Got mine installed last night and it’s awesome. If anyone owns a old town and runs a fish finder this will be the best upgrade you purchase. You are making Great stuff brother
Taking mine in tomorrow to get some previous thru-hull drillings patched up/filled in and get this installed. Had to wait so I wasn’t fishing a tourney with an unfamiliar ff unit. Excited to get it set up so I can have good mapping without fumbling with my phone. Tks for all ur help and for making some really helpful tools for the yak!
I see people talking on the net about how the Garmin Quick release can become loose to where the gps unit falls out of the bracket! Have you had any trouble? That model you use has a lot of practical features!
I’ve had mine mounted like that every since you came out with that handle and love it. All you ppl people if you haven’t done this yet you’re missing out.
Picked up the handle mount and also the scupper transducer mount - both are sturdy. (this is my first experience with any 3D printed product and I wasn't sure what the quality would be like) I definitely would recommend either product. Nick's a good dude also - provides great customer service which is always a plus.
Handle order will be forthcoming. Trying to determine which manufacturer and unit to add. Most concerned with maps, water temp, depth in new areas, and ease of use. Based on your experience is there one that might be easier for me to use and see in the sun(61yo, with bifocals in sunglasses)? Plan to mount transducer on universal mount or one of your scupper mounts. Thanks!
Hey Nick! Great video. I'm going to buy the handle mount and transducer bracket from you guys. Where do I get the Hobie through hole rubber seals for sliding my cables through hull of the kayak? Thanks
Thanks Nick! What model Ram bracket would you pair with the handle you patented to go on the Old Town Sportsman? I was thinking of buying your handle to put Lowrance Elite T12 on top of. Thanks
I normally use the 1” version but the 1.5” version provides a little more security and gives you the flexibility needed if you decide to purchase a larger fish finder (screen) down the road.
Most fish finders come with an in-line fuse. I have installed multiple fish finders without over the years and never had an issue but the fuse is designed to prevent and shortages from reaching the electronics.
I noticed you have back/front handles as well. I was thinking the back handle is perfect to mount a visipole on the sportsman 120 pdl. Do you think it could handle the weight of that with it being so tall?
Navarre Kayak Fishing | Florida Kayak Fishing well I ordered the rear/front handle and it turns out the sportsman does not have a rear handle even though I saw several photos where it did have it! There goes that plan. 🤦🏼♂️
Tom, we will have some hats up on the website in the near future. Sourcing them has been an issue since the virus shut down certain businesses. Thanks for watching!
Hey Nick I didn't know if you knew Jackson kayaks has that new $10,000 kayak and they took a clip of one of your videos going over the old Town Minn Kota and stuck it in their video I think the name of the video is the world's most advaned fishing kayak apex tyr kayak. I think that's the title to the video.
Just ordered mine
Thanks for ordering.

The new handles are so much better.
Thanks!
Genius idea
Just got mine... luv it... thanks nick
Thanks for ordering, Warren.
Hi Nick, do you think the handle mount is robust enough to support the 73sv's bigger brother, the 93sv?
100%. We ran the 94SV for an entire charter season (offshore through the surf) with zero issues. I would use the 1.5” ram ball instead of the 1”.

I’m not sure what a Garmin Quick Release is but this system works great.

What ram mount items are those?

Thanks for the kind words!
Do you think that would support a 15" unit like a Solix 15 or a Helix 15? Love that idea. Thank you.
Warren, I wouldn’t put a 15” monitor on it. Seems a bit to risky.

I prefer to use Garmin. Typically a Garmin EchoMap 73SV. It checks all of the boxes.
The scupper mount is the preferred method.

Art, thanks for watching. Here’s a link to the thru hulls - www.mariner-sails.com/hobie-3-way-thru-hull-kit-hobie.html

Hey Nick, what Garmin unit are you using
That’s a 73SV Echomap.
That ending shot was the best! hahaha. Good video Nick!
The battery was running out of juice!
Do you need to add any fuse to the wiring with that battery?
Most fish finders come with an in-line fuse. I have installed multiple fish finders without over the years and never had an issue but the fuse is designed to prevent and shortages from reaching the electronics.
Hey Nick, does your fishfinder get in the way when paddling?
I like to install the fish finder on the Ram mount so I can swivel it out of my way quick and easy if I need to paddle.
I noticed you have back/front handles as well. I was thinking the back handle is perfect to mount a visipole on the sportsman 120 pdl. Do you think it could handle the weight of that with it being so tall?
Tommy, the majority of the front/rear handles we ship out are used for the visicarbon flag/light pole. It’s plenty strong.
