Love this keep it up. This will really help me out since I’m looking to get back to drift rc since the hpi sprint 2 came out. I’m ready to move to a better chassis.
On the last video Jordan nice introduction on this one a setup for all those who want a D5 you killed it let's go guys pick up the setup if you got one and join the crew Thursday nights 12:00 Eastern Time scale science. 🤙🏻🔥😎🔥👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for sharing! Agree - I am still very happy with my D5. The one thing I have done is go to the front shock tower setup instead of the inboard setup. I think it was a good swap, and cheap.
So what would your thoughts be on this as a first chassis? I've been looking into getting into the rwd chassis and for the price of this you really can't beat it
Dude I just ordered a D5 MR. What do you recommend for a servo for this chassis. I keep hearing that there has been some clearance issues going on since launch. Also could you recommend an ESC and motor combo plz. Thanks bro
Yokomo sp02 or 03 should fit fine. Might want to join a d5 Facebook group if you’re on there. Motor and esc, go acuvance if you can swing it. Best dang combos out there
Ok finally finished my d5sport i bought 3 years ago 😅 steering binds at full lock and gets stuck. Have to manually grab wheels and get them unstuck. Everything else seems butter. Looks like lots of flex on the steering posts just not sure where the heck its binding. Its super far from the stops on the knuckles, have my radio EPA at like 60% so, not sure wtf... using AGFRC servo.
@ScaleScience I might have found the issue. I'm using an old hpi altezza body that's 256 wb, so I tried shortening the sakura (like a dummy) from the front by removing spacers on the arm pins. Then I saw how to do it the RIGHT way by flipping the rear arms. All that is fixed now so hopefully restoring the front geometry will stop the steering bind. Will try tonight. Thanks for responding!
So what is the total size of spacers on the top and bottom arms because you’re not very clear on that. Did you add 6mm and 3mm to the original spacers or is that total length? I’m confused.
If you had the time to source backup components from Asia when the inevitable parts failure would happen I’m sure it would do okay. Trans would be the main point of contention as they are really making mostly locked diferential or gear difs. Not sure of your tuning preferences for touring.
@@ByCrail the mr is different. The arms and stuff would be the same but gone is the IFS suspension setup so that would change as well as orientation of chassis etc. rest should be similar.
Dude I’m having trouble getting my wide body rx7 fitted low enough on my d5. I can’t get the body mounts low enough it seems..Any suggestions ..? never had this issue before lol.
Try to make sure it’s the body magnets causing the misfitment and that it’s not hitting on the dampers or something. Rx7 has a notoriously low nose that tends to rub on shock towers or things in that area.
@@ScaleScience yeah I thought the same it’s very tight in the front. Even the rear end though, I have dropped the mounts down on the d5 as low as they go and took spacers from under magnets away. Body still sits way to high to look good 😥
@@ScaleScience yeah I put the Demi works body kit on, looks sweet but I NEED to make it fit flush flush haha. It’s on a display chassis for now. I WILL make it work haha I have to! imgur.com/gallery/hbRvyVH
I did not want to be budget friendly. Never have never will be. Sky is the limit for me when it comes to RC drift cars especially after my personnel experience when I was stationed in the military in Japan. The Japanese are extremist and really take RC drifting to another level. I bought the Sakura D5 Red Auper5 Pro and put in the flagship of electronics from Hobby wing Drift XR10 esc and D10 drift motor 10.5T- Futuba 10PX radio Radio with R404SBE, GYD550 gyro, and CT700 servo, and 40mm 3Racing cooling fan and other aesthetic items to make this machine be recognized. Did a factory wiring setup that looks extreme clean, the wiring looks like they don’t exist the only one you can really see is the esc to the motor, everything else is pretty well hidden. Next project is a Cinnamon D5 pro using Acuvance flagship of electronics and doing a reaR motor top mount. With all your information, ingenuity, know how, tweaks and tuning my Sakura drives like a BEAST. Besides the tuning, the driving is another key to being great at the hobby. I Really appreciate all the information. I always said knowledge is power. Because of your RUclips channel and another RUclipsr I follow Roadside RC & Super JPUG channel my RC drifting experience has been wonderful and therapeutic. Keep posting new videos they are truly helpful and again you guys are awesome. Next year I will shoot for Yokomo and MST flagship kits.

@House530 just getting warmed up 🔥💪🏽
Awesome vid. Ordered my D5 this morning, can’t wait!
Hope you enjoy it! stay tuned for more d5 content!
Good thing my d5 is still in the box, now i can get all the little upgrades before i build mine lol
Well how did it go? I just finished my build I started 3 years ago lol

Right on, I didn’t really understand the shock tower swap myself but I’m glad to hear it’s working out!
What are the benefits of swapping to a shock tower setup?
@@NatedoGP I believe it helps with shock tuning, gives more body clearance on the front, and let's you get rid of some needless weight on the front.
Can you please explain a bit more, what did you add on rear set up ? Thanks 🙏
what is the set up for max angle
Grate video lots of information cheers I’ll be doing some of them mods myself 👌🏻👌🏻
sweet, thanks for the video man!
Absolutely Kosmonaut! Already excited for the next one!
What is the track width with 6mm offset wheels.
So what would your thoughts be on this as a first chassis? I've been looking into getting into the rwd chassis and for the price of this you really can't beat it
The new d6 is out now and I would suggest that over the d5 moving forward for parts replacements and upgrades available. Welcome and hope you jump in!
Fuck yeah! Sick video, I just did all these changes to my D5...but that stuff you did with the rear end might be my next move.
Thank you as always Cole!
3:35 where did you get the super long standoffs?
Probably from the drone shop we used to share our space with or amazon. Search 15mm m3 stand-off and should find a variety of options.

Likely an alignment issue causing a bind. Make sure everything is equal length side to side and that you used the correct size and shape ball ends

6 instead of 3 (doubled size)
This it have rear toe adjustment? I would like zero toe for the shell to fit properly
Venom you can swap mounts to get less or more rear toe.
where did you get Spacers to decrease ackeman angle?
Amazon
@@ScaleScience Could you give a link, pls? or name?
If you added sticky tires and cut back on the steering radius, could this car serve as a reasonable touring car?

Any good front lower arms besides the yeah racing arm?
Reve-D or stocks. I like the stock arms personally they work well

Do you guys build the chassis with the shims?
Do you mean if you were to buy one? We can build them however people want!
