- You who are not in “The Church”, You Know who you are. (Unam Sanctam Cathólicam et Apostólicam Ecclésiam.) (Extra Ecclésiam Nulla Salus.)
Pray for the soul of Fr Wathen. We need more priests like him today.
Father Wathen was right on
Fr Wathen was an heroic defender of the true Mass at a time when the Modernists had come close to almost suppressing it. His defence of the Salvation Dogma remains of extraordinary worth.
“ Come close”? The dear Father fought to expose their infiltration.
“Who Shall Ascend?” Is an excellent 2 volume book by Fr Wathen -- reading it now! The Council of Trent defines that JUSTIFICATION cannot take place without the SACRAMENT of Baptism.
What year was this?
He started out about baptism, but he lost his train of thought totally; I wonder if he believed in BOB and BOD. He never said.
His preaching sounds like it was infected with novus ordo theology. Sadly.
Why do people speak in Church voice? It doesn't add to what they're saying. I serious doubt Peter preached sing songy.
My condolences. I didn't know he had passed. I'm sure he was a great man. Although I disagree with his teachings, I mean no disrespect.
e. r.m. Father Wathen taught what Jesus taught. You disagree with Father Wathen because you disagree with revealed truth of Jesus Christ.
I understand that that this is his natural way of speaking. I wouldn't go that far as agreeing with me disagreeing with Jesus. I think his teaching is off.
He goes too far ( naturally) when he says that the Father “ almost” wanted Adam to sin… in order for the Reincarnation to take place. No. He had no right in stretching things that far. He took liberties that he had no right to take. But that happens to the best of us.
Adam sinned period. God did not “almost want” anything. That sounds like real Vatican 2 sect theology. God then acted from there. Period.
I am in the church(orthodox), but I do not go to church(communist).
My friend. I hear you. Please pray me and I will pray for you. So much confusion..Michael Hatem. NC, USA
I agree with exclusively salvation, but based on scriptures not the trappings. The Catholic Church is descendant from NT, but they have evolved and changed to much. They are no longer the same.
commodianus Other people reading and studying the Bible have a different sensibility of what the authority of the catholic church is. Many people are grounded in Christ who never been to a catholic church. . .
commodianus,
Once the Catholic went against scriptures, the development of doctrine was no longer Biblical. I can see churches coming up with practices that are necessary listed in the Bible, but that don't contradict the Bible. Once any church crosses that line, they've veered off the path.
Unity comes from following Jesus and the Bible authors teachings, not from imposed authority.
commodianus,
Are different sensibilities disqualified as not from scripture automatically if they're not Catholic, because they didn't respect what was already in place?
commodianus The Church is all believers who are saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus. The Church is not all in the Catholic doors.
"Different sensibility" can be a different attitude about the virgin birth. It can be a different attitude about taking authority from the Pope. Not following a certain tradition of man or adopting a specific historical precedent, like Catholicism, does not mean it is not respected. It means that in order to follow their own conscience, some have , in obedience, gone a different way. Their interpretation of the Word, in fact, IS what compells them.
Right, I understand that your references to I Cor. 1 and Romans 15 speak of unity and you infer form that that the Catholic church has stayed as one, while Protestants are in many splintered groups,. .
Where does it say in the Bible that the authority over Scripture is given to the church at large? Where is there even any direct reference to the authority of the pope?
salvation is through Jesus Christ, not if you're part of any specific church
Where does a Heretic go after God's judgment?
Well if that's true then it goes to follow since Jesus Christ founded 1 Church that would be the Church your salvation would depend on. The Catholic Church.
