The rear window trims are meant to be black on all the Turbo models! I think the chrome is for some of the non-turbo models.
The wind deflectors that have been removed, it's common for them to break, which is probably the reason for their removal! It doesn't help that the doors are frameless, hence the deflectors are fitted to the body and not the door frame, as is more common, but sitting proud can result in their getting broken when the doors are open, or the door glass is down! They also tend to be discoloured, too, due to sun damage!
What is surprising for an import model, is the lack of a toll road card reader! They seem to be fitted to all cars in Japan, it's unusual that they have been removed before the car is exported from Japan!
It's also fairly common that they have a Turbo Timer fitted, these things are particularly good at calculating how hard the car has been driven and then keep the engine running after you've switched the car off with the ignition key, in order to keep the engine oil pumping through the turbo bearings until the temperature has reduced before turning the engine off. They work on the premise that the harder you drive, the longer the engine will carry on running until the bearing temperature has reduced to safe levels, helping to prolong the turbo life!
Sorry, I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to these cars! I bought my UK Impreza Turbo Wagon when they were first launched here in the UK, in fact my one was part of the very first shipment of Turbo models to arrive in the UK, and I had it for close to 9 years until a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and slammed into me whilst I was stationary! My Impreza replaced a Generation 1 Legacy Turbo, and I'd had 3 other Subarus starting with a Brat that we used on the farm that we bought new in July 1981!

Thanks for all the information! Very helpful! This one does indeed still have the toll card reader :) also, I love seeing the turbo timer fitted to turbo vehicles I’ve imported. It makes me think the previous owner cared enough to install that and properly maintain their engine!

Those window trim pieces are chrome underneath matte black paint that disintegrates after years of sun exposure.
