hello man, im a french student in a 2D animation school, and i wanted to say that ur better in explanation that most off my teachers, its been three years im animating with toonboom and i didnt even knew that we could do an automatic envelope! i'll send u what my puppet look like once that it will be finished! i hope u will get more viewers in the time because u truelly deserve it.
Just dropping by to express how grateful I am for this video!! I always come back to this whenever I want to refresh my knowledge on using cutters and autopatches! (This also definitely helped me with my thesis, so many thanks!)
I've just been learning this in my animation class, but my instructors go by so fast and it's hard to keep information straight. Having this video to reference and having you break everything down simply is amazing! Thank you! Edit: Note to self - 8:13
just saw this video and it's an amazing way to understand how everything is works! was trying to make Dean's Winchester rig for my college animation assignment (idk why i pick this complicated character when we could take whatever we want) done by a little bit more professional and in some ways it works, but it was painful and only now i realized after your video that it's could be done in a such easier way! Thank you so much for these videos! Hope soon i'm gonna understand it's better!
These tutorials have been awesome. I've been through almost all of the toon boom rigging tutorials and has been a task for each thing. Following from rigging 1-3 has been so many hours involved and it has definitely made me understand this a lot easier but how long their videos are and between switching characters I definitely have lost track many times. Your entire series is about four and a half hours when they have 40 hours of confusion lol. Thanks for this I'll definitely continue through these videos so I can finally start animating. A big thing that's thrown me off recently is the mouth being rigged a few different ways and toon boom does not do the best way to explain it. I really appreciate it hopefully I'm done with my character turn around soon.
Thanks so much Blimp! Glad you find them helpful. The character turnaround tute is next! Was meant to get it done this weekend but woooork. Appreciate it.
i already "knew" how to create rigs and make animations, after watching the tutorials from 3 to 8 i now laugh at me from the past for thinking that. Maaaaaaaaan i used to do so many things the wrong and/or complicated way just cause i didn't want to search and learn better ways.
Please create more videos and cover all the topics. In the internet no one guide like you. Pls cover all the animation include VFX. Thanks sir for your effort and great content.
Oh thank you finally i know how to navigate when in 3d haha no ones telling me or maybe im asking the wrong question xD ctrl alt. Ok ill continue watching very good tutorial and very good points. Subscribed
everytime i press alt and pg up or down my object starts moving up and down instead of back n forth and i do keep my cursor on the object window or where u told to keep it, plz guide
uh oh! the line appears! unlike the lines for the next part of the story... its been unfortunate but whatever was chasing sean and rob in the last video... got them. im sorry to say. what was it? i dont know. will we find out? time will tell. stay safe out there people!
@@callaxop ah yea there we go, sucks that it's not there in 17! At least you have the library though :) A good idea is to have the ca, la, ol, cutter, ap and comp nodes saved together in the library (not the node library) then you can just drag that into the node view and copy and paste them whenever you need them to save a bit of time instead of searching the node library.

The "Inception" of animation tutorials... 😛. I'll be watching this one more than once. Well done Sean 👍
Thanks Kristiiiii
This was super helpful, dealing with auto-patches and cutters is usually quite frustrating but you made it sound super easy, thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏

Great video. Although I’m experienced at rigging I do enjoy watching all the rigging videos. You’re right up there with Oli and Watts. Keep it up.
Thanks so much! Oli is a rigging god.
Amazing content. Thank you for explaining every step along the way.

yesss been waiting for part 8, thanks dude! by the way do u do commissions for animation??
Thanks for your comment. I do! Hit me up via email.
I added auto-patch but it doesn't work. I don't know why
like other comment "lines and colours should be in the color and line layer" :)
everytime i press alt and pg up or down my object starts moving up and down instead of back n forth and i do keep my cursor on the object window or where u told to keep it, plz guide
Should work. Make sure you're not using ctrl and that your alt button is working on your kb. Check keyboard shortcuts too.
Also make sure you have 'mouse on enter' enabled in preferences.
everything is checked from the preferences but still its not working@@DrawnSean
is there any other method to do that?@@DrawnSean
@@k44rbon Not sure what it could be, try the Toon Boom discord.
hi
I have a simple problem :)
I tried to use the auto patch and cutter
But it doesn't work completely
lines and colors should be in the color and line layer
@@keremangn865 OHH MY GOD. BIG THANK YOU
i get lost after adding pivots T^T Im really confused about deformer, and cutters

what was it? i dont know. will we find out? time will tell.

WHAT WAS IT? I NEED TO KNOOW ROB
When I press enter in the nodeview to have the node searchbox it does not appear, how do I activate it?
What version do you have?
@@DrawnSean I use version 17... I think that's where the problem lies... hehehe
