There are some very requested songs that absolutely need an argent metal cover (because star wars nerds like me) and they are Droid invasion march -> Duel of the fates. The themes of both of those songs are absolutely perfect for argent metal.
Some of those are terrifyingly expensive to license. Same with pop music so we probably won't get an argent cover of "All I want for christmas is you."

I actually got this wrong in a different video hah this plugin’s effect is upwards compression because when acting on audio it reduces the dynamic range. I suppose if the range knob is set so the plugin is only picking up some of the sound (and therefore making the loudest parts louder in contrast) it can act as an expander but that’s a side effect as opposed to an intentional design decision.
@@User-ik2kc the threshold (range) starts at 0 and goes downward to -100, anything crossing above the threshold is reduced in dynamic range by boosting the gain to 0db
expansion is the increasing of the dynamic range - the quieter parts get more quiet and the louder parts are get louder so the range between them is expanded.

And also, I really would like to know the types of crossovers used here ? Me would looove a linear-phase super OTT :D
@@younyounyoun. hah all good. Not linear phase yet but it’s coming later. The “100” isn’t a real tech spec since it doesn’t do what OTT does, it’s more like it will push your signal to 0db no matter how loud it is. I still use ott but for very different purposes cause they “feel” different if you get what I mean. The side effects created by the math of the argent comp is where the fun is.

geoff!! i asked you before but you didn't answer in your first doom compressor vid there was a demo "bass reverb with feedback" that had a stunningly awesome growl i absolutely must know how you achieved this
I think it was mostly a simple bass latch in serum, then Fabfilter Saturn 2 with “feedback” turned on, then some reverb, and then the doom compressor on top!
Let's say I want to make bad ass argent metal but I have 0 clue how anything about music programs work. How exactly do I use this? Is it an addon that requires some other program to use? Or would I just download it and then open an audio file with the compressor like anything else
It’s a VST/AU plug-in, so you would need to install it into the VST or AU folder of your audio program and then it will be available as an FX option to choose from
You mean like the waves ultramaximizer? Sorta but the flavor is super different. The argent comp kind of like the FL Studio Maxiumus + Xfer OTT but with all settings made even more extreme, and most importantly this plugin is cross-platform.

Yeah, try garage band for mac, or the intro versions of ableton live, cubase, or fl studio! All of them support VST3 / AU plugins as far as i know
