I have had the #3 Aroma for years, in fact I have two, as we are snowbirds and we (my girlfriend and I) have homes in two different places. I got my first one four years ago and it works great. My only complaint with it is that when you open it up any steam or moisture that built up around the rim would pour down the back and would make a mess. I took two lying down a dish towel behind it before opening it up. This has been rectified with the one I bought last year has been updated as now it pours into a little removable reservoir, similar to the ones on instant pots. It appears though they made an upgrade to it since I bought the second one as the one pictured here and then on their website has more options like making oatmeal (you have always been able to make oatmeal just not a specific button for it) I’ve made just regular white rice in mine, brown rice, but I’ve also made hard boiled eggs, chicken thighs and rice, etc.. this is not the one Uncle Roger uses (I believe that’s on her list also) but I have seen several RUclips Chefs who use the Aroma. It’s a great buy on Amazon for under $50.
Thanks for your insights! I think the design change to the AROMA Digital Rice Cooker is quite recent, and, as you say, the unit is great value considering the price to performance ratio. I think a lot of people are surprised at just how versatile some of these more budget rice cookers can actually be; the differences between pressure cookers and rice cookers have definitely gotten smaller in recent times.
