  • A 3 km walk along the beach. From Caesarea's aqueduct, built by Herod the great and to the beach at the Arab town of Jisr az Zarka. (and another 3 km back to Caesarea).
The major Roman port city of Caesarea, built by King Herod the great some 2000 years ago was in need of fresh water. So, to accomplish this an elaborate system of underground tunnels and aqueducts were built, carrying the water some 23 kilometers to the city.
6 kilometers of this are the underground tunnels. Today, visitors at Park Alona can experience 300 meters of the dark tunnel with flowing cool knee-high water.
