Congrats mate, well deserved. Your videos have influenced the way loads of us display our retro kit, myself included. Every time I see a game room with scalers/slg3000 etc cant help but think, yup this guys been faginerd. ;) Awesome stuff
Thanks again shaun for a great episode of informative goodness. It was down to you that i now play all my retro stuff on my sony crt, imagine playing the saturn through a 50" plasma, how shizz would that have looked. Keep um coming, can't wait for your next instalment
Thanks mate. Awesome news about you getting a JAP 360 and bucket load of shmups. They really are the moderm shmup epic console imo. People moan about no modern stuff coming out for current gen, yet the 360 has become quite a special box in that way. These things should be worth millions in years to come! :-D
I was that close to getting one..... the port quality is pretty special and it's quite amazing how far ahead of it's time it really was imo. This is perhaps what the PCFX should have been in many ways. Desktop was 640x480 but the emu seems to force the dos mode into 800x600. It messed the scaling up a tad through the Extron.
Congratulations on the subscribers mate although it's well deserved because no one else has devoted so much time and money into the preservation of scanlines! The porn was well worth the wait and it just goes to show that you haven't bought all of these contraptions for nothing! Sony just called "Your cheques in the mail!" (Trinitron salesman of the month)
I feel i pretty much have all the equipement necessary now, the only problem is the NTSC TV that doesn't have RGB input, only component and s-video. It coest a lot only to get scanlines, but the result, up to now is in my opinion worth it, as my eyes don't bleeds from the jitter anymore.
Thanks, I've been looking on ebay is the model number ER-9021 ? there's one in the US but won't post to the UK. what it does is impressive :) have you previously reviewed it? I was looking back through your vids but can't find it (thought you said you had, maybe I mistaken) Cheers
Paul - You won't get any respect from me until you get a Vert cab!!!!! Seriously though.... thanks for your comments and support over the recent years.
WORKS FIRST TIME...EVERY TIME !!! Haha, great news on the 600 subs mate, and an interesting subject for your video...thanks to this I will now not risk stuffing up my laptop or a connected CRT with its custom NVIDIA settings even though I suspect that I could chuck anything at the B&O and it will come out smelling of roses!! (OK, not really). So the Emotia will be a good investment to get some use out of the UMSA. Unfortunately my laptop is hardly an overclocked graphics behemoth. LOL nice vid.
Congratulations on the subs, good to know there's a strong following of scan porn out there. Couldn't find one of these cheap enough a while back so bought the pseudo 240p one. Definitely reignited my interest in one but all of my CRTs are fucked! Two in two month. Never buy Phillips :(
480i has nothing to do with the svideo input. You can send 240p, 480i & 480p through svideo. If you're getting 480i then it's either the source that is sending 480i or your TV does not natively accept a 240p signal and is interlacing it.
Yer I was gonna say that, your Naomi & Lindbergh setups both use JVS setups. What do you reckon would be the best way to play emulators via a Jamma setup?
Fantastic job, can you say me if i take a arcade game that native resolution is 224p, for example, many games are not exactly 240p in its native resolutions, but the question is, if i take one game from my pc in 480p (native resolution was 224p) and make this What you did. I Will take the real deal of the arcade? Or the image Will not be pixel perfect? Thank you
I am a sucker for this 240p scanline CRT glory.... I have a similar Sony TV sitting next to my LCD that could benefit from such a scanconverter.... Jeebers those things are expensive! :P
Mate can you review the Viletim console to Jamma converter. I picked one up to hock up my PC to the device using VGA to RGB Scart & using Soft15khz but I just cant get the picture correct (keeps rolling)
nice vid, i have been looking for one of these but they never seem to have the PSU, if you still got it handy could you tell me the serial number so i can hunt one down, i have tried to look it up but all i can find is diy instructions for making one from a ATX PSU
I have a question. I have a crt north american tv which supports svideo, composhite and component video. This is what i use as a monitor in my mame cab. Thing is i use svideo and it flickers since it's 480i. I feed it svideo for now. Would an emotia let me have those scanlines if i were to output to either svideo or component? I just bought 2 gadgets, an extron 580xi and an extron dvs 204, and i'm into testing it, (i still have not received them) but on my side an emotia is expensive... If you
Now it becomes clear. Ibara and Mushi are a 480i balls up by the developers. I have modded (240p) versions of those games, but you need a chipped PS2 to play them. You could try using an Extron RGB interface (not the emotia) - see one of my other videos - but I can't say for sure if it will work on your TV.
They seem to have shot through the roof recently.... it's crazy. The UMSA will only work one way. If you want to go the other way, then you need to use the Sync Strike.
oh man my x68000 died about 2 years ago but man castlevania was the dogs bollocks on that but that was the only bloody game i had for it tbh lol... could not for the life of me find a easy way to write disc's for it ;( and god the games are shit hard to get hold of so this method looks quite epic tbh!
Hmmm... allright... well, i know that i see a clear difference on my TV for DDP in TATE on PS2, and i think ESP Galuda, not too sure, but let's say Ibara and mushi it is flickering like crazy. I get nice scnaline look on DDP DOJ PS2 on my TV, so i guess it does support 240p. What i want basicallt is to use the TV as the monitor but always in 240p. will the emotia do it, via Svideo? You brits are lucky, you got scart and native RGB!
Sorry... you totally lost me then as I thought you were referring to a CRT then! lol It's a Super Emotia you ideally need - not sure what the model number is as it's packed away at the moment.
Hey there, got myself the following gadgets: extron DVS 204 scaler, an emotia, and here is the setup: Xbox (s-video) to DVS 204 (scaler) to super emotia i just bought to television set: result: Scanlines! Playing coinops on my DIY arcade cab. Now. I need to know. is this the proper way to do it, or are there even better ways to achieve this? i have not been able to use the 580xi yet as i do not have an RGB monitor (one day i'll have one, i just gotta be patient).
Although I do agree the X68000 looked superb and this is the only realistic way of playing those games today, i'm not a fan of emulation - but each to their own.
Sorry it took so long to reply but I can't for the life of me figure out how to respond to that comment now the whole Greedle+ thing has taken over. So anyway.. LOL! :)
Please give it a go.... if only for the comedy value of you blowing the shit out of your B&O. It will keep me smiling for weeks on end! ;-) Spend some more money you tight feck!
Ive been looking at the extron emotia but their pretty rare and expensive Can that vga to scart adapter work the other way around? so i can plug rgb scart into the vga socket. It looks fantastic anyway, connect it to your cab for the ultimate jizz fest
ya man seen ways to hack a old pc power supply to get it up and running again but for 1 its way beyond me and 2 it looks like a hack job with it sticking out the back ect :( and tbh i did not know you could install a cd drive on one of these lol might get round to looking at getting this up and running again some day :)
Congrats! You're channel is very unique and very informative. Don't ever stop.
Congrats on the subs mate! Well deserved.
The scan converter is a very VERY interesting device.
Well deserved mate. Love the vids, especially the scanline stuff. Brilliant !
Only just subbed recently and spent a good amount of time going through your back catalogue =D. Love your videos man! Keep up the awesome work!
Congratulations on 600!
Thanks for doing a video on the X68000.

Thanks, they look like they will be hard to come by! but I'll keep a look out :)
congrats Shawn, youre hardcore enough for 600 subs!!! can you make a top 10 list of your favorite subscribers? and a shit list also?
Thanks mate. Awesome news about you getting a JAP 360 and bucket load of shmups. They really are the moderm shmup epic console imo. Hi very nice indeed :) would the slg in a box be able to do the same?
Mark - Thanks for your kind words. With regards to the scan convertor - you know you want one!!!!!!
Many thanks man!

No problems and thanks for the comment!

the one advertised is Extron Super Emotia ER-9021 ? is that your only vid on the super emotia? :)
Thanks Dal!
Like the 580xi in your other video? But what if i want to output to svideo, which is the input on the tv?

Good call dude! I'll have into that one.
lol thanks Ian. Life is good when I know I'm able to influence so many, in buying even more shit! :D
Thanks dude.
I am a sucker for this 240p scanline CRT glory.... I have a similar Sony TV sitting next to my LCD that could benefit from such a scanconverter.... Jeebers those things are expensive! :P
Lol! Cant see how that would improve my gaming experience, but shit, I'll try anything once!
Mate can you review the Viletim console to Jamma converter.

Very useful gadget, and also very rare item, at least for me.

There is a new shoot'em up available on iOS : Blazing Star (released in 1998 on Neo Geo), for 2.39 euro.

I feel a bit confused. can i use an emotia to show 240p via svideo on my North american TV? do you know of any place where i can buy a super emotia?
That's a proper shitter on the CRT's kicking the bucket. Just means you'll have to replace them! ;-)
Sorry... you totally lost me then as I thought you were referring to a CRT then! lol
It's a Super Emotia you ideally need - not sure what the model number is as it's packed away at the moment.
I haven't got unit to test.... don't need it as I use the JVS stuff for connection to a PC or whatever.
Could I feed that a VGA and output 240p component to my sony bvm?
Hey there, got myself the following gadgets: extron DVS 204 scaler, an emotia, and here is the setup:

I know mate.... can't believe it personally. 8-O
ROFLOL - The pleasure is all yours! :D
Yeah.... I should have been a proper nerd at school. :-D
No problem Ori - You will of course be named for every single place on my shit list!
Sorry it took so long to reply but I can't for the life of me figure out how to respond to that comment now the whole Greedle+ thing has taken over.

Does look fantastic mate but the emulator aspect/scaling is off ;)
44 subs to go for the magic 1000 mate
Sorry - never heard of that, let alone reviewed it. :D
40% - that much!!?? I must try much harder to confuse! :-D
You sure can!
Ive been looking at the extron emotia but their pretty rare and expensive
Can that vga to scart adapter work the other way around? so i can plug rgb scart into the vga socket.
It looks fantastic anyway, connect it to your cab for the ultimate jizz fest
Cheers mate.
I think "King of useless shit" would be more apt!
Expense is emotive and subjective - rob a bank and buy one!
ya man seen ways to hack a old pc power supply to get it up and running again but for 1 its way beyond me and 2 it looks like a hack job with it sticking out the back ect :(
and tbh i did not know you could install a cd drive on one of these lol might get round to looking at getting this up and running again some day :)
Are you a Brummie?
I bet the PSU died!?
You can get round the disc issue by sticking a CD drive on it.
You eagle eyed scanline freak! ;-) :D
See the above response.
There is no other worth spreading!!!! ;-)
Cheers mate. Not sure I like the "faginerd" bit..... it could be worse though, you could have been "fingered" instead!
No, not to a 15khz target device (CRT TV).
I'm trying not to be abusive here.... nope. ;-)
