Great review! I have the same model seen here, although I added a slim black mlok handguard, a black pistol grip, and a wood stock. I have a lot of big dollar guns with fancy optics, but this gun with iron sights is far and away my favorite to shoot! When I first got my, the charging handle was INCREDIBLY stiff and hard to actuate. It took every ounce of strength to charge the damn thing, and it actually hurt my shoulder to charge it more than shooting it did. People recommended breaking it in with 200-300 rounds, so I gave it a shot. Fired 100 rounds through it, disassembled and cleaned, giving special attention to the cocking tube. Lots of metal was coming out. Repeated this process two more times, and it got a little easier each time. On the 4th range trip, everything was buttery smooth! It's always been 100% reliable and functional, but that break in period was tough. Worth it, though!
@@vahnn0 thank you for watching! I plan on doing more reviews in the spring time. Feel free to check out my other content that I have on my channel. Some of it is sent to me by fans and some of it is me just having fun!
What I loved about the HK 91 Tooling and Machinery is that it was calibrated and so precise that you can take any of them made at any time, and the part's are interchangeable including the Scope Mount's! That meant that you would always maintain an accurate Zero without any adjustment's! The biggest drawback was that the spent cases were always dented so there was no reloading of the brass.
@@ONEROUNDLEFT Haha that's your call brother, I love my DSA Bush Warrior classic model FAL, runs great! Really need to get one of these PTR-91's too, plus mags are WAY easier to get for these over FAL's hahahaha, I have 5 steel new production ones but I got super lucky finding those metric mags. Looking forward to the range/ shooting video with this beauty!
@@ONEROUNDLEFT Personally I"m trying to figure out if I should spent ~$1300 on one of these or ~$1800 on a Traditional-style DSA FAL. I've been reading that DSA has had many more QC issues than PTR, but it's hard to accurately measure. I'm also looking into possibly tossing a Rugged Razor 7.62 can on it, but I understand that would call for a different locking piece (#17, 36deg) and possibly a -2 roller but once people make those changes it seems to run much smoother both suppressed and un-suppressed.
Great video. Informative, interesting and well spoken.. One piece of constructive criticism, sound is not great. You probably already knew that. Try a lapel mic, you can get them cheap on Amazon. I'm rooting for your success.
I have the PTR 91 with the A2 wide hand guards and A3 folding stock, mine is the older receiver without the rail so I put a Norwegian military rail and a vortex strike fire red dot on it , a 3 way sling and a clipped and pinned g3 lower housing..I really like it a lot …great video
I would like to put an adjustable stock on mine as well as a thermal sight, and if possible a light and laser/IR illuminator on the front handguard, but have not yet really investigated the feasibility of this, my hope is that if there is a buck to be made, someone has made it possible! it will be like my tacticool ptr91! probably like putting a fart muffler and spoiler on a pinto
Picked up one of these just last month, classic surplus green furniture(including the trigger pack) and a pic rail on the top. Mags are stupid cheap, I had ordered a whole bunch and a new mag is only $8-$12. Can’t wait. To bring it to the range.
After working with and cleaning a lot of Winchester's,Ruger's, Enfields, etc. I learned very quickly that simplicity costs, but is worth it. The original Imported HK-91's cost $750.00 before the Ban! Look at the price now!
The PTR sales rep at the Shot Show a few weeks ago made the offhand comment that their inventory of surplus parts was starting to run low. That and PTR has not increased their MSRPs in some time. That tells me that a price hike is on the way and soon.
Subbed, great content man, Just picked up a FMP Kit , Hesse reciever g3 (clone ofc) yeah, I had never heard of Hesse recievers, until after I already bought the damn thing lol here's hoping I don't have a lemon, but I'll be taking it out and finding out soon! I'll def video my results! Much love and respect bro! Keep doing you!
@@ONEROUNDLEFT Yes, of course the 2A isn't about hunting. I was really inquiring about the hunting. I've been wanting to get a .308 and figured it would be cool to get one of these and if it's accurate enough to hunt it would be a plus.
Do you know how to accomplish a serial # lookup by chance? I have a 16 in barreled PTR with no welded on optic rail or the paddle mag release, and a serial # of AW13xxx. The internal bolt head has a HK marking of 10/90 , so I'm wondering if it's one of their early pre assault weapons ban production models.
im pretty sure you have the GIK model, that isnt made anymore, contact PTR and ask them directly; they still make the 16” barrel versions like the GIRK which is the railed verson of yours and the A3SK which is the all black version.

Actually, the original G3 mounts for the Hensoldt scopes were matched and serialized to a specific rifle.
Yes!!!! Love this beast, really need to pick one up to accompany my FAL. Good stuff brother!
Lol I can review my FAL next if you like

Very detailed vid man, subbed
basically using this as a buying guide
Haha thanks! That’s literally my idea is to provide a buyers guide for anyone looking to purchase!
Our G3'S during my time in the Rhodesian Bush War had a retaining pin on the front of the pistol grip, similar to the other retaining pins.

4-5 grand.😬
I like the rear sight much better on the PTR than I do the Century Arms C-308 that I own.
Agreed. The drum sight is quite nice.

These weapon's are so good that the Military and Police wanted to Hog them for themselves!
Good information. Nice Demo. But can that soundtrack! It competes with the monolog. Sounds like the piece was produced in a funeral home.
Yeah, oversight on my part. I will work on reducing that in the future. Thanks for the positive criticism by the way!
Go with the Factory Advice on using the Bolt/Charging Handle! It works better!
Solid review man
Thank you!

Do people hunt at all with these?
