Great explanation. I only have one question: Multiple other resources I have come upon say that by time of birth there are around 1-2 million eggs while 400,000 at puberty. You said by time of birth there is 400,000 and about 40,000 at puberty. So I am just confused.
@12:00 you say ovum is in Metaphase II. Does that mean Metaphase II has been completed? What is the exact status at fertilization? And how does Meiosis II complete?

Primary oocyte and primordial follicle is the same thing?
Primary oocyte is a cell that is arrested in prophase 1 of M1, primordial follicle is: primary cell+follicular cells that surround the primary oocyte
You remind me of Mitchell from Modern Family
Why does some books say that primary oocyte is 4n?
Them authors are stupid🙂
Some authors mean 4 times the Chromatids by 4n
Very cool
Thanks!
Ur so good ❤
Its primordial* not premordial
AI, thnx
