- The New England Patriots hold the 3rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and the latest Patriots draft rumors feature a trade. ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that the Patriots have received a lot of calls for a trade regarding the 3rd pick in the NFL Draft. The Patriots top need is a quarterback, and are primed to select one of Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Minnesota Vikings reportedly have a lot of interest in North Carolina QB Drake Maye, and want to trade up and select him. Could Patriots GM Eliot Wolf trade back from the 3rd pick with the Minnesota Vikings?

Adam Schefter also reported that the Patriots could be like the Arizona Cardinals last year. The Cardinals traded back from the 3rd pick, and then traded back to pick No. 6 for Paris Johnson Jr., the Ohio State OT. New England very well could trade back for the 11th and 23rd pick, and then trade back into the top 10 for J.J. McCarthy.

You need a QB. If Maye is there at #3, you take him. Yes, he needs some time and some coaching, but I wouldn't try to mess with the top picks... just my opinion. I heard a certain Boston Spirts radio host say you hot to work the draft.. no team ever works the draft.. don't mess with a top 3 pick!
I was basically thinking the same thing, three 1sts + vikings WR just to consider. I, too am cautiously optimistic about Maye. Mostly I'm just nervous about the whole damn draft and the whole damn season 😅 I'm hoping for a better defense than last year (in general, but also from healed injuries) with that being good enough to get Jacoby or DraftKid a decent amount of wins.

*Trade back with Minnesota…and then package that 11th pick to move up into the 6-9 range and take one of the top receivers or tackles on the board. Then use the 23rd pick to trade up and take whatever position you didn’t select with the previous trade. The Patriots have a starting quarterback who is serviceable enough to help win them some games. Is Jacoby gunna win us a Super Bowl? No. But being able to walk away with one of the top tackles AND receivers in this draft…both positions we currently DON’T have a starter at…AND gaining a pick next year that we can use to package for another franchise QB would be a MASSIVE win for this football team.*

Patriots need to draft Drake Maye, sit him for a year and beef up the O.L and add some weapons this year and next year. Maye will be a really good starting QB. Maye had no O.L. and not much in the receiver department. And he's not a diva like Caleb Williams
Or trade with the Vikings for 3 first round picks and a second…get a bunch of talent and then draft Sanders next year. Kid was easily QB 2 this year best pocket passer in college this year since Joe Burrow.

They have a lot of needs to fill on both sides of the ball. 1 player is not going to solve all of their problems.
I remember the 2009 draft where the Pats made an absurd amount of trades and ended up with 12 players in that class along with multiple picks for the next draft in 2010.
Granted they traded away the pick that became a future Hall of Famer in Clay Matthews, but got guys that were key pieces for years to come like Chung, Vollmer, & Edelman. So it worked out.

I don’t understand where Drake Maye even came from. He wasn’t even a heisman candidate. Penix was talked about all season and won all the big games except against the one top defense represented by the champs. How often do the football gurus get it wrong? More often than not!
Drake maye will go down just like the other UNC bums Mitch Trubitsky, Sam Howell, no no no no don't draft him trade with Vikings and get there 11th and 23rd and there next season 1st rounder so we can have 2 next year also and maybe get Dion Sanders Son
Trading back is the best option here. Our offense is no where need quarterback ready. We need to put food pieces around the offense and let them develop around brisset for a year. Then hopefully well have the vikings first with that pic and we’ll be able to trade up for a qb or even stay where we’re at.

Exactly, 3 firsts and some change like a 3rd should be enough. If the Pat's don't want that. So be it but the Vikings won't offer much more if any more for that 3rd pick. It's fine to stick and pick. Vikes can trade with other teams or even stay at 11 and pick JJ if he's there. Pat's really have to decide if it's worth the extra picks to trade down in a stacked class. If they feel it's not stick and pick. But to think your getting 6 picks is delusional.

If i were Arizona, who already has pick #27 anyway, I'd much rather stay at 4 and take Marvin Harrison Jr. He's worth more than 11+23 imo
If they trade away from Daniels or Maye their idiots! All they need to do is take what ever QB falls to them. Either Daniels or Maye are worth taking the chance on.

Why trade down to a team that wants exactly what you want, don’t play games let’s get our QB for the future and if Drake Maye is there they better run to the podium don’t even wait for Roger Godell.
I'd take Jayden Daniels.
If we do trade down with the Vikings I’d grab Joe alt or just a LT in general then a WR in the first. 2nd I’d trade down get more additional picks for 2025 and snag Xavier leggette or Ricky pearhsall. 3rd Spencer rattler. 4th Cade stover. 5th James Williams. 6th/7th Edge/CB. Then we would have additional picks for 2025. This would fill in holes we have on our offense + defense and we would have so much more flexibility for the draft in 2025

I’m sure we probably get more than this trading back but trade back with Vikings for at least 3 firsts and a second. Get Penix and AD Mitchell first round. Trade vikings 2nd and our 4th for BA. And go from there🤷🏽♂️

I believe Michael Pennix will be long gone by 34. He ran a 4.45 on his pro day. Someone desperate will take a flyer on him in the 16-24 range rather than be caught out in the cold. The Raiders, Broncos, Seahawks or Saints will trade up from the 2nd round back up into the first and take him.

I don't understand why everyone thinks a non NFL ready QB is worth the third overall. Yes, Maye's ceiling is POTENTIALLY very high. BUT his floor RIGHT NOW is the lowest of all the QB's. THERE IS NO guarantee he'll ever climb to his ceiling potential, the ONLY guarantee is the floor he is at RIGHT NOW.
Viking- get pick 3, a first round draft pick for the next two drafts a second round draft pick next year. Patriots get Justin Jefferson and pick 23?🤔🤷♂️
