    I consider Jonty one of the greatest cricketers ever! Because he single-handedly changed two very important aspects of cricket: fielding and running between the wickets. And he did it very quietly! ❤ Jonty!

    Jonty is such an underrated batsman, he was good at facing genuine quicks and among the elite of the 90s who could negate Asian spin with use of feet n sweeps/reverse sweeps, he scored quickly too, outright entertainer.

      He and Andy Flower I remember were the only batter during that time who used to play reserve sweep shot to spinners.

    I personally think he could have been a great batsman. He had a very wide array of shots at his disposal. If only he had a great batting coach/mentor who could tweak his approach and technique slightly. He had a great eye and raw talent.

      Because jonty had very quick talent to track ball's movemoent,he was xcellant at making run-outs,he would guess accurately track of the ball the moment hit by batsman,& grab it & throw precisely at the wickets..the same eye sight brilliance made him pick bowler's ball also & scoring boundries at will,that made him a handsome batsman.

    46.3 overs 213/ 5, Jonty 100. After 50 overs 270/5 Jonty 107. So in 21 balls SA scored 57 runs! So how much pollock scored in the end

    I remember watching this game.. back in my school days a die-hard South African fan then, I remember Shaun Pollock blasted 27 of Franklin's over and scored 69*, last ball of first innings was a mis-field for boundary. The only team against whom Shane Bond has a bad individual record as compared to the other teams

    With some help by Shaun Pollock in the end of the innings. Incredible player Jonty was! One of the best fielders I've ever seen.

    Remember when these VB tri series were a thing... and when it was Australia v New Zealand v one other team every other year... great time to watch ODI cricket... now all us Kiwis get is just T20 and maybe a 2 test series.

    That on-drive was delightful. Often his fielding overshadows his batting. One of the best horizontal bat players. His fieldkng and catching balls horizontally makes that possible

    23 for 3 and they managed to win the match. This is why South Africa were a magical team between 1999 and around 2011. They were unpredictable and could pull off just about anything.

    Watching Jonty bat, I almost see shades of the way ABD bats. Like quicksilver around the crease. ABD is really Jonty 2.0.

    South Africans were struggling with 4 wickets down & this guy repaired the innings.
    He was a natural talent.... A pure sportsman.
    He was also selected for the South African National Hockey team, but he chose Cricket....!!!!! How many of them would create these opportunities..!?

    50 overs- its 270.
    21 deliveries 57 runs. Thats a big hitting even by todays standards.
    3.3 overs-57 runs. and in those 57 runs Johnty scored only 7. Pollock is such a clean hitter!

    This might be Ist or 2nd Final in the 2002 VB series tournament...Its rare to see Australia not in finals in there home series... It's Shane Bond who closed the ODI chapter of Waugh brothers.

    I remember this series… Shane bond troubled Aussies a lot. nz defeated Australia in a couple of matches, Bevan played one innings that seemed unbelievable. Overall great memories.

    Look at the bat size compared to todays
    Every new generation player'$ off stick and leg stick gets kissed and knocked off if they use those bats today .
