He said nothing of genius proportion. I like what he said don't go out and buy everything learn to use what you have first. Everybody thinks they need omnisphere or Fab filter to have a good song... Which I have.. but you can give me xpand2 which ironically was included in pro tools as a plugin years and years ago. you can find it for twenty bucks or free with a key station.
Yeah between him and whoever writes his lyrics that day. Cookie cutter. He has the talent to do it himself who knows why he doesn’t. Maybe he’s too busy.
@@ScoutSniper1990 too busy??? Just like movies, rappers and musicians lose money at some point. It is very rare to have a career like Drake's. this is why he's following the formula. he finds what's coming up Alicia's off of it makes an album surrounding it and Bam
Well, our course was back in '03/'04, and maybe things have changed/improved since then. Yes, they taught a lot as it was an intensive full-time course condensed into about 9 months. However, I don't fully recommend the school we went to, so be sure to attend a reputable and recognized institution. Noah certainly didn't need to be there, it was a formality for him and which ever reason(s) he wanted to be there... I was very green so I personally learned a lot and still value the education. If it's a career you want, whilst in and out of the course be sure to network hard, and to be passionate about the industry in which ever way you choose it. On a higher level, if it's music you love - theory, acoustics, instrumentation, history and all else - get your Masters in music.
i'm really glad i watched this. he's a very intellectual man, and his comments on dynamic range are so true. hopefully that changes eventually. a sidenote, it's really weird to me that an official avid video would have pops in it like at 4.23
humble, talented, well spoken. i have heard much about this guy, already dug his production. nice to see when a truly deserving person enjoys success. respect.
This man is one of my favorite producers. The complexity and amazing subtlety of his beats and production especially what he did on the throwaway tracks on drakes IYRTITL great amazing stuff man.
That last bit of advice is so crucial. Got people spending ridiculous amount of money on plugins and kits and don't know how to even mix properly!! Smh
That is true about that statement of quality and loudness. The only thing you can do is use the headroom wisely until you reach 0 db. Then use a loudness maximizer at the end stage to boost all the loudness and still have a bit of that quality still.
It is hard a.f. Sometimes. That is still one of the things I struggle with when mixing. It sucks when it sounds good on your monitors then you hear it on laptop or phone speakers and you can't hear no bass. The struggle is real lol.
I really like his approach to music engineering. However I would like a video where he breaks down engineering tips like Eq's, compressors, and reverbs. Doesn't event have to be a Drake session. Just a breakdown as a reference for other engineers searching for that sound.
thank you. i model myself after this man and to have this type of focus on something your passionate about from your idol is great. the S5 looks amazing so one day when i get my full studio together in a nice little warehouse i will definitely be looking to dive into this.
one of the main reasons drake has over 60 million in the bank and counting. one of the main reasons drake has the MOST top 10 hits on the billboard 100 passing the BEATLES on the all-time list. The brains behind Drake's music.
Also Party is too
And The Weeknd back in Take Care era
And basically anyone but drake.

Cool. I went to school with Noah. Knew his shit then, and he certainly knows it now.
What major did he take? I really want to get into mixing and producing.
We were in a one year vocational audio engineering crash course. Ariana Grande's Husband
Daniel McIsaac Did they teach you a lot? I might take a course next year. I'm really into music and the whole music industry.

His words about Loudness are so true - it's sad that people want loudness over quality (not everyone, but almost everyone...)
+Philip Zimmermann studies show that people actually prefer dynamic sounds (when given the right medium ie good headphones)
+Philip Zimmermann Loudest ignorant, alluding to that bullshit trap music maybe lol
this nigga look like the Professor X of producing.
+Still Platinum does he look black to you?

Dynamic ranges are songs like Fear by Drake. But hands down, one of the few men I look up to in the music industry. Down to earth, passionate guy.

Solid piece of advice at the end from 40. Thanks, you seem like a very humble guy.
Such great points about loudness.... hope the kidz are watching this!

Nailed it with the challenge of the modern listener
"Dynamic range is one of the greatest tools in music." Amen
Thank you Avid and thank you Noah for this. A lot of valuable information in this video.

timeless information !
9:18 is a really MUST HEAR/WATCH for EVERYONE ! very good !
I still mix with my Tascam multi track tape
40 is genius! & Drake always said he will be nothing without this man. You all see why.
I want to watch him in action. I don't want to hear him talk for 10 minutes.
