Epic. Had me on the edge of my seat for first 25 minutes. After watching I had to remind myself you only did one night, felt like you’d been up there a week!! Without contradiction your best video to date. More like this please totally inspiring. 😁
Brilliant Dave from start to finish 👏, had everything, epic drone footage, great timelapses, scrambles, waterfalls the lot. Found yourself a nice quiet spot, ideal! The mountains really do look Brilliant and atmospheric draped in the clouds, definitely looked a hard hike too . Thanks for taking us on your adventure mate, atb Mick 👍
Quality. Cracking video, your snippits of honesty about little cock ups, how your feeling and bloomin people up there on 'your mountain' made me chuckle, its exactly what I'm thinking or doing in the mountains 🤣
Dave , a big big thank you once again. Tbh, showing those waterfalls was just lovely ! As you say , you camp for the views - and it didn't disappoint. Would love to have a swim in those crystal clear pools. I always look forward to your videos,.... Look..... at ... that!! Indeed 👍👏😊
You've produced a truly inspirational video here Dave. I think it encourages people who walk and wild camp to just get off the beaten track. If we all spread out and don't concentrate ourselves in the same spots then the Lake District would be a better place. I don't get why people head to popular spots. Confuses me that. Anyway, that waterfall! On a hot day it'd be amazing to cool off in one of those pools. Keep the vids coming mate.
Fantastic Dave, brilliant video and packed full of brilliant footage, complete treat and as you said a remote part - which means next stop to look at the maps! Love it ATB, Steve
A man after my own heart (digging deep) An epic film in an epic part of the lakes (the big guys) 🏔🏔 a really engaging watch! thanks for this 🙌👍😊 Very Best wishes Simon👍
Fantastic!! Loved this and really felt like I was there with you, very atmospheric and remote. Upper eskdale has an eerily beautiful look and feel to it. It seemed both a mental and physical challenge that one, it usually ends up like going off the beaten track into unfamiliar territory but they're the best ones that stay firmly in your memory. Loved it, thanks for sharing it.
Great watch as always Dave. Interesting to see the change of plan, and also your honesty towards the end 😅 Tough route, especially with that lump on your back! 🎒👏🏻
Hello Dave ,i couldn't agree more with comment below ,yes loved your video as always, although had to watch in 2 halves ,as i fell asleep half way through!,not because it was too long ,i could happily watch for 3 hours!but because of my own silly fault for watching it too late ,but lovely way to fall asleep !Its just so relaxing and calming,so continued part two last night !I thought the water falls were spectacular, just awesome really ,and the water looks so clear ,its so nice it doesn't appear to be spoilt by us humans. Also loved seeing the swirling mist ,i know you don't get the views ,which is a shame but still there is something about swirling mist and clouds ,so atmospheric ,l love it when looking at the moon through binoculars and suddenly you get just swathes of cloud passing over ,it's quite magical.I was also very impressed that somehow your clothes and tent were colour coordinated with the landscape !very clever if it was intentional ,and if not still very clever !I was wondering what the poor dead animal was in the bog?, suppose it must have been a sheep maybe? what a horrible way to go .yes i'm sure you have to be so careful ,its easy done .Also just a thought about your milk problem from a few video's ago,i'm sure you have thought of everything ,probably bit of a waste of time to suggest ,but have you tried freezing the milk in a small container and taking out just before you set off ,that way by the time you need it it will be slowly defrosting and should keep it fresh for much longer ,because UHT milk has its uses but its pretty awful!,Its worth try ,but again i'm sure you have already tried ,still no harm in mentioning .I hope you are feeling better now ,as you did sound a bit croaky ,its good to be so determined but always listen to what your body is telling you ! Anyway hope you had loads of lemon and honey drinks when you got back and i was glad to see at the end of the video your feet were still attached to you legs !Take care and thanks again for showing us all some amazing scenery especially after being poorly .Kind regards again Jane
Brilliant video, absolutely love watching them and seeing your channel develop. Find it very peaceful to watch when feeling a bit stressed. You’ve inspired me to start my own channel 😊 it’s by no means at your level but it’s nice to look back on so thanks 😊 Jo
That was a great video Dave, some really professional filming and the drone footage was excellent. Make it sound like i’m a photographer… i’m not! But watching this is like watching the tv. Some bloody lovely plunge pools too for when its a wee bit warmer.👌👍🙏⛺️🥾
Hi Dave woww what a trooper going out when feeling I’ll. I can say after covid you do get BOADY joint pain legs arms ect loved watching this camp great views stay safe you are looking well. Love your passion 👍 see you in the next one 👍
Dave you can fix leaks on the bottle with Park patches or similar. They’re meant for bike punctures. I’ve fixed mine with these. Get them from bike shop. They are self adhesive leak proof and do NOT come off. They are the size of a postage stamp. You can get similar which are bigger.
Brilliant video Dave with some stunning views from the pitch. I can’t believe you were not tempted to a dip in some of them pools they looked gorgeous. 👍👍
Another superb video Dave, hopefully I'll bump into you in the hills and say hello one day, stay healthy and looking forward to the next video already!
Finally found the time to catch up with this one. Great video mate. Really enjoyed it. Shame you didn’t get brighter weather but we can’t have it all the time can we. Look forward to the next one. Cheers Rob 👍😊
Beautiful video. Love the enthusiasm and knowledge. I have hiked for many years as that’s my peace, freedom and comfort with solitude. I work long days as a chef 12 hour days and when I get home to wind down with a few beers, this shit calms me right down and makes me look forward to my next days off. Currently training my almost 2 year old German Wire haired pointer to be with me, he’s a handful and would end up with a chewed tent. 🤣🤣
i see where you were coming from when you said your'e heart sank coming off hardknott & seeing that slog down the road mate 😂 cracking area that just up top of cam spout its a stunning waterfall that one..cracking stuff as always pal take care..Andy.
Great trip Dave, thanks so much for taking the time to make stuff like this for us. Don't worry about your legs, as an endurance runner I know what it's like to have nothing left in your legs. As you've been out with Covid, your body has stopped storing as much energy in your legs because it wasn't needed. Ad you get out and push yourself your body will learn it needs to store more energy in those legs of yours. Keep going it'll come back. All humans have nearly unlimited fat storage in their blood stream, if it's hard, you can always slow down so that your body can use fat to get energy into your legs (fat is slower to convert into energy). You brain is used to a particular speed, your legs can't manage it yet. Keep going, you'll get back to normal fitness.
Thanks for the advice Matt, really appreciate it👍. Had other stress in my life for the last 18 months which also ain’t helping. Just trying to keep going. ATB - Dave
@@TheSoloSummiteer Understand Dave, life does send us these challenges. It will pass, you will be able to view it in the rearview mirror. You will learn from it, but it will change you, some positives, some negatives. What those are and how those changes manifest will not be clear until you can look back.
Really enjoyed the longer length of video, the varied content makes it interesting till the end. Fantastic drone footage, it really gives a feel for the landscape. Thank you and hope you've recovered now!
Just watched your long video of your camp among the Scafells. Great photography entertaining as always with you Dave. Shame you didn't get your second night. Bloody good video just the same. Thanks for the entertainment!👍
Great film Dave, I know it was a bit cloudy over Hard Knott - a shame the views from there of the Esk valley, the Scafells, Bowfell & Crinkle Crags are brilliant especially at sunset in the summer
This is a stunningly good video Dave. You acknowledge your fears and concerns but you are always so calm and in control of things. Inspirational stuff.
Great video Dave, very much enjoyed seeing an area I’ve not been too in the lakes, the drone footage through the gorge at the waterfalls was stunning 👍🏼 👏
Only 12 mins in and loving it Dave. Currently watching this/you from on top of Ingleborough tonight on my 10th proper wildcamp and for me, the highest yet. Peach of a day for it after the Trafford Centre like crowds departed..🤣 to be expected tho! More power to you 🙏🏕️💪 back to the video now.. 👍
Ah Dave that looks so good nice and peaceful no one around and all the open spaces makes me feel better just looking at it great vlog thanks for the efforts 👍
Another absolute beauty Dave ! So well filmed and edited, thanks for the inspiration. Although you do look like you need a breather mate....but not for too long 🤣
Absolutely loved this one Dave! It even helped me get around the hills this weekend with my own covid hangover. So thank you! I was telling my partner about it when we were out walking and wildcamping in the Peak District. Then today we came home and watched the rest of this. Lovely to see you out enjoying and pushing yourself, so inspiring and uplifting, thank you!! £8 for porridge though?! 🤣
Did this route up to scafell and was lucky enough to find a spot on top just big enough for a tent, possibly two but twos not needed with solo missions 👍🏼👍🏼
What a fantastic vlog :) love the long ones... Was following on outdoor active all the place names ... Love the humour you know what that means" "I won't be going down there" lol brilliant... Epic.... If you want to see walls walls and more walls pop over to the Mourne Mountains for a vild camp you won't regret it.... It's only up the road from you :) thks again brilliant
Well Dave that looked z bit sketchy and dangerous. I liked the valley with the river though. That might be a place for me but need to look at where best access to it.
Fantastic Dave. My absolute favourite area of the lakes nailed in one video. Best view in the lakes is that one from Long Green overlooking Great Moss and the surrounding summits. Shows how much more you are able to explore when you’re not trying to cram things into one day😊 Special thanks for sharing this one. Cheers 👍🏻
fantastic video dave as always . did a camp in and around great moss myself a few weeks back absolutely stunning area . keep up the great work really inspiring💪🏔💪
Really enjoyed that mate! Great watch before a night shift and got me thinking about planning my next adventure! Neglected it since getting out for the first time, but a little bit of inspiration right there! Cheers mate, all the best 👍🏼
Terrific video, Dave. Love this area and I've sat overlooking the Great Moss many times from the Eskdale side, it has a quality of silence to it that is hard to describe but you conveyed it really well. I've been enjoying all your videos and it struck a chord when you said you seek out camp spots you've not tried before and that are isolated. I do the same, although knee problems lately have restricted my camping to day trips. Have you seen/got the book the Tarns of Lakeland by John and Anne Nuttall? They've pretty much mapped every speck of blue in the Lakes and browsing their book has given me lots of ideas over the years for exploring new areas/new routes. All the best.
@@TheSoloSummiteer Maybe you should! I'm never keen on following routes in books but I do find them useful sometimes for research and to give me ideas. The Nuttalls particularly are very good at giving history of places and they're very thorough. They covered 'specks of blue' I had missed entirely on the maps! Looking forward to the next video.
Duomid looking the biz up there Dave , and yes I concur you found solice in the lakes on a bank hol weekend . I just used a self adhesive patch from my bike puncture repair kit to fix my holed Katadyn 👍 Probs overdone it mate still having the covid hangover 😂😂 atb Dave
I did the exact same thing. Went out a few days after a negative Covid test. Thought I would be fine and the happy adrenaline of just being up there would see me through. Unfortunately it didn’t. No energy. I got half way up Scafell and had to turn back. And if I’m being honest it took a couple of months to feel fully back to normal. Horrible virus !!!
Becoming my favourite channel,I even ventured out last week to the same spot you camped at near Hardknot pass, the one with the world's smallest tarn, had a very good night, with plenty of stars.
Ps, in answer to your question about video length imo it's fine, for me it boils down am I being entertained. As someone else said I'd watch your stuff over tv any day
sorry you're feeling poorly. I had to go to the hospital as I had awful vertigo due to covid and was told I would feel poorly again around day 8 negative and I did. give yourself time to recover ❤ awesome video again btw!! hope you feel better very soon xxxxx
Awesome video mate really enjoyed watching this at work! Love the drone footage gives a perspective you obviously just can’t get with your own eyes even when your there it’s beautiful. You pushed yourself there Dave mentally and physically great to see you keeping positive, good on you 👊🏻🙌🏻 ATB Dan
Awesome Dave. I was looking in that direction when doing my last I'll Crag vid/camp, and saw it on Google earth! Fantastic location. And planning but flexibility is definitely the way!...Great footage again. Those clouds do give it a feel. Breakfast with a view huh! Basically, another nice film mate 👌
Abolutely epic mate! I've recently started wild camping in the lakes.. this video has inspired me to trust my instinct and look for them camping spots that aren't so well known. Ive been following your videos for a while and look forward to watching them. Everything is on point. the content, the cinemtic drone shots and the music. PERFECT. keep it up! hope to see you on the trail one day! -Sam
Cracking vid the extra length makes it better to see the whole area rather than quick snippets.even with the clagg some stunning views.i totally agree though it's a different ball game with the big pack on rather than the day bag.its always a gamble with the parking I normally get there early to get a spot but then it's up side is it gives me plenty of time and I'm not rushing to get to where I'm going to camp.
I thought the music at the start was 10cc I'm not in love to begin with lol. Oh I know what you mean as mentioned in your last video about you not feeling great in the next one and the covid hangover. But thankfully you got out and a great video as usual 👏 👍
I like Scafell - very quiet compared to its near neighbour, and there is a very sad and atmospheric double WWII crash site near Slight Side if you wish to pay your respects on the way up or down. Plus the Woolpack at Boot is rather a hoot if you don't have to drive anywhere after :-)
awesome as always Dave and great to read recently you are feeling like you are on the mend. Quick question, between camps how do you clean / store your BeFree filter system, I use mine for ultra races but always wandered how others store them between uses. Keep on sharing the adventures Dave, for us home workers its a real treat to have you on in the background whilst glazing over looking at spreadsheets!! ATB
Thank you. It’s just a generic phone clamp with a small tripod attached. Attached a few elastic hair bands to this and clip it to a carabiner on my rucksack 👍
For breakfast, I make up the following: Oats, coconut Y food, fruit, nuts and seeds. Equal quantity of each. Around 240g will give you 1000 calories. A great start to the day, and a fraction of the cost of expedition food 👍
Hi mate, been watching your videos the last few days. Great effort in this one, it’s not easy when you feel rough. Quick question, I am doing a long distance walk in a couple of weeks, the tour of the Lake District. The route goes up to Scarfell pike via great moss. Which is the best way around great moss? Stick close to the river, or stay wide the other side? Thanks
Really enjoyed this Vlog Dave (avid watcher of all you work :-) Having done Scafell via Lords Rake and having descended the way you did via Foxes tarn - brought back great memories. I'd love to do the same route but worry about parking - where exactly did you park please? Would you mind sharing? For some reason I have always fancied wild camping at Foxes tarn - there looks to be a small grassy pitch - any thoughts?
Many thanks Graham. I parked at Brotherikeld for this trip. Know what you mean about Foxes but it’s in a bit of a hole with only one view out. I may feel a bit claustrophobic. ATB Dave
Dave, save the filter on the katadyn and by a hydrapak collapsible bottle for about £15 cos the filter will fit in it and the beauty with em is they have a loop grab strap on em which means you can toggle it to your back pack with carabiner!! PS pukka video as per usual matey👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@benny_mc No, that’s not correct. In fact it’s hydrapak that actually produce the collapsible bottle for the katadyn BeFree anyway. Katadyn just produce filters. The Hydrapak bottle you can use as replacement on a damaged BeFree is called a ‘Crush’.
Brilliant again mate wasn't expecting that 1 it finished my birthday off nicely when that popped up last night 😁 isn't it a slog up there mate 😂 I had to eat something at the top of slightside to get some energy back in ⛰️

Many thanks Irene🙏🏻. I’m not familiar with the book but it sounds interesting. Maybe I should write my own 😁
@@TheSoloSummiteer Maybe you should!
Nice one and big thanks 🙏🏻
this was awesome i really enjoyed it. i'm planning to go to that fort soon, been dying to go there for ages
Big thanks BG. Hope you are ok 😷🙏🏻
@@TheSoloSummiteer I'm good now thanks 😊 xx
Awesome video mate really enjoyed watching this at work! Love the drone footage gives a perspective you obviously just can’t get with your own eyes even when your there it’s beautiful. You pushed yourself there Dave mentally and physically great to see you keeping positive, good on you 👊🏻🙌🏻 ATB Dan
Much appreciated Dan 😎👍
-Sam
Big thanks Sam 🙏🏻
Awesome vid mate 😊😊
Great video too
Cracking vid the extra length makes it better to see the whole area rather than quick snippets.even with the clagg some stunning views.i totally agree though it's a different ball game with the big pack on rather than the day bag.its always a gamble with the parking I normally get there early to get a spot but then it's up side is it gives me plenty of time and I'm not rushing to get to where I'm going to camp.
I thought the music at the start was 10cc I'm not in love to begin with lol.
Oh I know what you mean as mentioned in your last video about you not feeling great in the next one and the covid hangover. But thankfully you got out and a great video as usual 👏 👍
Fantastic Dave, sometimes no music and no commentary is enough - grand!
I like Scafell - very quiet compared to its near neighbour, and there is a very sad and atmospheric double WWII crash site near Slight Side if you wish to pay your respects on the way up or down. Plus the Woolpack at Boot is rather a hoot if you don't have to drive anywhere after :-)
Cheers Simon. I didn’t know about the crash site but will check it out 👍
Hi Dave, wow, nearly a feature length movie! Well done . U ok? Sounded a bit croaky.
Cheers Ian🙏🏻. I’m ok now thanks but did struggle on that trip 👍
Cracking 👍👌😁
awesome as always Dave and great to read recently you are feeling like you are on the mend. Quick question, between camps how do you clean / store your BeFree filter system, I use mine for ultra races but always wandered how others store them between uses. Keep on sharing the adventures Dave, for us home workers its a real treat to have you on in the background whilst glazing over looking at spreadsheets!! ATB
Cheers jon👍. I rinse out the bag and store it in the freezer.
Great video! What is the thing you're using to hang your phone from your shoulder strap? that's genious
Thanks
I guess you’ve partly answered the question with your trek out in the morning. I should of watched the whole video before I asked! 👍
Very good as always. Was this recent Dave, as thought you had Covid a while ago? Some effort to do Scafell after bout of that!
Cheers CS. It was Easter
Loved this Dave. When you park at Seathwaite Farm is there someone always there to take your money or do you knock at the farm ?
Cheers Max. There’s an honesty box in the field next to the car park 👍
Nice one, thank you
Really enjoyed this Vlog Dave (avid watcher of all you work :-) Having done Scafell via Lords Rake and having descended the way you did via Foxes tarn - brought back great memories.
I thought Katadyn had a proprietary thread and wouldn't fit on other bottles? I'll have to look into this if they fit on this bottle. Top tip👍
Nice one. Thanks 👍
Yeah, I have the 2l Hydrapak Seeker and it works nicely 😊 and doesn't weigh much (76g).
Thanks
Really appreciate it Anthony 🙏🏻
Get yourself a dehydrator. Simple to use and you soon make back the cost relative to what those pre-pack dehydrated meals cost.
Another great video Dave 👌 Is the z mat any good - I see that you use it in combination with an inflatable mat as well - is it good ?
Many thanks Mark🙏🏻. I really like the Z lite. Use it as protection for my inflatable mat and as emergency back up.
@@TheSoloSummiteer cheers 👌 do u have the z seat as well ?
No. Just a couple of those cheapo sit pads 👍
Thanks - you more than deserve a beer on me!
Really appreciate that Graham 🙏🏻
How many times have you had covid now mate?! Crikey
🤣 Cold hangover 😫. Love the content if only you had left that out.
Twice Simon

I’ll be back 😎👍⛺️⛰
Brilliant again mate wasn't expecting that 1 it finished my birthday off nicely when that popped up last night 😁 isn't it a slog up there mate 😂 I had to eat something at the top of slightside to get some energy back in ⛰️
Nice one Rob. Glad you enjoyed it my friend 🙏🏻
Thanks
Really appreciate that 🙏🏻
