Okay I commented mid viewing before lol but through the end I have now realised this is a great channel and communicating things like this is something I haven’t seen on RUclips before and thought was needed. I’m a lawyer so I have some strong and probs bias opinions on record labels and the things I’ve seen them do and think they could be made redundant basically. In the sense that there are skills artists need more than what they have do these days and the way they have gone about it to date means they probably deserve that lol. But I think they are now looking much further forward and the way they are prioritising getting the intellectual property while still treating artists badly is very short sighted of them

No offence to them but I think industry ppl a big part of the problem is the tech industry has already recognised they suck at this and so took over the role of deciding what “ought” to be and this is how we ended up with TikTok trash. So then they try jump on that bandwagon which only works for them because unfortunately ppl are not yet sufficiently aware of the insanity that gets into contracts (no offence) or the real meaning of words like “advance” which not to be direct but imho means “debt with bad terms” artists also at that point have lost direct control of website data for merch and such

But like I agree with a lot of what you said
