they aren't selling it under the Bburago brand as it actually is a Bburago model - and Maisto actually also had a cool old VW Beetle but the 1951 version as Export Sedan. Also a very nice model. I am not sure but it looks like that MC Toys used the wheels of the old Maisto model on this Bburago model. The Maisto model didn't have the bigass gap at the engine hood on the back. Sometimes I wished that the manufacturers could also improve their older castings with better details instead of just producing the same again just in a different color. The color is definately a very cool choice on this one. You may also check for the 1951 Export Sedan of the VW Beetle from Maisto as that is definately also cool.

And agree with you, not updating their tooling/casting really shows that they are being lazy. But their newest casts (like the GT500) at least gives me hope that they are working on increasing quality! Thanks for watching brother!
