      Predators overachieved this year. That Nyquist-Forsberg combo really carried their offence all season. Preds put up a good effort but I honestly think this was by far the slowest series of the 8 in the first round.

    • @thomasjackson1205
      @thomasjackson1205 16 дней назад +1

      @@howinyee5962 definitely a slower series but that's not just on the preds. Both teams played stifling defense and had stellar goalieing. LA and either of these teams mightve been similar or more so. And yeah our top line carried us a lot but our fourth line generated a lot of O time FOR the top line and generally all lines worked as a team as opposed to needing stars on the top line. If we work on our special teams and add pieces to the middle lines we might be able to push more offense consistently without resorting to smothering defense. Overperforming? Sure. But underrated by many? Absolutely.

      It continues to be wild to me that people think Edm is going to steam roll the canucks. The Canucks swept Edm this year.. including a game just a couple of weeks ago. Nashv. was the hottest team in the second half of the season with a 40 goal sorcerer, a high scoring Norris calibre Dman and a vezina calibre goalie and the Canucks just beat them in 6. The nucks are deeper at every position. I predict the canucks are absolutely going to dominate this oilers team 5 on 5 offensively and defensively. The only chance the oilers have in this series is if the league gifts them tons of power plays... which they probably will.

    One of the gutsiest, most disciplined game I’ve ever seen from the Canucks. Boeser is my pick for the series standout. He was mostly clutch & made good things happen. His smarts on the ice is impressive to watch. That pass he made Suter was sublime. Silovs has also really cleaned up his positioning. He was excellent tonight. I am so impressed they came away with a win. I honestly didn’t think they’d pull it off with losing faceoffs & low shot total. But this game they earned it by taking over as the play went on. Very impressive win with a young goalie on the road.

    As a Vegas fan, I'd argue that Demko's complete shutdown of our offense in games 5 thru 7 in the bubble was the most impressive perfomance I've seen from a Canucks goalie. He almost single handedly stole that series away, and destroyed us for the next round afterwards. And I'm pretty sure he was the backup for Markstrom at the time, so to a fairly new hockey fan like me at the time, he was virtually unknown. Dude impressed me a lot that year!

    Congratulations Shannon! From a die hard Preds fan - it sucks but I’m proud of our team. No one believed we would even make the playoffs and despite a few stumbles they played their hearts out. May the Canucks beat Edmonton but I’m still pulling for the Canes to win it all!

    I’m glad you’re happy. You, and the Canucks, deserve it. I hope a Canadian team wins the Cup - even if the Canadian team I was rooting for is now out. (My favorite team didn’t even make the playoffs.)

  • @mNag

    Grats THG. I know you just did that whole "canadian teams aren't a thing video" but I really like seeing more Canadian teams advancing. We can't ever count on the Maple Leafs it seems, but at least the Canucks aren't playoff choke artists, and I'm really happy to see a Western Canadian Conference semi-finals. If the Canucks take out my Oilers, I promise I'll hop on the bandwagon... but until that point, we gonna be enemies =P

    In the end, the dominant theme of the series was the stellar job by both defence groups. Shots were down, plenty of blocks, not much in the way of flurries. Mostly one shot and out all series long. Both groups kept forwards away from the front of the net. It was textbook stuff. I expect the next series against Edmonton will look quite different, but I'm very encouraged with the Canucks defence. This is a strong group and they're not an easy one to play against. If Canucks get solid goaltending (from whoever), I like the Canucks chances of winning the series.

    very happy for vancouver and rick tocchet , he was thrown under the bus here in phoenix
    and asked to perform the impossible as head coach of the coyotes ,, no money spent on players , horrible owner who took on dead money contracts just to make league minimum payroll, tocchet never said a negative word , just did the best he could with what he had to work with .the canucks got him mid-season last year ,the players give it 100 % for him in vancouver , probably overmatched vs edmonton , but they play hard as a team.
