  • Using a pre-registration template to line your films to your screens prior to burning can save you a ton of time when you're ready to register your screens on press. There are several formats for pre-registration templates but this is the one I created for myself and how I use it to line up my screens.
    If you want to give this template a try, you can download it for FREE here:
    🆓 ssp.ink/reg-template
    Template files include AI, PDF, and EPS files for both 20x24 and 23x31 frame sizes.
    Buy the foam core version at shop.startupscreenprinting.com
    Here's Ryonet's printed template, which I think is way overpriced: ssp.ink/ryonet-reg-template

      @@startupscreenprinting Pretty new to all of this and appreciate all the videos. How would you get the registration marks on the transparency to be the same size and in the same spot on a transparency. Im using photoshop and have seen ways to create registration marks however would they not have to be in the same spot as the registration marks on your template? Appreciate your time and knowledge!

    • @startupscreenprinting

      Great question Andrew. I’m releasing my proof template soon and it has registration marks that match the reg template. But you can grab the ones on the reg template and use them on your output file. Kinda hard to explain in too much detail in this comment so maybe I’ll just do a more detailed video on it.

    Awesome video Jesse! I'll definitely be printing this out this week and try to nail down my registration process. Quick question--I have a one station press, but I do have an aluminum platen. Is there a basic/standard distance the platen should from the screen when it's down or a standard distance from the stop for the print arm? I think that has been part of my problem is I don't know exactly where it should be. Perhaps once I download the template I'll answer my own question, but I thought I'd go to the guru :) Thank you for this video!!!

    • @startupscreenprinting
      @startupscreenprinting  Год назад +1

      I think this template will really help, Heather! There's really no "official" distance or location that it should be, just whatever works for you. If you take this template and the video where I talked about lining up my platens on press, then what you'll see is that I have my platens set to where I can register my films based on this template and then I end up with a front print that is about 3" down from the neck seam and also about 3" down from the edge of the platen. What that means is I can be confident that every front print I do, I place the shirt on the platen and hang the neck seam just off the edge of the platen or sometimes about a finger width off the edge and it leaves me with a great front print location. Does that make sense?

    • @heatherjennings145

      @@startupscreenprinting Yes! It totally does! I'm always trying to dial in all of the intricacies that go into screen printing and this has definitely been one that I don't feel confident in. I've been getting by, but I'd like something I can rely on and I think your template will solidify my process! Thank you!!

    Hi quick Q. set film up close to top of screen, looks like 3". That top of the screen will be at bottom of platen where collar is, right? TIA

    • @startupscreenprinting
      @startupscreenprinting  Год назад +1

      you should determine that by where you position your platens on your press. You can adjust the template to match wherever your platens fit. But on mine, yes the top of my artwork typically lands right at the 3" or so mark below the collar seam/end of the platen.

    • @startupscreenprinting
      @startupscreenprinting  11 месяцев назад

      You probably don't want this printed on film as it's full color and I assume your film printer is just black. You'd want to modify the file in AI or something to be what you need it to be. I have mine printed on a foam core board

    • @startupscreenprinting
      @startupscreenprinting  Год назад

      Yeah I removed them because it has more reg lines on the new one, it was only a box anyway. I could probably add it back if that’s helpful. I removed it because left chest placement isn’t the same on all sizes so if you’re doing only larger sizes you might not use the box
