    This type of video you make where we, get viewer, gets asked to think is something I'm enjoying. Not only because I love Moonlit Fantasy, but also because I love the idea of "what makes a hero" since on one side, someone could be a perfect hero, and on the other we see them as someone less

      These types of videos don't do well like BIG channels, but I enjoy asking things, brining up ideas, even if I think there right or wrong, does not matter, what matters is asking Why? How? ect and getting people to think more on topics and ideas.
      So happy you enjoy this type of content.

    I think the goddess, exemplifies the Greek pantheon, she has all the typical human frailties, but apparently unlimited power. The question is whether or not our protagonist has sufficient power to punish her for her misdeeds

      Perhaps that is technically correct in some settings but I don't buy it based on what I see the OP is posting about. A hero is a state-of-being that some people have and it usually, but not always, means that they are both willing and generally capable of helping the weak when they are being unjustly preyed upon by the strong -- this is especially true when the hero risks their own wellbeing in pursuit of protecting the weak. Being a hero has NOTHING to do with what other people think ... they could think you a villain through propaganda by an unjust monarch for example.

    I would argue that in the world they ended up in, they rely so much on the goddess that they take her word as gospel. If she claims someone is a hero, they don't question it. Though i suppose hero in that context would be more job title or character class and not so much a judgement of the person's character. As far as our world, society at large, in so far as the populace has a shared value system, determines heros and villans. Though, in this case, it seems like we define a hero on their actions. A hero is someone who does heroic things.

    small addendum to the hero's and villain's saying. a "villain" does not have to be a person per 'say a villain could be a runaway truck or a falling tree, a forest fire or a tyrannical government. what a person needs to become a hero is a cause that threatens someone that they can save.

    All this talk of heroes brought to my mind that one line from that Batman movie, about what hero they need or deserve.
    With 3 summoned heros in this story I was thinking about how I would divide them between need, want and desrve(from the perspective of the World or Hyumans), FMK style.
    Makoto is definitely not the hero they Want, but I can't decide if he's the one they Need to put the Hyumans and the goddess in their place, or the one they Deserve, because he's someone they look down at because of looks, but is the strongest being in the world and has no love for the Hyumans as a whole?
    Tomoki is definitely not someone they Need, nobody needs that jackass, but is he the one they Want because he's a shallow fukk boi like most Hyumans or is he the one they Deserve because.... he's a shallow fukk boi like most Hyumans?
    Hibiki they definitely don't desrve, she's waaaaaaay too good for this place. BUT, is she the one they need because she can inject some human decency into the world or is she the one they want because she's even more perfect than Tomoki appears to be?
    My selection would be: they need Makoto to smash hyuman supremacy and make the world a better place for demi-humans, they deserve the trash-heap that is Tomoki and most people would want Hibiki for the reasons I mentioned before.

    It doesn't matter what makes a hero because there's no set-in-stone definition. A hero is subject to change depending on time and location.

  • @davidbowen9596
    @davidbowen9596 6 месяцев назад

    The term hero has had its meaning changed to fit different narratives. It can be a kind of verb as in people that did something heroic like entering a burning building to save a life. It can also be a noun as in being named a hero before you ever did anything heroic such as the 2 heroes of this story. The word hero I believe was created to describe the action of someone that faced some danger to do something good. However by making it a noun you get so called heroes that are not actually heroic like Tomoki. What the heroes should have been called was champions not heroes. Perhaps that is a translation issue but I believe in the old Greek myths the chosen players of the gods were called champions.

    Just because a being has the title "goddess" or "god" doesn't mean they are good or evil. You can take Lloth from Forgotten Realms as an example. No one familiar with the goddess of the Drow would say she is good, in fact she is evil. Also it is quite obvious that this goddess did not create this world, she has just been put in charge of it as an overseer. If she had created it, there would be no demons or demi humans, none of those that she despises. If the example of Lloth is a bit obscure then take the whole of the Greek pantheon. There are times when any given greek god or goddess could fall into either of the good/evil categories. I actually like that analogy much better. The greek gods were selfish, and I think that lines up with this goddess much better

    if you think about it to the orcs, dwarves, mist lizards and other of the demi plane Makoto is a hero but to a hyuman he a ugly but powerful hyumna maybe hyuman demi human hybrid and if the found out the goddess that cast him into the wasteland he be targeted to be killed.

    While I do agree actions not decree makes a hero, we should also consider in universe morality which is often anchor around Devine decree so while we as outsiders would find the goddess fickle and sallow those of the world, or at least not inclined to be skeptical of her, would have little to no context of right and wrong beyond her.
    Note there is/was a school of philosophy that holds beauty as the highest good, granted many of it's arguments seem to start more from the position of good is beauty more then beauty is good

    A hero in the modern world acts without any reservations about helping another. See a person in need and go try to help without thinking "What's in it for me, or Should I help that race. " in Games The Hero is often a Title given to those who have done great deeds, or is given it by god or a higher power. This title comes with benefits, such as access to magic or powers that normally would not be able to be accessed. Often times the title can be taken away if that "Hero" does not act so Heroic and becomes a tyrant. It can also just be mistaken that the main protag in the story is the hero, no matter if that goddess says otherwise.
    One of my favorite Losses of the hero title is when the Narcissistic hero attacks his own allies in an AOE attack to hurt the boss knowing he can rez them later, and not caring if he hurt them, because they knew what they signed up for. He not only loses the hero title, but gains a Broken Oath Title which gets him assassinated by the kingdoms church.

And a 3rd person that was basically kidnapped. He was only fulfilling his Parent's pledge to the Goddesss so his older or younger sister wouldn't be kidnapped instead

    A hero in this story and most reincarnation stories is just a tittle, it doesn't require any merits, if the hero doesn't benefit the country or who ever summoned them they're thrown away and called a failed hero, but a hero nonetheless.

  • @Sithno
    @Sithno 6 месяцев назад

    to me ..a hero can not be defined by the Person ..but they are defined by the "times"
    in a Isekai we know the hero is a bastion of Purity ...or someone wronged seeking to undo those Wrongs
    in the modern world our current year ..its those who defend others who seek their own Self gratification through others misfortune wether its Stealing drugs murder and so forth Or by Saving Lives at Deaths Door or by Braving Dangers that seek to Snuff out life
    i know this is only 2 examples but look through the past and you'll see different Times Hero's dont meet with any one defining Trait that links them
    Which as i said a Hero is not Defined by a Person ...but by the Times they live in

    Ok, if we want to judge heroes, we need to judge objectively. Hibiki and Makoto are heroes, because I am certain they would save kittens form the street. Tomoki reeks like a guy who would kick a kitten. Kicking a kitten makes you a villain. The Goddess is probably not a super villain, but she is a narcissist. Makoto is a hero for his people, because he protects their races and solved their problems like the gorgons with their stone eyes. Hibiki just tries to help the country she was summoned to. And I bet she would save an injured kitten. True heroes save kittens. Villains mistreat kittens. So the Goddess is a villain for probably not liking dirty kittens that were on the street. Only villains do bad things to kittens. So what makes you a hero is saving kittens and puppies. Especially kittens.

    "Hero" is just a word at the end of the day, and the meaning of words changes depending on the culture you are in. You are speaking of the word "hero" like its a metaphysical concept in this world, but thats incorrect. In this world, a hero is a physical construct. It is what it is, which in this case, "A person summoned by the goddess to save the world" or whatever. Kind of like a "airplane" is a "mechanical device with two wings and an engine used to fly through the air." What you should be arguing here isnt the idea of a "hero", but rather what makes something good or evil. So yes, by this world's literal definition, Tamaki is in the most literal way "a hero" just a terrible one.

  • @10100rsn
    @10100rsn 6 месяцев назад

    I think the goddess may have some hidden intentions with what she's been doing. She might be playing dumb or she might actually be a dumb narcissist who sees the world as her plaything. She isekaied two more people that might have known the MC, why and for what purpose? I don't think it is just to play as heroes. Hibiki was bored and couldn't relate to her own friends, she was looking for adventure. Tomoki was bullied, had low self-esteem, flawed from the start and she still chose him. Tomoki was already a good looking guy but he wanted to change his appearance to be better looking and aside from hair and eye color he isn't that much different now. He never learned to really stand up for himself and he kind of gets power hungry thinking the world is his and everyone should accept it because he is the hero summoned to the world to save them, kind of like Subaru was at first. I just wonder what kind of plan the Goddess really has for the three isekaied characters. Is it sinister or is it just challenging and wholesome? idk. What demons has she prepared for them, or did they bring the demons with them?

    Problem is "Hero" is cultural thing, as is what is "moral".
    Ancient (classical, babylon, pagan) heroes was simply somebody powerfull that kick monsters and do thing that are impossible feats.
    In others cultures somebody with fawor of gods is a hero.
    With that definition all 3 are heroes.
    With modern west cultural definition only 2.
    But why you thing 50 year definition from one culture should be applied to renaissance level culture from other world.
    Historically leaders or others highest chose who was hero, rarely they was chosen by general consensus by some group of people.
    (and that only applied to thier sphere of influence, Dracula was cosidered hero when he was alive by west EU and scorge by Ottomans)
    World with proven and involved God would have that being as highest authority.
    Even in world without perceivable God as ours most what is moral and who is hero was chosen by highest religious autority (or military one),
    and we rarely chose to question why this that way.
