We thought you might like a look at this 1972 Ford Maverick, from Country Classic Cars in Staunton, IL. It's powered by the original 302 V8, backed by a 3 spd automatic trans. It has all original interior and factory Air Conditioning. It sure would make a fun little sleeper. Thanks for taking a look!
For more info about this car, please check out their website at: countryclassicc...
I hadda 72,, airplane glide shifter,,,sleek car,, subtle tear drop ass end,, super underated car!!!,,
another nice job on your videos... I was just researching Maverick's and actually thought... "let's see if RamblinAround has a video..." and, voila! keep up the good work, you are consistently delivering great vids.
Thanks man, I appreciate that!
Nice, clean Maverick. Somewhat drab color shows off the near-perfect lines & proportions of one of Ford's most important cars. Great video!
Thanks for checking it out, we appreciate it!
I want one with a 351
This was a good looking car before impact bumpers got ahold of it.
Do you still have the little Maverick and if so what are you asking for it and what are the miles on it could you get back and send me a text please thank you very much.?
I would love to buy that car ! ❤️
When I was young and dumb I had a ‘72 with a 302 and A/C and 3 on the tree. Set up very much like this one. Mine was brown with metal flake. Matching brown wheels with ugly FoMoCo stamped moon hub caps. Brown interior w/split back bench seat. No carpet. It had a factory rubber floor covering. It was not a race car but it was a sleeper. I only lost to a 350 Chevelle due to cold temps and the transmission was cold. It didn’t want to shift. I beat 2 350 Novas and a different 350 Chevelle. Plus a Ford F-250 with a 390. That guy was quick. I almost didn’t win that one. It was factory all the way except for dual exhaust. I miss that car. I even dated a girl with an almost identical car. Only hers was a 6cyl auto. We went on our first date before I found out she was driving an almost twin to mine. I miss my Maverick. I had several grill emblems and a couple of gas caps stolen. Sometimes the emblem would fall off but when it was there when I parked it and gone later you know what happened.
Awesome!!! Though cruising at 65 would be best, it will probably smoke the tires and is a blast to drive around town😁
Hi where this place I'm looking for maverick for long time
I've got a 1973 4dr with the 250 I6 with the 3spd auto, she may not be the speediest little land boat but she makes a little noise and looks good doing it.
My uncle had a 72 302 with air conditioning in Ohio he got robbed on tax payday for it and turns out the killer knew it was a coworker of his
That's neat
Thanks for checking it out!
Nice but $10K? Sorry no way.
I would have sworn all 302's were Grabbers too.
I WANT ONE , but to slightly Mod …. Id cutout thattaillight panel & put a 70 Mustang TL pame;l, illuminate those 2 tall extensions on the rear bumper. Tint the windows, Bucket seats & convert to a floor shifter.
The asking price was much less than this when it was new!
My friend had a Grabber he bought new around 1970, maybe a little later, had the floor shift, don't remember whether it was a 3 or 4 speed. It was quick and just a fun car to drive. This would be the ultimate sleeper. Nice interesting car, and looks great.
Oh yeah, a V8 with a stick would be pretty quick. These only weigh about 2,700 Lbs. It would sure be a blast with a 350 - 400 HP crate engine in there. Thanks for taking a look!
Great car! Talk about the ultimate sleeper. Though I loved the Mercury version, the Comet more. It had a more attractive front and rear fascias. My college roommate would borrow from time to time his dad's 4 door with the same red color and black vinyl roof and the icing on the cake was it had the 302. It was tasteful, sounded gorgeous and fast.
Put a 427 in this car
Is it sold?
Why do I always see this stuff when its 3 years old or so? 😒
man, this brings back memories. my buddy in high school had one of these with the 3 on the tree and we spent practically every day just driving around and doing burn outs. lol
My brother had one of these when we were growing up. They are a fairly cheap little car, but they run pretty good. They are really light cars, so it would be a blast with a little extra horsepower under the hood.
My uncle bought in new one in 1971, 302 C4 in dark teal, black vinyl top with the seemingly ubiquitous houndstooth interior. We once went from San Diego(where I was raised) to Los Angeles and back then the speed limit was 65 MPH and the little Maverick with 6 people piled in it didn't even flinch, cruised 70-80 MPH the entire way with nice passing power when necessary. :-)
The C4 trany was awesome, the same (Old) Trany that was used with out failure on almost all of the heavier cars even pick up trucks most of the competitors had trouble with theirs. The GM vehicles came with a pathetic 2speed Power Glide for a much longer period of time ! My 1969 Maverick had the C4 and had the control/indicator on the Tree 1,2,D , 1 and 2 were good for towing or driving on ice and snow D used all 3 gears . If you were going slow enough and stepped on it it would down shift into 1, if you were going about 55 and stepped on it it would down shift into the “Passing Gear 2” . Many other cars of the same era did not have that option. If you lived in the mountains it was nice to have !
I have a factory 74' Grabber. I love these cars. Very underrated. 302V8 A/C power steering, auto idle control, seat belt interlock, disc brakes with a Bench seat ordered because the owner I got it from had a bad back and wanted the super soft vinyl bench. One of 13 of that year with options and colors same as mine. LOL wish it made it worth something.
Ford killed them because they were a “poor man’s Mustang” and getting too popular. They feared it would edge out the mustang for sales. What did that was the 1974 Mustang.
@@MarkMyWords531 That is true to a point. They smoked mustang sales their first model year 1970. But after 74' both the mustang and maverick took hits with emissions regulations. Compact cars took a lead. in 78 when Ford announced the Fox platform they chose the Mercury Capri over the Maverick for the fox platform for 79'. How awesome would it have been if ford toughed it out 2 more years and had a fox body Maverick!?
Now we have a Maverick pick up truck that uses the maverick emblem. Pisses me off so much!!
The “Maverick” truck pisses me off too. It’s interior reminds me of the low quality excessively cheesy plastic interior of my mom’s ‘78 Ford Fairmont. And the Ford Fairmont was an extremely low quality car. And this new “Maverick” truck screams Fairmont. Makes me very sad.
@@MarkMyWords531 Yeah the interior is pretty bad. Fairmont bad. But I will say this, Ford tested the fox body platform on the Fairmont, it was the first fox body, so something incredible at least came from it.
My dad had an grabber and that was the first car I drove at age 8 and man did i lay a strip of rubber and the we found the ditch lol so cool to one
Very nice car . But no Leave engine alone keep it original and dont ruin it. Overall nice original car.

Nice FORD! When I worked for a certain thrift store when I lived in San Diego in'92 I went to make a pick up of donations at a ladies house that had a 4 door ugly green version of a Maverick in a similar condition. If I remember correctly the car I saw had 34,000 miles on the odometer. It was not for sale.
Keep posting the great videos of orginal survivors!!
My brother's first car was a blue 4 door Maverick with the 250 six in it. It actually turned out to be really reliable.
@@RamblinAround I really like the sixes.
Perfect car for a EFI stroked 351 Windsor!
Had one of these 35 years ago it was running bad when I got it and after an oil change tune-up and removing the ac compressor it had plenty of scoot just for being stock and gas mileage was fair this is the only other plain two door with the 302 I've seen my other ones had the 200 or 250 6s nice little cars
Yeah, the majority of them I've seen are the six cylinders. I've seen a couple Grabber's with the 302, but never a plain Maverick like this one.
We had a green 72 with a 302 2V. Served us well for a decade.
Ho Guys / I remember this car 🚘. We used to call it a poor man’s Mustang / 🚂
We used to call them that too. Thanks for taking a look Gary!
1972 302 Maverick was cheaper, lighter, and faster than the 1972 302 Mustang. Anything you could do to the Mustang you could do to the Maverick.
RamblinAround - nice vid! You have to think for a moment just what kind of person would have bought that car... Could it have far more easily been ‘mom & pop’ than you first think...? Reducing emissions was still in its infancy and no-one had any idea what was around the corner just a year later with October ‘73 war induced oil crisis.
I don’t know about MAKING a good sleeper; it already IS! If I could get this car, I wouldn’t change a thing. It probably sounds pretty good as it is, too! Another good reason to not making any changes is, where would you stop?! That front bench seat would be an early ‘casualty’ otherwise you’d be hanging onto the steering wheel for dear life...
Thanks for taking a look at it. It is in pretty remarkable shape for it's age.
My Mom had a Maverick and It was Grabber Blue .black interior ..so odd that it only had a six cyl, auto
I didn't realize until last night that they actually made Grabber Mavericks with the six cyl in them. I thought they were all V8's.
Love that with a V8! It’s cool that it was preserved! And look at that rare AMC Matador back there too!
It is cool to see one in this kind of condition and, of course, the V8 makes it a lot more interesting.
If you mean the blue AMC, that's actually a '78 Concord. My great aunt had one in Khaki. I'd love to have either one or both the Concord and Maverick.
Jeff I agree with you about this car. My buddy Jack from back in the day bought a new 302 Grabber after I had my Mustang and he surprised a lot of people with it ! When he first bought it most people still thought Mavericks were only available with 200 or 250 c.i. 6 cylinders . LOL . We watched a ton of people with surprised looks in the rear view mirror ! Take care my friend.
Yeah, they only weigh about 2700 Lbs, so they can move along pretty well with a V8 in there. Thanks for taking a look my friend!
Yeh 210 hp Maverick versus a 275 hp Demon ,must have been a real challenge !
What a Nice car it reminds me of a favorite tv show maverick whith James garner i love these old western shows have a lot of Them on dvd thanks jeff and Jordan for this video Jordan could put a big Block pontiac engine in this beautyfull car 🤟
Same color Maverick I had in high school, back in 95. Mine was a straight 6 though.
This is a 70!!I I owned6 of them, different, model year.Nice n clean!👍👍👍👍
Nice example it the Maverick, it has the 302 Engine, interiors a/c unit inatalled.
I learned to drive on a '72 and a '70 Maverick. The latter had no power steering or power brakes.
It has the same tail lights as the Pinto.
$10 K? No way for this ugly “classic”.
You have no imagination!!!
Yes way for this beauty. I wouldn’t spend $10k for an ugly brainless nobody like you.
I had a 1970 with 3 on the tree.
Sweet lil Mav !
My dad had a 71 Mav painted matte yellow by him and his brothers. The only thing I remember of that is watching it rust away in the grass at the end of the driveway year after year, and the bees making it their home. Didn't think anything much of it, and seeing this makes me wish he kept after taking care of it. I was able to rescue the Thunderbird at least, and my brother saved the Willy's but the Mav was long gone.
A 302 V8 is lots of motor for such a small car. The sister car is the Mercury Comet. These were made up through 1977.
Yep. Replaced by the unappealing Fairmont.
Aqui no Brasil é um luxo o ford maverick
Just how I would have ordered it with a V8 as well..
It could be a lot of fun with a little work. Thanks for taking a look!
They made these cool little fastbacks from 70 to 77. The sister car the Comet looks identical.
3:1`4 Maybe a carburetor fire at some point? Big dark patch on the air cleaner, and blistered/peeling paint??
I’m really interested. Please send me a message ASAP if still available
Make it a nice Grabber.
The Grabber's are pretty cool, that's for sure. Thanks for taking a look!
Awesome sleeper!
Bench seats; I miss them!
ugh 11k, would have to pass I was thinking 7ish k
11 grand is too high. Maybe $5000?
@@djkenny1202
$5K is too low in that great condition.
For a Maverick? I think 5-6k is Fair.
@@djkenny1202
Everything from the 70s is going up in price.....used ti be u could find a daily driver that needed restoration for $3,500 or so....not anymore and that Maverick is in better condition than a regular daily driver thats why I say more than $5K
Im having a hard time thinking thus is worth more than a 68 VW Bug Convertible I saw for $10k with 60k original in sane shape, original owner. Trouble is these places that buy them to resale at astronomical increases. I bet this was $2000-4000. I still see 5-6k, more if a Special model.
Good ol' Ford prop rod. My brother's 84 Mustang GT had the same one.
Would love to hear it run.
My first car was a blue 73 with a strait six.
My brother had one with the straight six too. It actually ran really well.
RamblinAround I didn’t have it very long, about 3 months. I went to go to work and had a flat tire. So I took my moms car and wrecked her car, a 78 Buick sky lark. So she took my car.
But yeah for being small 6 cylinder it would bark the tires in first and second.
Top speed wasn’t nothing.
How much are you asking for it?
$10,450 It shows that at 3:43 in the video.
Plain Jane. Sleeper. Yes indeed sir. 💯✌🏾
With a little work, it would be a blast to drive. Thanks for checking it out!
This doesn't look like the base model. It has the brightwork on the B pillar and the interior is nicer than the base model
Nice survivor!!
Is it still available????
It's way over priced
$10.5K for was simply amounts to just an old car.
