- Every shot from Luke's round (9 handicap) of golf at the Hotchkin course at Woodhall Spa Golf Club. This course is a par 72, slope rating of 149 and located in Lincolnshire. This is my first time ever playing this golf course so I'm going to be in for a tough test. My ambitious target is to break 80... Can I do it?

I’m a country member there and so play at Woodhall quite often, and all I can say is Wow - you absolutely smashed it!
You essentially played that round to the level of a 4 handicapper, seriously impressive for someone off 9! 👏🏼
I see many single handicappers play the Hotchkin and struggle to break 80, myself being one of them.

I get to play there a couple of times a year, also off 9, and you played it exactly right - keep your driver in play. Apart from a couple, you drove it beautifully. Doing that means good lies for approach shots, so making the bunkers avoidable. Brilliant effort for first time there! Well done. I have to say, though, that from the whites, it's a very different animal. Another 16 slope points for starters!
Cheers Peter, completely agree. Missing the bunkers and keeping most tee shots in play was massive. I thought it was 149 slope from the yellows and 151 from the whites?

@@UpDownGolf no worries at all fit so good, I played comp today and I came 3rd overall and 1st in B grade, total 66 golfers and got nearest to the pin as well💪👊

this was an amazing round of golf. consistent, good strikes, good recoveries. Must be one of your best rounds sofar in combination with the difficulty of the course. loved watching the 18 holes.

Well done! Nice score. Have you ever played at Burnley? I'd say that is much more difficult than this. You can't even see the greens most of the time, and it's windy AF all the time.

Insanely good round! Did you have the feeling on the back 9 that you were in a different dimension? Do you ever get one of those rounds where you feel like someone else is controlling your club and you can do no wrong? I get one of those a year. Anyway, great play! 5 hcp before too long if you keep it up!
I didn't but I was a bit distracted with the filming element I think. That's happened a few times where I've thought less on my round, more about filming and I've posted a good score 👍

Should give willow valley a go if you haven’t already, especially in this weather. Balls don’t travel and the holes are already long. Would love to see a video there and see if you can break 90 there
Strangely enough I played it yesterday and shot 80 (did you mean break 80?). It was pretty muddy but not bad considering the recent weather we've had
@@UpDownGolf 80 sorry not 90 , the course tears me apart every time I play I haven’t even broke 100 there. Courses like Normington and Wike feel comfortable and I can get around in low 90’s. It’s probably a mental thing. I Should be playing oulton soon so I’ll see how thst compares, great video btw
The greens were definitely the best bit of Willow Valley I'd say, they were pretty quick. Don't have too high expectations of Oulton. It gets pretty chewed up at the best of times, especially after a bit of rain. Thanks man 👍

Tough 😂😂lol try playing the Nicklaus course at st mellion…this looks like a puppy dog compared to the Nicklaus…they used to have the benson and hedges there and even the pros said it’s too tough 😂😂😂 u played some lovely golf on this vid 👍👍

@@UpDownGolf I know but honestly give the Nicklaus a go it’s legendary I’m always curious about slope ratings and how they do work..James Wiltshire who’s a decent golfer played the Nicklaus on you tube not so long ago..check it out..well played and will add woodhall to my list looks lush..just played Monte rei and it had billions of bunkers like here 😂😂👍👍👍

Funnily enough just been playing at my club stover which is where mark crossfield was a junior and member still..golf fame for the club 😂😂 I digress anyway my mate who I played with this morning has played woodhall spa several times and the Nicklaus and says woodhall is tougher so I take it back lol..try playing the Nicklaus tho u would enjoy it 👍👍

@@UpDownGolf As in not vertical, more baseball-y. Don't know how else to describe it other than flat. Mainly on the drives. Having said that, the second shot on the second, the 5 iron, that's the same. Not knocking it, it's a hell of a round at the end of the day, it just jumped out at me. Nice video.
It's your follow through looks like you are using a scythe don't ever try to change it it's working brilliantly 👍

Incredible to avoid ALL the bunkers. Your overall play was the best I’ve seen. What did Fents shoot? Tough course, ugly as sin, but tough. Course looks like a third reich bombing run that went awry!
