I got a simple formula to know if it's worth it to work at anything in particular. Hourly wage. That's it. I expect to earn as much as a unionized construction worker which is $35/hr. If I get into the snow plowing business and work for 10 hrs I expect to make $350 clean, after paying off fuel, wear & tear, etc, etc. If I'm going to fix someone's car and I think it's going to take me 2 hrs then I will charge that person $80 bucks labor. Not including parts. The same goes for truck driving if it's my own rig/truck. I expect to make no less than $35/hr clean, after having paid off fuel, wear and tear, tolls, food, insurance, etc, etc. If I am not making at least $35/hr no job is worth it for me. If I work 50 hrs a week driving I expect to make $1,750 weekly or $3,500 bi-weekly. But anyone driving a company truck shouldn't expect to make more than $26 an hour.
I was grossing $1.25 a mile with my own truck in 1993 ! what lease operator would drive for $1.45 in 2020 ? and as has been pointed out, if this russian guy could make more money by owning all the trucks and paying them as employees, he would be doing that.

My brother is an O/O, and bro you are correct, not only that but most companies cut miles and pay and when you try to leave they hold money under false pretext. And they give low paying loads or dont give you enough miles. All these companies will never let you make money, if you have a good cheque, you next cheque will oddly be super low. I have always made more money as a driver than 99% of O/O, and if they make slightly more, its not really worth it as in a single breakdown you lose thousands in hotel tow food transport etc. As a driver there is no headaches, my brother only started making good money now as he got his own authorities as most companies shaft you hard. Plus ET looks for schmuks that will lease their pos used trucks, and u cant leave until truck paid off, whereas by then truck is garbage. Better to drive company and leave headaches for company, you want to make money for work, as an owner operator there is a very good Guarantee you will pay them to work for them lol.

So you are saying that the money you will earn as an owner operator, are going for repairs?? My question is: Are you going to use your own truck or be in lease program? If you are going to use your own truck and you know the condition of your truck yes I agree with you, but if you are in lease program you are purchasing a brand new truck and you no need to spend money for repairs at least for two years. Just I have to mention for all the brand new truck you have warranty depend how much money you want to invest to extent the warranty. Yes maintenance and oil change according to the miles you are going to put on this truck you will be responsible , which is approximately every 40,000. -50,000 km and will cost not more than $450 in the dealer. I don’t know for what kind of truck you are talking about to spend $1000 repairs every two weeks!!!! We are in this program for more than two years now, and is the best decision we make so far, very happy, no more truck bill repairs, headaches gone!! If you are dedicated and you willing to be on the road with brand new truck, I am telling you the miles example in this video is the minimum, this company will keep you busy if you willing to work!! 100% suggesting leasing program with ET company, if you want to be Owner Operator!!
This video is not talking about other companies, that’s why ET Transports make a difference, this company does direct deposit bi-weekly, and never delays on the payment!!
I love reading comments from people saying how a lease purchase option is bad. Yea, it’s bad if you’re making $1.50 a mile on all loads. That’s hilariously bad. I’ve been doing a lease op for a little bit, until I can but my own truck next year. My take home after all expenses except taxes, is $3500+ a week. Other drivers with my company who are lease operators are taking home 140k a year after taxes. But yea, the lease purchase program sucks. You can’t make any money. Right.
Sounds like a good deal, I’m in 2nd week of school and 2 more to go until I get my CDL and want to do lease operator when I finish. Is that possible ? Any companies?
@@chrish.3898 I’d recommend being a company driver for a year. And if you decide to be a lease operator, look for companies that pay you a percentage of the load. Don’t do a lease program if they just pay you a flat rate, say $1.30 a mile etc. it doesn’t make any sense. It costs me about $1.10 a mile to drive the truck. But I book freight that’s paying $2.50-$4.00 a mile. So that’s why I’m able to take home $3000+ a week. If you’re just getting paid a flat rate on all loads as a lease operator, you’re really getting fucked on income.

Who paid the insurance on the truck and trailer ? I did not notice that deduction on the payments. It will be nice to see a video on what does ET transport covers as a owner operator, lease operator. We that in knowledge than we can actually do the math and know if that will work or not. It is true that some companies paid by the load over 3$ per mile but when you take in consideration that you are getting charge a percentage for it than it may not be a big difference if you get paid by miles. A lot of companies that work like it won't paid empty miles.

Why would you rent a job? That's exactly what you are doing when leasing a truck. Take the time to investigate yourself.look at how many companies are doing a rent a wreck program and look at the percentage of people that actually complete the contract. The idea for companies to flease is to cut their cost and their exposure.its not to help you become a o/o they are just trying to get you to pay their bills on their equipment. Call these companies ask them a simple question ask them can I take your contact to a lawyer for review before I sign. Second ask them their percentage of contract completions. Third ask them if you are allowed to move the equipment if you are not making what they claim you would. You will find out real quick you are just a company driver with a truck payment on something you will never own..most of the flease companies the only difference between company an lease as far as money is ones a W2 with benefits and the other is a1099 without benefits. I seen way to many lease ops bragging about grossing 10 plus k a week and bringing 2k a week home after cost. Not trying to break your bubble but that's 12 percent more than most company drivers and once you take out taxes and purchase your benefits your actually making less.

Not bad if your home state has no income tax otherwise the burden is shifted on the driver
That lease option is horrbile 🤦🏻♂️
I want to hear what it breaks down to in hourly pay. How many hours behind the wheel did you have to spend. I don't give a shit about miles.
Them top dudes were working 65+ hrs
like a 3 bucks an hour ek that
I got a simple formula to know if it's worth it to work at anything in particular.
A guy offered me a flatbed job for 28 not sure about taking never drove flatbed, I'm in the Seattle area.
I was grossing $1.25 a mile with my own truck in 1993 ! what lease operator would drive for $1.45 in 2020 ?
and as has been pointed out, if this russian guy could make more money by owning all the trucks and paying them as employees, he would be doing that.
Hello, I am from Iraq. I work as a bus and truck driver. I have 15 years of experience in this field. A certificate issued to me in 2000. I want to work.
Thats not no damn money ... I make that local working 5 days a week
New truck driver here. How much are you making and how much experience did/ do you have to make that? I’m looking at going local with a year of experience but I don’t see any jobs paying even as much as I was making OTR with no experience.
Pls bring up more videos frequently, hope to be an associate driver with Ettransport sometime soon. Great!
That's the plan! Thanks for the feedback! Please share the video with other drivers.
Company driver 2600
Lease operator 4100
1500 more for two weeks. So LO will have to save for 1000 for sudden repairs of truck. Making 500 more than company driver in two weeks, no thank you. Debate anyone?
By the looks of this video, in the current economy they looking to dump their trucks expenses on newbies coming into this industry
Jamal Muhammad u r right. I am going thru same Situation right now. Company is holding my four weeks pay for no reason. They are under MTO audit and not operating at the moment but I have confirmed from sources there is no way they should be holding pay. Being OO is like getting screwed big time and bringing your own bed and lube as well 😂
So you are saying that the money you will earn as an owner operator, are going for repairs??
As local I make more then these company drivers make over the road
Same here but I’m considering buying my own truck cash and leasing on with a company
@@davidthompson184 Man thank you I appreciate the help and advice, I screenshot your reply so I can remember to look for when that time comes. I’m just excited to get out here in my new career
@@chrish.3898 to put give you an idea, I got my CDL through swift. Make 60k the first year. Left swift, made 100k with another company my second year. My third year, I made 150k (after expenses) as a lease operator. The money is out there. Just navigate it the right way etc. 🤙🏻
@@davidthompson184 my company lets me get on load board and pick my loads.
I would never lease a truck. Buy a 2007 or older truck and pay cash.
Once u do this do u think u can successfully make money leasing on with company?
Sadly, this won't work in California with the emissions laws
@@westcoasthustle6133 soon California is no longer gonna be part of America anyway
@@25blacksnow what is their emission law?
That's way to many mile. And the paychecks SUCK!
The good thing about Canada is benefits and vacation pay
But u are not taking the taxes out of the lease driver to my math the lease is still make a few hundred more per check but obviously alot more risk I say get all the numbers before committing to either
What is this I do 2500 miles in a week and get a check from $ 3500 to $ 4700 these people do it for free
My exact thoughts
I'm a rookie and have talked with several lease drivers ALL of them have leased for years and are happy, the guys that leased and failed were the guys that couldn't stay on the road because they had young children or a wife that they had to take time off to try to be present, but the other guys that had adult children or no commitment love it
Exactly right.
Thats low for leasing... Im going to lease where i am at and train students.. The pay weekly will be $6,500 to $7,200 weekly with 5 datys off monthly for monthly maintenace..
Lease operator no income taxes or social security taken out
ya better go back to school.....no free rides allowed
Didn't include taxes on lease operator
A new Lease video comparison is coming out next week, i will talk about the taxes. thanks for the comment.
So for lease opp, taxes are on the driver? So 31% hold on every pay? Have to take that into effect.
Last post..the real shame is...all have been doing this since day one. scamming.....and they wonder why there are problems..... kinda ironic lets just keep on lieing hoping for a solution.....the whole industry OTR...is messed up
Why would you rent a job?
Yes hi I’m axing about the leasing boardroom so actually I’m a driver and US so that you have 2 to do the agreement in Canada actually I’ll be working in the US let me know if you’re coming thank you
11k to 13k miles a month 😂 that's not stable, nor a work life balance. ET uder pays their drivers start looking for a percentage job
Hey how you doing budd I want to ask a question I wanna buy truck? And this guy you won't not make me drive out of the yard because insurance policy? What do you think
I think small private carriers are the best way to go. I'd love to share my stubs, and work week with you.
small carrier...small pay
@@robertjhilliard2403 I was making a six figure income working 3 days a week. The large corporation that bought us out didn't want to pay more than 50k a year.
@@Chris.christiansen.84 I’m leasing with small company.they pay me 90% of load. Only 1022 monthly on truck payment and 2675 on insurance.and 1600 a month for truck rental
heard driver pay is 70 cents pay per mile now .....whats left for the truck ?? 75 cents.....your broke
Great video, thanks for the info!
Fyi the "s" in Illinois isn't pronounced by most 😊
For the company driver you are showing the final amount after taxes. The lease operators still owe taxes to the government so thats not their true take home pay.
I take 3,600 every two weeks as company before taxes and medical
What company are you with?
I thought Canadian trucks get a load here and then get load here back to Canada.
Way to bounce around here then bounce back to Canada
Lease a truck is probably the worst idea. Might as well buy it if you wanna make more money.
I know company drivers making more than the lease operator pay statements he's showing. Lol
The settlement is much more because it's a 1099 and they the company don't take out your taxes
After 36 to 48 months you will own the truck and have about an extra $3000 a month.
after its paid off you have junk thats needs a full rebuild
@@robertjhilliard2403 you probably never did a lease
A LEASE PURCHASE ITS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE A DRIVER CAN MAKE... I DID IT TWICE WITH DIFFERENT COMPANIES & IT DIDNT WORK....🙄🙄🙄
If your on 1099 and percentage pay its a good deal
I don't know how I ended up getting the link of this video by email, from author himself, but he goes my question...do you hire drivers from overseas?
Hello Roman.
You need to turn your coffee cup around. Nobody sets down or reaches a coffee cup from that angle. On the bright side, good informative video. It would be nice if all trucking companies would put out information in this fashion.
Thanks for the tip!
Hey, do you hire foreign workers, too?
Seems kinda low for a company driver. This is biweekly pay or weekly?
bi weekly
Run as fast as you can. This is B.S
I like to know how to meke and save in the next program thanks
The camera is constantly refocusing on the numbers and is at an angle that puts the reader/viewer at a disadvantage.
I love compony plz can you acceft me i am driver from nepal
Forget lease these people are crooks don't trust least
Can immigrants be apart of the lease program?
The pay scale in Canada sucks. And the dollar is worth even less.
Granted I have my own authority and insurance, but I would quit if this is all I was making
ROFL that’s shit pay, get on with a company like swift for free drive for a year, then get your own truck and find a company that pays percentage and make 5-10k a week
Don’t leases bother wait to own you truck
This company is out of their mind you have to be a special kind of fool to drive a truck for what this company pays and the guy in the video talking like they paying something from what he showing basically you get paid for one week then you work for free the next week. This company owner is greedy beyond compare.
I would never work for et as a company driver they are making minimum wage rather work for a bigger corporation hourly at this point what a joke 28,546 a year no one can live on that what a joke
Feeder driver for UPS and I'm home every night and make over $40 &hour anything after 8 hours is $60+an hour im happy where I'm at
About to buy a truck and start in this biz.... should I lease on to a company to get over that 90 day hump before I can book a load with my own authority ?
Hahahaha man run away from trucking
Seems like both are make just about the same cuz the lease driver have to deduct his taxes,so the pay is almost the same but only difference I see is the lease driver will own the truck eventually that’s the only difference I can see
Yall prices on leasing is toooo high
Can i get a job offer in ET Transport
not worth doing lease at that company and then he’s comparing different division from low mile drivers to medium to high mileage this guy is a joke .
You got a new subscriber 🤞🌎
Where's the negative settlements, we have all heard the horror stories of lease operators driving all week, and owing the company money? Where are all the cash advances?
takehome, is that after tax? We got this employer tax here that goes on top. soo, is that the same as what you get in your pocket, done and done?
We got taxes on taxes and taxes on top of taxes over here so, just curious.
Damn bro you need to update your cameras Consul not giving into Focus extremely annoying
👍
So they get paid bi weekly
Running mileage is stupid
So he made $2,300 in 2 weeks? That's only $1,200 a week.
$8,000 bi weekly . After all expense
How ?
@@instantfearzz332 op went quiet. Anytime folks come on trucking videos and say wild stuff they go ghost when people question them. Never fails. 😂😂😂😂😑
Damn , I didn't know truck driving salary is that bad! OMG
Music is too loud...
So which contry
I don’t get why the lease operator is paid three times what the company driver is paid per mile. Even after the lease payment, the lease operator takes home $1000 more than the low end company driver.
