I returned to Atari after decades, started with the Retron 77, then the New VCS(love it) and I ordered a 2600+ day 1.....I now have 80 Atari 2600 cartridges and 7 Atari 7800 ! More than excited!
I missed out on the 2600 as a child and instead had to settle for a Binatone pong machine 😅😅 😮😮 I'd be more interested in the smaller compact system coming out though 🤩🤩🕹🕹
They are both brilliant looking systems but the plug n play is stunning looking 😊 I still have at least 3 binatone pong systems they bring back so many memories 😊😊😊
Ive already pre ordered ive got a old atari all beat up an like u said it takes a hour to get it working....The fact its hdmi makes me happy,,Ive got over 100 cartridges i can use..Im very glad about that..
@@ukkrautgaming Well i have old cartridges i can use an a atari but its basically not working right atm its old like me, So this is a perfect solution, ive never owned 7800 games i may buy a few
This is interesting, probably more so if you still have a physical collection. Would've been better if they had more games on the included cart. 10 just seems mean lol
Your right there John they should of put more on the cart as they are so small 🤔 They do look fantastic both of the systems and at least the games are still on the cheap side so if you want to start collecting them. Plus it's great not having all the hassle of hooking up to a modern TV 😊😊😊
Technically, the original VCS was intended to be a budget computer, as per its acronym - Video Computer System. Problem with the 2600+ is that it's just an emulator. The VCS should have come with a cart slot to begin with, so people could use their old carts, and have the online library to browse for games they don't have already. Either way, they're just collector's editions. There's cheaper, even free alternatives to play old Atari games without having to waste money on a new machine. If Atari were serious about getting back in the the console wars, they would have built the VCS and Atari 2600+ together without the emulator. They could have used a mini Atari board for the retro 2600 functions to play original 2600 games, and had a switch to be able to use the VCS for the online games, but also could make more modern cart games that could utilize the more powerful modern VCS CPU. Seriously, you could put massive sized games in a cart the size of an Atari cart. Heck, I'm running the recent version of KDE Neon that's utilizing Wayland and Plasma 6, as well as Pipewire, all on a 128 GB thumb drive. That's enough storage for at least 3 modern games, possibly a few more, as the size varies from 5 GB to 25 GB. There would still be enough room for any specialized chipsets or enhancements to add onto the performance of the original hardware. Something similar has been done with the original VCS where you can actually watch movie cartridges on it. Granted, they're not the greatest of quality, but they're a pretty amazing feat, considering that for decades no one thought it was possible. The possibilities with a modern cart and a modern VCS.
Hi fella unfortunately it was a bit of misinformation on my part they were going to original include 5200 but in the end just went with the 2600 Very missed opportunity I would say 🤔 Sorry to have confused matters 😊😊😊
What I really want is a machine that can play perfect reproductions of the actual arcade games (e.g. MAME) with cabinet-quality controls. The home consoles sucked compared to the arcade machines.
@@ukkrautgaming Possibly. Seems their normal controller doesn't have a trackball but they have another that does. Still need to find if they have spinners for e.g. Tempest.

Yes it's going to be brilliant Chris I can't wait so much easier to run over a modern tv 😊😊😊
