Sure, it has it's share of trolls and a*hats, but most of us know how difficult it is to truly get in to Eve, and are only too willing to help new players take their first tentative steps. We want to encourage people to continue playing the game, not scare them away.
Eve Online is a game I played for 14 years. If you express any opinion on an Eve Online forum that the developers dislike you will understand what toxic is. You will be called a carebear which is a far worse degrading term than noob.
I have had death threats and been doxed playing Elite now that is toxic. I have been doing Elite RUclips videos for years. However I don't do ship build videos because people always go nuts about ship builds lol. Some people take ship building a bit far.
Well in all honesty, there are going to be idiots out there that you will encounter when you are playing either game. That's not to say that the games are bad games.. not at all. Just some of the players are a little more snobbish than they really should be about things they perceive that you may have done wrong. It's not right that they're doing that. And sending hate mail and messages to people. Sometimes you have to take it with a grain of salt and just ignore the Idiots. If you enjoy playing the game, don't let the snobs keep you from having a fun experience in Elite Dangerous and exploring the galaxy while trying to achieve as many credits as you possibly can snag while you're at it.
Elite and War Thunder are the two most toxic communities imo. Both of them have this unhinged playerbase that seems to not just kill for no reason (in War Thunder they teamkill) but actually seek to be as horrible and rude as possible to new players
Problem with ED community is that they are very close. If you are not a super fanatic ED player they are already against you. There is also a weird hours-played hierarchy which is pretty gross in the ED community.
