About the chimney cap. There is a cap that is a weather vain cap and it directs the smoke io flow with the wind and the cap allows the wind to travel around it with no resistance. So this also prevents down drafts
Yesterday I walked all the way from Alto Doraro to Boquete , up the hill to Jaramillo Arriba across the hill & back down to Boquete looking for the farm. Needless to say I didn't find it but had a good long walk w/ some great views . I was hoping to talk to Rodrigo about helping him w/ his build .
I’ve been ‘selling’ coffee for over 14 yrs now - in my small little delivery business... in 2020 I decided to start roasting coffee for my beautiful customers.... I love the process - and I super enjoy when you show us your coffee adventures... some day I’d love to visit and see your process first hand !! Cheers to fellow coffee lovers ! ☕️
*_ Pipe is to small for one of those, best is get an 'H' shaped one, we use them on Sailing Yachts and if ever there was a water problem it solves it in its tracks! _*
Such a cute fireplace. Well done on installing the boot on the ceiling. It looks pretty tight. Lola looks so comfy and content in her bed. Good luck with the coffee. 🤗😘🌼🇻🇪
I'm a roofer and just a little tip, when you fit that decktite (the rubber seal for the pipe) put it as a diamond shape on the roof, rather than the square matching the roof shape. This allows water to easily travel around the decktite rather than pool at the top.
@Insert The thing I had issues with was the last picture from the roof that showed a depression in the rubber boot between the pipe and the mounting plate. In the US we typically see the boot stretched out upward preventing the collection of water in a valley around the pipe. When the valley ring gets full it looks like it would only be relying upon the tension of the boot to the pipe to keep water from running into the house. Does that make sense?
I just took a bite of freshly made jackfruit barbecue at the same time you sliced into yours. So good so healthy to eat fruits and veggies- for the animals, the planet, you and the baby. Xoxo
Kaylee you are glowing! I’m so happy for you guys! Please be careful climbing!!!!! Both times I was pregnant I had balance issues that came on suddenly. My first pregnancy was the worst. I was a professional dancer (ballet) and danced up until 7 months but I also had an on set of sudden vertigo. So you are giving me a heat attach when I saw you climbing the ladder onto the roof! Can’t wait to see baby J being loved by everyone. Be safe!
You both have been inspiring abi and I since day one. You both are truly our favorite pair to watch. We are in the process of rebuilding our van and watching your videos helps keep us motivated. Also, this fireplace is so dope. Cheers
Is there any reason why you couldn't have put the chimney out the side wall avoiding the roof altogether? With a shorter stack obviously. I'm sure they don't have any building regs in Panama as is the case in most third-world countries.
Love seeing your video logs every week. I had to laugh at how small your wood fire is, it’s great to see your perseverance always finds a way to happiness!
Seriously though, things for great coffee: altitude, shade, having ripe red sweet berries at picking time (hire pickers that care to pick only the best), getting the outer shell off completely (it's bitter), roasting until the inner bean is cooked completely, but not burned up. Finally, the finer the grind, the more caffeine will be able to be extracted. Don't do light roast, or green roast, let the fake connoiseurs on blue mtn. do that shit.
Glad to see that you found a solution to the "oops"👏👏👏 The tour of the coffee processing farm was so interesting! Gotta save up my pennies so I can order me some!🤩🤗💜 I love that you say good night to your goats❤️❤️❤️ Stay safe, be well and see ya next time👋👋👋👋
Joe from Central Mass here. Love your videos. Remember that heat rises so from the stove up there will be warmth but from down below the stove’s level it’ll be chilly.
I agree. I’m watching all the shows, TrentandAllie, EamonandBec, and a few others that I can’t recall the names of. Most of the group have safety glasses but constantly don’t use. It’s very hard to watch you guys get hurt. Getting metal in the eye is a bad injury not to mention the pain and finding someone that can help get out the metal because you don’t wanna do that yourself. Please use your safety glasses. I love you guys. You guys are like my kids so behave down there.
Greetings from the PNW. Thanks for the coffee update. Just ordered some as a gift for my sister who lives in Japan. Love you guys/gals! Stay warm/safe!
I just love this couple.. The way they live and see things in life that most of society dont understand. I Always look forward to seeing new content from these guys. I wish you guys nothing but happiness and great success in all your adventures you guys do.. 🙏🙏
10 minutes in your company is faster than a coffee break ^^ It goes too fast! When will the bed be installed in the workshop? Downstairs would be best no climbing in the shade or darkness, that steep ladder makes me worried about you! See y'all saturday ! Be safe!
I have the same stove in my tiny cabin. (cubic mini) after burning for several hours the stove is so hot you can literally load every inch of it to keep a solid burn for 6 hours. Looking good. Be safe, stay healthy.
So super proud of you guys. You will definitely have to guard it from extreme winds and blowing rain. If you've ever watched Elsa and Barrons channel. You will see problems they've had with their little stove re rain, snow and winds.
Love watching nthe process of your farms growth! I ordered my coffee week ago. Was shipped and waiting for it. I am a big Kona coffee person. But excited 5 try new variety of coffee. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Was so interesting to see the coffee growing and being processed through to a cup of java. With your fireplace hooked up there should be some fierce Scrabble competitions in the offing. Stay well and be safe.
Congrats ive been watching yall since the beginning and have been working alot lately haven't been able to watch much but i always check in and the progress thats been made is awesome.
Hey guys, Great video! Enjoy your adventures :). Quick note, it looked like that might be single wall galvanized pipe? If so, it’s super toxic when super heated the first few times. Just a note that might be worth mentioning? If it’s double walled chimney pipe disregard :). Just a quick FYI
SO glad putting stove pipe worked perfectly beside the shelf! See? Not a big boo-boo! Perfect eyeballing judgement 😂! Very interesting info about coffee beans. I love me some coffee. I really would enjoy some unedited filming too. Love you guys.
Kaylee, you got my hopes up so high when I heard you suggest @ 8:55 an event including "Scrapple Nights" .... then disappointed me by repeatedly saying playing SCRABBLE instead ! Dad used to make us scrapple for breakfasts on weekends, often preparing it the night before with pre slicing and coating slabs of it with flour, salt and pepper to allow it to go in the frying pan after the bacon was prepared for breakfast. OH WELL !.... Since your stove is so tiny, you may want to make a special trash can for wood chunks to fit that opening... just cut a hole like the stoves front opening (only slightly smaller) in the lid of the can and maybe magic marker a ruler on top for depth allowed. Then when you have "off cuts" leftover from projects, you can see that they'll fit before going in the bin for recycling as fuel. Think you should widen the platform for stove a good deal for other purposes, like a warming spot for bagels, bread, or coffee, and for making toast immediately beside or on top of stove. For future proofing, do you think making a ship's ladder type stair may be a good idea for Kaylee with the baby coming ? Can't climb and hold a baby (not very safely). See this for reference : ruclips.net/video/_ZQf4eFBuxk/видео.html scroll up to about 2:50 in video for pertinent parts. I don't drink coffee often and I'm considering a bag or 3 as gifts !
Your roof boot has to be tapered from top to bottom without any pooling areas. Water will run down the chimney pipe and bypass the boot unless you pull the boot up. Then caulk (and/or aluminum hvac tape) that line around the pipe where it comes through the boot.
Don't know if you did it off camera, but the rubber shroud on the flue should pulled up so that it is a conical shape. If you leave it like it was on camera it'll collect rainwater and then find a way in. Also, use a hole saw for cutting round holes in metal, so much easier. Keep up the good work!
Here is a suggestion for the wood stove issue: replace the platform with one that is double the width of the current one, so then you can really shoot the stove over to the left side of the platform and use the right side to stack wood. you can even add verticle supports on the right side, almost like book ends, so you can pile wood high.
the "WILD RIDE" just arrived in berlin today ! ! ! more than excited about my morning movement early tomorrow - THANK YOU GUYS - will order GEISHA next 🤗 keep up stay happy & healthy !
Just a suggestion... what I would do... under the sink to the left where you have cabinet doors.. adding some fabric drapes (instead of doors)would add a pop of color and some softness to the space. Maybe not for shed but future plans for your house if it’s your style. Thank you for sharing your process. God bless!
Love seeing where your coffee comes from i would like to try it but every time sold out one day I will try Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us
Wonderful to see how far you've come. Always a way to get it done. Great job. With the sun and weather there, it might help to check the silicone seal on top every 3 months. It will start to break down faster in summer.
Nice stove, glad there is enough wood for a long cold winter season. If there is lots of wind there would be the option of getting electric energy for heating with a small wind turbine.
Hey, K& J. I love your channel and the commercials you chose today. Kaylee jas great charisma selling, and today it's your geisha coffee. I'm ordering some.
I really hope the vent doesn't leak! But it will definitely be a lesson learned and if it does I'll use that technique if I ever have to install something like that.
Pro tip - Flush cut and/or round the bottom of the bolts holding the fireplace in position. Only a matter of time before someone stands up and gets one in the cranium! 😉
I love you guys and I love your videos but I sure miss the longer videos! I'm just setting down with my cup of coffee and then it's over! LOL! God Bless you both and take care!
Several comments in your previous video that you can take that the pipe out the side and then up. That way there's no hole in your roof, and much easier to clean out from the ground. You're right about that little cap not doing much good in a driving rain. They make directional caps that turn with the wind and block the rain from coming in on that side. Can't think of what they're actually called.
Put an eco fan on that wood stove to push the heat around....HUGE difference!
I always feel these videos are not long enough, I just love watching yall
i love how they keep coming so frequently, though
so i don’t mind that they’re shorter
it makes it easier for me to watch them
Reduce the playback speed in your RUclips settings.
I was just thinking that over the last few videos...you are just getting in to it and then they goodbye lolol we do love them
Kaley, you are such a good role model for women. Thanks for the video.
About the chimney cap. There is a cap that is a weather vain cap and it directs the smoke io flow with the wind and the cap allows the wind to travel around it with no resistance. So this also prevents down drafts
“vane”
cool info
It is so sweet that you love your animals so much that you tell even the goats good night and you greet your chickens with good morning.

We have the same stove! It's unreal how well it works...we're toasty warm up here in Canada in the RV!
How long does it burn? It's so tiny I'd assume it would be pretty useless.
@@kimberlyearly8918 *_ I'm sure it's a good 'TOASTER' if anything else! Ha Ha _*
If you have issues with rain entering the chimney cap, buy a wind directional one.
^ *another* new thing for me to learn about, as a direct result of following this channel ! thanks !
Go thru the sidewall???

Think about what you're saying. Its a rubber boot around a woodstove pipe!! It should be an all metal flashing.

i was soo bored without a NEW VIDEO, thanks Guys
Too short! 😁 We like 20-30 minutes. Love you guys. Marilyn (and Garry)
dont forget to buy a brush and extention rods, so you can clean the pipe ever so oftain.

I am so excited for you guys and what you are doing. Also watching Da Jungle treehouse build!
Silicone seal the screws on the roof too!
Keep warm guys. How's the pregnancy going. Hope you feeling well🤰❤️
That was actually a really well done boot install on such a thin corrugated metal. Well done.

@@kabukidreamboy he did explain that due to the pipe only being 3inch it had to go straight - no angles :)
Ah right, I missed that part thanks 😁

Thanks guys, just placed my order of the golden geisha before it’s all gone, good job.

Looking up drilling exactly how you get a metal chip in the eyeball. Safety glasses very cheap . Get a magnet (strong) to pull metal from eyeballs.
