    I actually used “to zanarkand” as a lullaby for my kids. I would boot up the game, go to Luca to the theater and play it for a while for their naps. It worked lol

    Ff10 and the first Kingdom Hearts were the first games that I played that actually made me emotionally invested enough in their stories to ugly cry. Playing Donkey Kong and Mario did nothing to prepare me for the masterpieces of story work that these 2 games were. They will always be among my favorites!

    Absolutely great video. This game was lightning in a bottle…and its uniqueness in the FF world kinda divides people (a lot of people don’t like CTB, I love it personally), but the somber tones, the plot, and characters, literally everything about this game is why it’s my favorite of all time.

    I played most of the FF games, even being a die hard XIV player for a 2 year period. But X still holds a special place in my heart. Nothing will ever beat the sense of awe i felt while exploring Spira. Ivalice comes as a close second based just on the world building. And Eorzea is just in a league of its own. I started with IX and backtracked to most of the other titles and only VI and VII have captured my imagination in that way. I really love FF. Hope XVI can restore my faith in the franchise as the modern ones are pretty bad for me. Nice video bro, enjoed the trip back to Spira!

    My first time I played the game was when I was 5. My dad ran a school, and somehow managed to find an abandoned copy of FFX in one of the classrooms. No one came to pick it up at the end of the year and it went to me. I played up until Macalania before my ma started getting uncomfortable with all the talk of 'Sin,' so I lost the game. Then I bought it when I got older, beat the thing, and felt like a part of my childhood was made whole.

    amazing video - keep making these! There was one moment I'll never forget as a 13 year old playing this. We get to Zanarkand and the mood is so somber because we know what's in store for Yuna - and the song "Someday the Dream Will End" hits so hard. Walking around, a normal random battle triggers, but the fight music doesn't start like it did the first thousand battles. Instead, the sad song just continues. Still get chills thinking about that moment.

    I pushing 40. I have seen the greatest days of gaming come and go. FF10 was slap bang in the middle of the greatest time to play games. There was a creativity, an element of risk studios were willing to take back then. The stories, FF10 being one of the best, were fantastic. Great video, man.

    FF X is the next best game squaresoft had ever made beyond Ff7. The music composed for the game gave it its own feel alongside the story and characters very similar to 7. The story is very interesting and the gameplay flows well. But the cutscenes were the best I had ever seen till that point, which made it even better that you could save those cutscenes and view them back in the world like cinema. I used to show my friends just the videos because they wouldn’t have the patience to sit and watch me play or try to play themselves.

      I think X really does linear perfectly and benefits from this so much by making the story cohesive and streamlined that the moments all hit. The narration by tidus who is essentially your viewpoint into the story in an organic way is such a brilliantly utilised tool.
      I actually think this is the best Final Fantasy game ever made.

    I think Kimahri's rage and aggression could be justified at that point of the game. It's out of jealousy. Because he's been Yuna's guard since she was a kid and he knows what will happen to Yuna when she finishes her journey, then Tidus comes out of nowhere and tags along and for whatever reason he also becomes a guard. For Kimahri, Tidus had it too easy, especially considering Tidus knows nothing about Yuna and the culture in general and he is just so unlikeable in the beginning
    i would be pissed too

    I experienced ffx for the first time in 2022, I can genuinely say that I hate that it took me so long to play this amazing game. Although what makes it worse is that I'm really inconsistent when playing games nowadays(which honestly attests to how good it is for me to come back and finish it which I usually don't do) played like 5hours and dropped it, just to pick it up like 7months later and put 40hours into it and played it every time I could. Now... I just enjoy watching all sorts of videos like this that talk about it for long periods of time :)
    Currently dropped X-2 back in late September and not sure if I'll go back and finish it yet😅

    But ever since Ive been an avid gaming fan though I only got into FF much more after seeing Dissidia and decided to visit the worlds of all these new characters.
    FFX is my all time favorite game and I dont think that'll change any time soon. Even if FFX-3 is shit (if/when that happens) I think Spira will forever be my happy place.

    on another note, out of my several hundred hours' of playtim, at least a hundred went into dodging lightning so I could beat penance with Lulu. her attacks are slow but she's my favorite character, so ehh, worth it. another couple hundred went to blitzball...

    I played this game so much, I had totally reworked the sphere grid eliminating all the +1, 2, and 3 stat bonuses and replaced them all with 4s. 😎 And personally, I loved sending the Onion Knight in to do a flip kick on Omega Weapon for 99,999 damage. I dodged SO MANY lightning bolts for that thing, I was gonna use it to it's fullest!

      Haha, yeah I remember spending crazy amounts of time fiddling with the Sphere Grid and grinding for spheres at the monster Arena. Probably the grindiest thing I ever did in the game was farm for 99x Dark Matters at the Monster Arena. Of course, you get 99x by unlocking the Ultima Buster, but the only other way to get them is to get lucky by fighting Arena Creations if you want to put another Ribbon on your armour. Good times lol

    • @mattwilson8298

      @Candle Type 1a Yeah, there is a high likelihood that any save file I loaded would have me at the arena. Killing all those Dark Flans for magic stat spheres was the hardest for me.

I let a friend and his then pregnant wife borrow it in 03 she loved the game so much that not only did it make her a long time fan but she ended up naming her daughter Yunaleska no I didn't spell it wrong my friend's wife purposely changed the c with a k because she said it looks cooler on paper. 😂

    I played FFX only 3 years ago. I have to admit it left some bitter taste in my mouth because the way Tidus was treated by most of the other characters. They are all self important because they're on a journey to save the world/ protect their all important Yuna, and this unknown strange kid Tidus lost his memories and are getting in their way. So Wakka thinks Tidus has problems, Lulu thinks he's selfish and immature, Auron knows everything but keeps it from Tidus, and basically none of them bother to ask about Tidus.
    When Tidus sacrifice his own existence to save Yuna and their "real" world, none of the part member says anything. I'm not even sure if they know what it means to Tidus. They just watch him disappear and continue their own celebration. And I'm sitting here thinking is this how you treat people?

  • @danelmore6553
    @danelmore6553 Год назад

    It is certainly conceivable that I am wrong, but I think you rather missed the boat on a fundamental aspect of the actual narrative. I don't think Tidus traveled into the future, at all. In fact, he never existed in this "world", in any time.
    Aside from the requirement that such would require Sin to be able to time-travel (which I am certain you can see creates a myriad of other problems, if you really think on it for a moment), the information to dissuade the viewer/player from their initial interpretation of events is right there in the dialogue, throughout the late-game. Tidus couldn't have ever traveled from the past of this world, because he never actually existed in this world, in any time. He was a dream, or part of the dream, of the Fayth. Specifically, the Behamut Fayth explains that he "made" him (meaning, I presume, that he dreamed him), in the 1,000 year dreaming since the fall of Zanarkand. The Fayth are imprisoned spirits of those who were really there, in Zanarkand before the fall, but the Zanarkand Tidus comes from isnt that Zanarkand - He comes from "the memory of Zanarkand", shared by the Fayth. Perhaps there was a version, of Tidus, in the "actual" Zanarkand, but the one we know, and love, isn't him.
    None of this particularly alters the narrative at the micro level, in any real way, but it is meant to have a rather profound impact on how the player perceives his role in, not only the story, but indeed in the world of Spira. It is, after all, quite a meta narrative, given that it is "Final FANTASY". That is to say that, in FFX, it is quite literally the player-character itself, which is the fantasy. There is something elegant and beautiful about that, in my opinion, which is the only reason I find it a bit shocking that so many people still attribute the whole narrative to "time travel", even after twenty years.

    • @danelmore6553
      @danelmore6553 Год назад

      I think it also worth mentioning that the reason for "breaking the endless spiral of death", as opposed to just "defeating sin" yet again, is to free the Fayth, so they may cease their endless dreaming which is has been powering the cycle. THAT is actually the reason Tidus ceases, once the cycle is broken, and Yu Yevon is dead. Tidus doesn't warp back to his time in the past, and he doesn't drift off with the pyre flies, like every one else who dies in Spira, because he isnt alive, in that sense. He just ceases, because you freed the one/ones who were dreaming him into existence. He knew all of this would happen, because Buhamet Fayth told him it would (in the cavern of the stolen Fayth, any time after the "death" of Mika), and he even comments, albeit vaguely, on this outcome, before the final battle.
      To perceive all this as "time-travel" is to miss all of the deepest aspects of the what is really happening in the final scene.

      Indeed. I understand TEE-dus may be the official pronunciation, but TIDE-us always made more sense to me, since Tidus is a Blitzball player which takes place completely underwater, so he's a proficient swimmer who is able to hold his breath for an inhuman amount of time. TIDE-us just makes more sense of that water theme.
