I really appreciate them saying a SU will be devoted to bug fixes, but this is needed now! I can't turn this sim on without it freezing on a load screen, or crashing to desktop. I never get to feel comfortable. It's just too many bugs. That should be the primary focus, then additions to the sim.
I’m sure you don’t want to hear this but you should look into your hardware as the problem. What you described sounds severe and isolated. They will not fix these type of issues unless they are widely reported. I have never seen a single crash and I have many add on sceneries and aircraft. If that was my computer I would be checking my power supply and memory sticks asap. Sorry to hear about your issues.
@@vdubbin Thanks. I have a new (weeks old now) Alienware R10: 5900x, RTX 3080 10gb, 32gb RAM, 1TB SSD. I doubt it's the hardware. I also have a Predator: i7, RTX 2060s 8gb, 16gb RAM, 500gb SSD. Same issues with MFS since SU5. Isolated? So many people are reporting the same issues since SU5.
It’s a work in progress, I get it, and it’s amazing. I know it will be next level for us drivers with all the study level we can handle. Keep up the great work.
It is easy for us old hands to forget sometimes. I started simming when I was 12 years old with Psion’s Flight Simulation for the ZX Spectrum…I’m 50 now! Firstly, how did that happen??, and secondly…. Get off my lawn! 🤣

Some like to play with a 747 and other whant to fly very realistic a small plane. Some only like the realistic view from the inside of the plane and other love the 3. person view and more. In your last video, where you show us the start procedure of the Ju 52: i love to see that. Normaly i only like to fly small planes very realistic but i love this technical details (the DC-6 is very interesting too :)
Sims being accessible to children is important. I got Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 at the age of 10 years old which sparked my interest in aviation. Now at 27 years old, I just took my first flight lesson in real life.
I would love to see the development of turbulence over all. It seems to have disappeared from the sim. The ONLY turbulence experienced currently seems to come only from terrain at low altitudes. Other than that it seems smooth flying most of the time despite the weather conditions which is disappointing.
I agree with you, but if you're above the bottom of the lowest cloud deck, often the air is smooth unless you're in a cloud. Below that you have to work to keep the airplane steady. But, I agree. You never have to use the yoke...the airplane corrects itself and that makes significantly less real. I hope they fix that.
i have a new idea for the future ( as i am always... ) 1 take real photo of a GPS place from drone 2 the exact same GPS view from Flight Sim 2020 3 input the 2 pictures into several I.A. calculators... ==> bring the picture 2 = picture 1 this, done automatically from drone session made by some users, with GPS + point of vue, and then, matching auto calculation made by software... + Asobo + Shark photogrametrie
I see the external view still sucks. Totally different from every MSFS from 5.0. The external view sits low, and when zoomed out creates distortion. Switching to Drone View is NOT an option I want. There needs to be the "legacy" external view option to get rid of the current one. Absolutely a deal breaker at times, they ruined it.
It was a mostly positive livestream, I’ll give them that. However, they completely glossed over the biggest issue in the sim (for me at least), and that’s the server problem where other people keep disappearing. This annoyance has been present in the sim since the infamous SU5 and they’ve gone until now without acknowledging it. When they were asked about it, they started referring to the “ghosting” effect which occurs when 2 aircraft are in close proximity to each other. However this is not the issue. It’s a separate bug where people randomly disappear, and then reappear a few minutes later, and proximity is irrelevant. Jayne even tried to correct them on this, explaining that there were 2 different issues, but instead Martial changed the subject and started talking about tyre adhesion on the runway! To be fair, this issue won’t be problem for a lot of people. It is only an issue for people like me who participate in group flights, or do aerobatic formation flying with a team, so it’s probably not getting as much traction as it should.

I find it strange that they’ve had some huge streamers like TwoToneMurphy and Flying Fabio on their channel, hosting massive group flights and they haven’t seen this issue. It really needs to be spelt out for them, because it’s quite a hard one to explain, as it appears to happen randomly, so it’s hard to reproduce.
The weather system was (is) truly disappointing. In the very early days of release we got all those partner videos, I remember watching the Meteoblue presentation which all looked amazing and advanced. Well reality is far from what was promised. I think the same is true of the ATC and AI Traffic components which have fallen far sure of what was promised, almost sub P3D/FSX levels. I for one always encourage fixing bugs & fundamentals over adding features or eye candy.
What about the black screens on mid flights? My NAV and map turns off at any moment during flight and even in the gate. I’m on Xbox and it’s annoyingly bad that I have to fly with zero maps

I spent 35 years in product development (Hardware, different industry) with countless customer interactions. I cannot recall a single instance where a customer didn't prioritize bug fixes. Sure, sometimes there is a missing business critical feature but great features in a product that doesn't work reliably never interested anyone (including me). I just don't understand how an update focusing on bug fixes is some kind of revelation. I do understand that developers want to do new, cool things, that is the value of a program manager.
they are bad devs. Bad company eith horrible processes. This nice google map game (has nothing to do with with a flight sim) has less features working after over a year... I don't think that they have even junior devs. Breaking stuff back and forth means no unit/integration tests what so ever. NONE. Definetely they only think they using Agile ;) I would fire most of my devs for just 1/10 of what I see coming out from asobo in terms of dev practises. I think owners wants to milk microsoft and keep milking by hiring the worst of the worst devs. Probably they've signed a good deal for asobo, horrible for clients and bad for microsoft.

While googling, I've read some posts from June of this year that claim that the default MSFS AIRAC has missing Navaids and even airports like EDDS (I believe that is Stuttgart, right?)

a small idea for some more quick menu loading : make the 2 LOGO animation included into the start of loading the menu + caption for the legal mention appear ONCE after each update, and in credits, but not at each time. Or make a checkbok option "do not display each time". .. . . well : i belive all know that the game shouldn't be used on a screen replacing a windows in a real liner embedding real passengers . . . or for control liners by some radio... or be cracked or reverse russian / chinese / northcorea decompiled, to be played on any mac or public sessions, or so on... LOL...

Quality and very useful review as usual. Thank you for that. Many users have told different things about correctly updating sim from update to update. One says you need to remove all previous cash and addons and after update install them again. Its all good but it so much files to download every time. So could you share how you manage updates. Do you remove game and reinstall it with every update so it has no crashes and etc... Keep up great work. Your hobby is on very high level!!!
I do two things before update…ensure all my apps including are updated on windows store…including xbox app for pc. Secondly rename my community folder to community.old. Then install…no problems. After successful install and test….then rename community folder back to community.
That G1000 from the Marketplace makes my payware aircraft useless, I hope that gets fixed before it is not an option.The default ATC is still buggy & I lose the Azure thing all the time then the ATC voice sounds like a 10 year old boy, what is it with that? Also the voice warning in the float planes never stops ( gear up for water landing) will those problems be fixed?
Was thinking the same thing too.You have to give any sim chance to iron out bugs and issues in order to make it enjoyable and realistic across the board.
The kids definitely like their eye candy. It’s the only trait they use to justify trashing XPlane. As a middle aged adult I like my candy too, but I need a sim that works and works properly. The flight physics are very important to me. The kids, I’m not 100% sure that’s an important aspect to them as long as it’s on XBox.
What’s confusing is everybody is saying “the kids” most people I’ve come across playing msfs on Xbox are actually adults. Not every adult is as blessed as us to be able to afford even a basic gaming pc as for the average person it’s still pretty expensive.
I bought for Xbox series x and s, and I really got into it.. Unfortunately, the bugs and lack of fixing anything caused me to recently put everything away for awhile until things are fixed more..I got really tired of setting the sensitivity settings for the t flight hotas one Everytime I wanted to play..Why are they not fixing that issue?? The key mappings are all labeled wrong still, as well..Do they have Many intentions at all of fixing this problem?? They had to know that alot of Xbox players were going to use the hotas at launch, so I can't understand why it's not even on their radar for fixing..I love the game, but geez! Fix the issues! I also feel like Xbox players are getting pushed to the back of the line as well, as PC players get everything priority.
10:00 I think XBox is the gateway to simming for many. Most will be pick up a joystick and fly under London bridge types, but some of them will delve into the simming community. Microsoft invests huge sums of money to create this product, you can't blame them for creating a product that appeals to a wide customer base. Actually on top of the XBox market, the fact that MSFS is part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership means that many who may never have purchased a flight sim have access to try it.
Gamer or Sim ? the only point which makes the difference, is that a real SIM does not REQUIRES to be mandatory online connected to PLAY... and does NOT requires mandatory UPDATES with random new bugs to PLAY. A Real simulator as Xplane or Prepare 3D does NOT require to be multiplayer or to have wonderful ONLINE BING landscapes ( wich can be deactivated too in FS2020... so this would not be an argument ) PLEASE make Flight Simulator 2020 online AN OPTION ---> .... and it WILL BE THE BEST SIMULATOR of the world.
Still waiting for a reasonable solid multiplayer. I wouldn't call the current state of MP in need for bugfixes. Not yet. In my opinion it's not even complete.

Adding to Mark's answer, I run MSFS on a gaming laptop with a 4 GB GTX 1050ti - I use mainly medium settings with some (e.g. clouds) set to high and I get around 35 fps with a very smooth display using Just Flight's Pa28 aircraft and addon airports. I run it at 1080 resolution with render scaling set to 80%.
Then, few other things to become a SIMULATOR : - multi screen capabilities - debug mouse freezing commands when mouse cursor on external windows - open "GUEST accounts" for schools or for casual showrooms DEMO - make a "parameters takeout" as "Google takeout" --> from cloud to a real ZIP file containing : parameters, custom input command settings, logbook ( +progress, success, )
few :) ? atc, ifr, physics, reliable weather system (now it still now working as it should), some other traffic, woring every landing strip with atc support for aproach. And working panels in planes, most planes are still broken beyond simply flying.
I'm sick of this avionics blackout bug on the Xbox version, hopefully getting fixed soon. It mainly happens in airliners which is what I'm flying in mostly
who cares about xbox, you can't connect most of equipment for flight sim including garming gps to an xbox. This is either a stupid game or a sim that can be counted as superior xplane towards your flying hours for your ppl license.
Really disappointed with MSF 2020. Seems like Screen and Vr gameplay are 2 different sims. Quest2 8600k 2080 ti 16g 3000 , stutters all over the place. Costs me to admit that i got this to replace DCS where in reality DCS runs better. Followed every tutorial tried many settings and i still can't get it to runs it should with my specs I would recommend anyone looking to get it for Vr to wait another 6 months.
Except you haven’t, it pops up before you have finished shutting down the plane properly, if you just left it like when it pops up you haven’t finished, this is why people don’t like it as it interrupts the realistic procedures which include more than just cutting off the mixture or switching off the magneto’s
@@nathantw then either you haven’t done it in the correct order, or the aircraft is very simple maybe, but most of the flights I do, following the correct procedures in the checklist it pops up before everything is done, and that’s annoying and immersion breaking.
@@WhiteHawk77 I don't follow a checklist, so I didn't shut it down in the correct order. I'm just doing this for fun and I when I want the log book to pop up it's so I know I got credit for the takeoff and landing.
Bought this, paid for it but will never use it unless they introduce 2D cockpits. My fault for not checking this. But 2D cockpits were always a feature of MS Flight Simulator. Back to FSX 2006. Thanks for nothing Microsoft.

My sim keeps crashing to desktop.. I even re installed msfs, restarted my computer, etc.. Really annoying. They need to fix CTD's

I can push it to 200% but have to turn other settings down too much. Hopefully the new setting will use GPU memory and not further tac the cpu.

Yes it was missing a few, now corrected. The MSFS AIRAC is only updated about every two months. So not the latest, but not far behind.

Do you remove game and reinstall it with every update so it has no crashes and etc... Keep up great work. Your hobby is on very high level!!!
I do two things before update…ensure all my apps including are updated on windows store…including xbox app for pc. Secondly rename my community folder to community.old. Then install…no problems. After successful install and test….then rename community folder back to community.
That G1000 from the Marketplace makes my payware aircraft useless, I hope that gets fixed before it is not an option.The default ATC is still buggy & I lose the Azure thing all the time then the ATC voice sounds like a 10 year old boy, what is it with that? Also the voice warning in the float planes never stops ( gear up for water landing) will those problems be fixed?
This sim needs atleast another year. Any flight sim (new) needs minimum 1 to 2 years for bug fixes and what not.
Was thinking the same thing too.You have to give any sim chance to iron out bugs and issues in order to make it enjoyable and realistic across the board.

Glad they're doing a sim update just for bugs. The game looks great but at times it can feel very broken lol
The kids definitely like their eye candy. It’s the only trait they use to justify trashing XPlane. As a middle aged adult I like my candy too, but I need a sim that works and works properly. The flight physics are very important to me. The kids, I’m not 100% sure that’s an important aspect to them as long as it’s on XBox.
Why not have both? Good graphics doesn't mean poor aerodynamics.
What’s confusing is everybody is saying “the kids” most people I’ve come across playing msfs on Xbox are actually adults. Not every adult is as blessed as us to be able to afford even a basic gaming pc as for the average person it’s still pretty expensive.
I bought for Xbox series x and s, and I really got into it.. Unfortunately, the bugs and lack of fixing anything caused me to recently put everything away for awhile until things are fixed more..I got really tired of setting the sensitivity settings for the t flight hotas one Everytime I wanted to play..Why are they not fixing that issue?? The key mappings are all labeled wrong still, as well..Do they have Many intentions at all of fixing this problem?? They had to know that alot of Xbox players were going to use the hotas at launch, so I can't understand why it's not even on their radar for fixing..I love the game, but geez! Fix the issues! I also feel like Xbox players are getting pushed to the back of the line as well, as PC players get everything priority.
Why the boring ju52? 109 f+ or fw190 a/d would probably sold much more 🤷♂️

10:00 I think XBox is the gateway to simming for many. Most will be pick up a joystick and fly under London bridge types, but some of them will delve into the simming community. Microsoft invests huge sums of money to create this product, you can't blame them for creating a product that appeals to a wide customer base.
Actually on top of the XBox market, the fact that MSFS is part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership means that many who may never have purchased a flight sim have access to try it.
And for when an update for the thrustmaster Hotas one?

the only point which makes the difference, is that a real SIM does not REQUIRES to be mandatory online connected to PLAY... and does NOT requires mandatory UPDATES with random new bugs to PLAY.
A Real simulator as Xplane or Prepare 3D does NOT require to be multiplayer or to have wonderful ONLINE BING landscapes ( wich can be deactivated too in FS2020... so this would not be an argument )
PLEASE make Flight Simulator 2020 online AN OPTION ---> .... and it WILL BE THE BEST SIMULATOR of the world.

Update on microsoft store or steam,then in game go to content manager which is in the games store and do all the extra free updates

Adding to Mark's answer, I run MSFS on a gaming laptop with a 4 GB GTX 1050ti - I use mainly medium settings with some (e.g. clouds) set to high and I get around 35 fps with a very smooth display using Just Flight's Pa28 aircraft and addon airports. I run it at 1080 resolution with render scaling set to 80%.

- multi screen capabilities
- debug mouse freezing commands when mouse cursor on external windows
- open "GUEST accounts" for schools or for casual showrooms DEMO
- make a "parameters takeout" as "Google takeout" --> from cloud to a real ZIP file containing :
parameters, custom input command settings, logbook ( +progress, success, )
few :) ? atc, ifr, physics, reliable weather system (now it still now working as it should), some other traffic, woring every landing strip with atc support for aproach. And working panels in planes, most planes are still broken beyond simply flying.
I'm sick of this avionics blackout bug on the Xbox version, hopefully getting fixed soon. It mainly happens in airliners which is what I'm flying in mostly
who cares about xbox, you can't connect most of equipment for flight sim including garming gps to an xbox. This is either a stupid game or a sim that can be counted as superior xplane towards your flying hours for your ppl license.

Really disappointed with MSF 2020.
Seems like Screen and Vr gameplay are 2 different sims.
Quest2 8600k 2080 ti 16g 3000 , stutters all over the place.
Costs me to admit that i got this to replace DCS where in reality DCS runs better.

I like the logbook popping up after shutdown. That’s how I know I shutdown everything.
Except you haven’t, it pops up before you have finished shutting down the plane properly, if you just left it like when it pops up you haven’t finished, this is why people don’t like it as it interrupts the realistic procedures which include more than just cutting off the mixture or switching off the magneto’s

@@nathantw then either you haven’t done it in the correct order, or the aircraft is very simple maybe, but most of the flights I do, following the correct procedures in the checklist it pops up before everything is done, and that’s annoying and immersion breaking.
@@WhiteHawk77 I don't follow a checklist, so I didn't shut it down in the correct order. I'm just doing this for fun and I when I want the log book to pop up it's so I know I got credit for the takeoff and landing.
still no real multiplayer support in game. can see people, can't talk to them or do anything. MSFS is a waste of money, but could have been great.
Bought this, paid for it but will never use it unless they introduce 2D cockpits. My fault for not checking this. But 2D cockpits were always a feature of MS Flight Simulator. Back to FSX 2006. Thanks for nothing Microsoft.
