I work as a chef at a retirement community, and I'm packing an overnight bag in case I get caught there during a snow storm. This video allowed me to Ranger roll my chef coat. Thank you.
I had heard about rolling clothes being a space saver, but never knew there was a name for it or even had anyone show me a good way of rolling them. you answered both those questions and potentially "bought" me more space in my backpack or pannier bags depending on if I opt to backpack or bike-camp I'm carrying gear for my Service Dog in addition to my own gear and I'm a size 3x in t-shirts so none of my clothes are overly compact using the only folding method I knew before watching your videos. I happen to have a granny cart filled with clean laundry, so I'm applying the technique from your video about ranger rolling a change of clothes for the day to that load of laundry to practice and who knows maybe even make my mornings a bit more efficient or at minimum make my dresser easier to find clothes in. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos, I do appreciate them not only for bike-camping or backpacking, but potentially for bringing a bit of sanity to the process of getting dressed for my day.
When I was at the airport I watched TSA unfold all of a Army guys beautifully rolled and organized carry bag. They had already x-rayed it so why they had to unroll all his clothes seemed like just harassment. I wish I could have served but sadly I couldn't. Thank You for your service to our Country.
Glad I found your videos. I made the mistake of not putting enough clothes in our unaccompanied baggage shipment. Between my husbands uniforms, the kids taekwondo outfits and our regular clothes, we are drowning in bags. This helps!
I was watching other videos on packing lightly and your video popped up on autoplay. I'm going to France for two months and am trying to pack as lightly as possible. After trying this technique out I can tell you the one thing I learned is to NEVER ranger roll a fur coat. Lesson learned for me. Love and light honey and happy travels!
Thank you! I'm in the Navy and changing duty stations, I had no hope everything was fitting in my seabag with the way they taught us to fold in bootcamp!
First rate video... in the U.S. forces we're issued ponchos of appx. 5ft x 9ft as a shelter/basha, and along with the shelter styles you demonstrated, we also use the "diamond" or "plough point" which requires only one tree/tent pole. Cheers !
That was very cool the way the ACU Jacket gets all rolled up. Thank you for sharing, this is helping me a lot. So, when I get to my Basic Training soon, I'll be ready to fold my clothe. Thanks!
Thanks for this. I just became a uniformed personnel here in our country and I'm packing my things for my tour of duty and I don't know how to minimize the space my delta uniform fits in my bag so thanks for this. 💪😁
I know this all to well. I grew up doing this my dad had me doing this every time we travel. My step dad too, my dad is a Marine and my step dad is a Navy Seal
Magnificent, somebody once told me that but I forgot it over time, now imma gonna start to pack stuff smart now, such a space saver it's awesome thanks !
Yes, especially if you ranger-roll it lol. Seriously though, as far as I know, you keep the uniform, i.e. ACU tops and bottoms, shirts, socks, etc., but you will have to turn in certain items, as specified in your OCIE/CIF records.
Never heard of ra anger roll before but I've been doing similar since I started backpacking from Oz to England when I was 13. Tightly rolled takes up less space.. and my sleeping bag was always the smallest :)
Ranger Rolling is what they do when they launch T-Shirts at/into crowds/audiences at events and stuff with T-Shirt Guns or whatever they're called right? (If you reply, if can please add what that T-Shirt Gun is called; Thanks)
i'm gonna abuse your kindness :D and i'm gonna make another question, to take part in an US military force, no matter which, u need to be an american Citizen?
Great vid.. civilian use,.. for going on an extended trip/vacation!!.. believe, you can PACK so much more,..- on a simple "carry on" baggage ARRANGEMENT!.. AND CAN CARRY MORE,-...FOR "CHECKED LUGGAGE", underneath the plane!.. IF YOU'VE GOT SUITS, OR ANY OTHER ITEMS THAT NEED PRESSED,,- MAKE SURE YOU HAVE/OR CAN GET A HOLD OF AN IRON,.. to press selected garments!.. I'm particular, .. but a quick wrinkle release, may do the trick for anybody else.. gonna need water/laundry drying machine to do so! 😗
doesn't seem to matter how many times i try this it never seems to go into the folded bit correctly :/ i have no idea what im doing wrong, i followed the video step by step
Oh it's no problem. ^_^ No, you don't have to be a citizen. In fact, I've met plenty of ppl in the Army who are not American citizens (or were not when they enlisted). There were four of them in my cycle in basic training, actually. You do have to be a permanent resident or on a certain type of visa to be able to enlist, though. You have to check with a recruiter on that. And, if you're not a citizen, you won't qualify to certain jobs in the military, either.
Yes, by buttoning up the collar and same procedure. I went from W.Camo 81's to ACU's within 4 years. The 81 material is a bit less "Giving", but after a few tries, they will "Sinch Up" the same. HOOAH

I love how it's the same technique for every clothing item. Makes this wayy simpler, thanks dude!

I am ever grateful to whoever came up with this technique.

That technique works with jackets without buttons (opened in front). And I thank you SO VERY MUCH for showing me this 🙏🏼
Man thanks for posting this series I totally forgot all about Ranger Rolls!

Thanks for sharing this info. I am about to move onto a yacht and stoage space is going to be a massive issue. This is perfect
I love your videos, thanks so much for sharing this. I travel all the time and this is going to make packing and unpacking so much easier!!

Great info. This will save me a lot of space when packing. Thanks you!
These videos are great, I'm using the ranger rolls to keep a change of clothes packed tight in my bugout bag. Saves lots of space this way :-)

Old but Gold tutorial ;)
Thank you so much. I was actually able to do this for my wet weather ACU top.
Never heard of ra anger roll before but I've been doing similar since I started backpacking from Oz to England when I was 13. Tightly rolled takes up less space.. and my sleeping bag was always the smallest :)

Any tips on how to ranger roll a long sleeve button down shirt with collar ?
Great! I learned a lot! I will do it! Thank you! 😃🤩
That's great I save lots space in my closet, thank you very much army man.
Would you recommend rolling the blouse and pants together?
this also works with the R.C.N, Work dress tops, thank you very much for the vid, very helpful :)
Can I use this roll style for Shirts? Will they wrinkle?
when you get discharged, can you keep your uniform or u need to leave it to the army?
Will this work with a USMC digital blouse?
you think you would be able to do one for a smock/field jacket?
Thx bro I’m using that trick for my Aussie army cadets biv
does this not make them wrinkled?

Very informative ! Maybe you can tell me how to roll up and put my wife in the wardrobe when I do not use it? :)
Does this also apply to the Combat Shirts to as well?
Hi, should I take off my patches before doing this?
Yes, that helps. You can put them in one of the front pockets, though
armygringo Thanks for the response! Putting them in the front pockets wont bend and ruin them?
Nah, it should be fine. :) You can also put all patches in a small ziploc bag or something, as an alternative
Navy taught us a slightly different way. We did it kinda similar to this. I like this way better
Can you make a video of folding or rolloing Apecs parka?
Very helpful!Thank you!
Would this also work with button up shirts?
I used to do something similar when I was in, but I would include my pants and t-shirt in with the tunic.
is it same to Ranger roll a flannel or no
i'm gonna abuse your kindness :D and i'm gonna make another question, to take part in an US military force, no matter which, u need to be an american Citizen?
what If mine comes with a hoodie... should I remove it and fold it into one pocket or keep it on and roll it somehow?

Great tutorial man, thanks!
Thank you been a while since I was in.
Thank you!
I am in navy cadets in Australia and our uniform is a lot thicker. Do you still think this will work?
I am in UK air cadets and our uniform is thicker as well, it works, not quite as well though and you need a MUCH bigger fold at the bottom :)
this is very helpful. you are awesome.
thanks just rolled my woodland jacket, just had to make a bigger fold on the bottom
thnks for ur great roll man!
Must have for packing multiple uniforms for the field
Could this be done for Gore Tex jackets/wet weather gear?
Thank you for your all sharing
THANK YOU for YOUR service 👍👏
Your ranger roll good to go but where?
Have a safe trip

Great tip!

Good job. Now you ave an ACU fleshlight
doesn't seem to matter how many times i try this it never seems to go into the folded bit correctly :/ i have no idea what im doing wrong, i followed the video step by step

Good luck! Thanks for the feedback. Don't forget to "like" the video :)

I could pack a whole thick jacket like this, not perfect for me but its better than average roll
Can we do the same for the old M81 Woodland BDU?
The collar part kinda worry me.

Dug Williams
Thanks.
***** No problem!
great! I can throw and play with my daughter :D while folding clothes.
Would be useful but unfortunately my company wants it to be rolled neatly only 6 inches wide
Thanks man :)
Thank you, thank you. ^_^ Share with friends please
You're welcome buddy
The folding of the full hand is so so hard
Good stuff
Perfect position to burn it and make it permanent brown / khaki color.
Thanks for sharing.
Ça marche avec les blouses de chimie !
Do you have any clue where to buy real acu bdu`s or close to the reals that will ship worldwide (or atleast all over europe)
Try amazon or a surplus store in your area
Matthew Howard i live in norway and surplus store sells only norwegian camo or multicam, either way i ordered from USA ;)
was helpful...thanks
Thanks man!
