Totally agree with you about getting your gun rights back I got hit with a stupid charge when I was 21 and just because I couldn’t afford a real lawyer just got a public defender and the felony stuck never got in any real trouble again but still can’t buy a gun over 20 years later total bull shit
You gotta send a letter everyday to governor for pardon and hopefully you get it and gun rights restored. I almost had mine and then covid happened a week later and Newsom forgot all about me 🤦♂️
Every state in the country has a way to petition for your gun rights to be restored. It generally involves getting in touch woth the county prosecutor and the courthouse. My old man did it. Cost him a lot of money and time though.

But you can be charged once at the federal level and again at the state level, if the alleged crime involves violation of SLIGHTLY different federal and state laws.

No where in any legislation was a deterrent part of losing gun rights as a felon. That simply does not exist. The reasoning behind losing gun rights is based on recidivism rates. The idea was, "well, if he stole a car, as soon as he gets out he steal a car with a gun next time". Itwas poor logic and violates an individual's sacred right to self defense. Even felons have a God given right to defend themselves. The government ignores that. In this country, we over punish people who we dont like, not necessarily those who do harm.
