Very good video of how to install the K2/K3 using cansmart. Thanks for your effort and good work. Some annotations from my side: - You GS does not seem to have a TPM installed, so there is enough space for the DVR in the back. With a TPM installed, there will be not enough space (at least at the 22' GS) and you have to mount the DVR right under the drivers seat. - The fog lights are the most obvious place to mount the front cam, but as you can see in your sample, the cam gets some vibrations from the street there. A better (or more stable) place is right above the headlights. If you drill the bracket, which comes with the K2/K3 a little bit, you can use the original screw to mount the cam. - A very good place for the GPS is on top of the tank/airbox, right under the tank cover. I used velcro strips to mount the GPS and two adhesive cable ties to route the cable down at the side. That way the mechanic has not problem to remove it for service and the GPS is completely hidden. - The remote control can perfectly be placed on the USB Port.
Really interesting. I prefer the K2 over the K3 because like you, I want it just for evidence and I don't want to stare at a bulky controller on the handlebars all the time. I fitted the GPS unit behind the left hand cover, velcroed to the back of the cover. On my last GS I fitted the front camera to the indicator bolt, but on my new GS I have used the Innovv front bracket, which is an option, and that places the camera further forward and higher. I wasn't that impressed with the quality of the finish on the bracket, and it was expensive, but it does finish off the installation very nicely. Thanks for the vid.😎
the k3 does have its advantages if you need to press the incident video/photo button and it then saves it to a separate file so you can't accidentally delete it. Quality of the k2/3 cameras is the same I believe . not brilliant , ie GoPro quality, but good enough to get you out of a jam incase someone accused you of doing something you didn't . didn't know about the INNOVV bracket thing 👍ride safe
if it were me I would go with a 4k camera or get a cheap GoPro which has image stabilisation , you will get wobbly images due to the bikes being thrashed , unless you ride slowly! lol.
@@gsd32i Very true, but really need 4 camera's as we will be tailing each other and swapping mid session, plus a pair of GoPro's would be more than 1/2 what we paid for each bike. 😞
21:29 stupid question but which is correct the text or how you wired it? as the text says red to black and black to orange, but when you skip to the wired up part it’s black to black and red to orange.
Hi, have a look here and scroll down. The video I did is correct , god knows why I typed that in , I will amend the description. To save any doubt ref what color goes where have a look at this forum page and scroll down a bit. www.bmwlt.com/threads/denali-lights-wiring.194205/
Just wondering what a large crime area has to do with someone accidentally knocking your bike. Surly having the parking mode is a main feature you would want regardless of the crime stats in your area?
Hi 👋 Like I said each to their own . Hopefully won’t regret the non park mode decision , which you can disable in the INNOVV settings! Crime stats , areas with high % tada’s/ tampering with vehicles etc etc yup go to the battery 👍my bike is locked away in my garage , if it were left overnight on the street then I would definitely wire to battery . But for now it’s to the ezcan .
Hi Paul…. Trying to install a K5 to a cansmart. Done everything as per these instructions. Configured the cansmart to a 2 amp accessory but the camera is dead. There is no power to it at all. I’ve changed all the connectors from the cansmart to the DC converter but the whole thing lacks any power. Any suggestions pls.
Hi, just off the top of my head, what connectors are you using to connect the K5 lead into the cansmart? could you have put the power supply into the plug that then goes into the cansmart the wrong way around? Have you tried connecting the k5 direct to the battery to see if its functioning properly?
@@gsd32i ive put a connector onto the DC converter cables (red, yellow and black) and connected it to the blue circuit on the cansmart and configured it as an accessory. I can’t wire it directly to the battery now without undoing all the heat shrink connections. The Innov app says connect device. There is no Innov WiFi on my phone and no lights on the remote. Seems pretty dead.
@@philc7135 have you tried a different input into the cansmart ? Are you sure you have the cables in the correct way before u heat shrinked it , I guess you put a plug onto the K5 cables ….. I would try a different input plug failing that there is a possibility you connected the wires the wrong way ?
I am using the camera for evidential purposes so even with a bit of the mudguard in the frame , it’s not an issue for me , also it’s less conspicuous on the lights , not by much !
@@gsd32i no doubt, you do a nice clean job. Have a number of bikes, triple black and some classics and just trying to work out a cost effective solution, guess I'm down to a front / rear helmet cam I guess.
Benefit of putting it on the EZ can? What is the benefit, which is a question nobody answers. I have hardwired my K5….not sure if I want to put it on the EZ can. So far the only thing I heard is that it is NOT a benefit. You lose the motion sensor for parking……
Hi, simply didn't want to hard wire it to the battery, I had a spare channel so utilised that. TBH my bike is garaged and I am not fussed about not having it. But some may prefer to have the motion sensor activate when connected directly to the battery . Choices 🙈 ride safe.

I deleted the bulky fuse as it is not needed when going through the EZcan. The EZcan can be programmed for proper amperage. One less item to go bad.
Yes , I may do that . One of those rare 5 minute jobs !
