"Safety third." I often say, "LOL," but I really mean it when I'm watching Dave. Great solution and props to the Amish folks in Indiana for the inspiration!
Dave , can do anything cabinet maker fiberglass repair welding carpentry electrical The list doesn’t end. He’s a man’s man and we all should be envious. As always Dave enjoy your skills and since of humor.
Thanks R Gregory. Jack of all trades, master of a couple. I have found that if you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself. At least you know who to blame. :)
Great ingenuity Dave !! You deserve the beers. Sometimes you just have to observe your surroundings for the solution to your problems. Learning a lot from you Dave.👍👍👍
Hi guys. So glad you guys are doing better. Hope you can make it to AZ cuz we need to sit and tell stories until the cows come home. Always enjoy your company.
I hope this was done way before your operation. Can't pick up a gallon of milk, let alone a generator. 😅😅 How are you doing? Great I hope. Dave is such a great builder, he is like MacGyver. 😅😅😅 You guys stay safe. Tell Dave the generator platform looks great. 👍👍
Love it when someone does some backyard engineering to solve a problem. Nice job! I will say I was holding my breath watching you lean over that table saw without a guard on it. 😳. I have a hell of a scar on my forearm from doing something similar (and consider myself lucky that's all I got). Hope Karen is feeling all well - the way she muscled up that gennie it would seem so! safe travels guys
Karen is always yelling at me for safety. I will say, that saw is over 30 years old and being a carpenter all my life, I've been lucky. Karen is doing well. Thanks
DIY works every time. Cindy always says I don't see it. I tell her just watch and you,ll get it. And poof. Where there was a pile of bricks before that the previous owner left I now have a koe pond and water fall in our back yard. Getting projects done slowly so we can sale a get on the road. 💕. Brian and Cindy "xtreambydesign with passion" glad to see Karen doing good.
Dave, you are a master at southern engineering!! Awesome solution. Kudos Karen, good to see you doing well. Looking forward to seeing you next year when we get our bricks sold. Benny and Liz.
That was actually just before Karen had her surgery. Not aloud to pick up anything for a week after the surgery. She's doing very well. We hit the road on Monday. Hope to cross paths one day.
@@WattsOnWheels I trust that she is doing well? My wife and I have our 5th wheel and Jack is working on our truck. We will start clearing our house and putting it up for sale spring of next year. We are also Thousand Trails members, so hope to see you at one of the resorts. Best wishes for Karen.
Dave you deserve 24 pack for the work and a fifth of Jack for the engineering you are definitely another McGyver and Karen I had to close my eyes when you lifted that generator please be careful and safe travels from Rick and Pam from southern Ohio at Big Bear Creek family campground
Thanks so much guys. We lifted that before my surgery. No way would I have done that afterwards. Dave is definitely a MacGyver and you need to be with an RV. :)
I have projects that I have in my mind and have to change things many times to get the desired result. I am not an engineer, but they have problems too.
Yeah, my wife says I'm an Engineer-should-have-been. The more you think on things, the more ideas you get and hopefully get to the point that you feel you can start the project and should be successful. If not, try, try again.
Now that it sits a little higher it won’t interfere with your rv will it? Outher wise looks pretty cool. To bad you couldn’t mount it to the deck some where. But I see you are limited for space. Good job Dave
Height is no problem...that's why I flipped the original platform over to save some space. 😉 We like having it attached like that because we have been in places where we needed the generator and the truck was parked elsewhere.
I’m impressed, I thought when I lived in my Alfa full time I had a lot of tools. I now only travel 6 months a year so I try to do the upgrades and repairs once I get home. A friend has that generator but after several different ways they ended up getting a Idaho Tote single wheel behind their fifth wheel. Would you have room to mount it on yours?
I actually did that rebuild while we were still at the houseboat, but I do have quite a few tools with me on the RV/Truck. Unfortunately, we do not have any room on the tote for the generator.
Dave can sure do it all. Was this filmed before Karen’s surgery? I hope your recovery is going well and your travel schedule starts soon. Safe travels.
I explored that, but would still have to mechanically fasten the platform to the carriage and would need to add an air regulator valve. Trying to keep it simple, but yes, that would work.
4 months now, how's the spring setup holding up? I was wondering how the genny would ride and stay secure should a spring fail or break. Was air ride an option like an airride hitch?
This was done while we were still at the houseboat so my big tools are there. When we hit the road I will have hand saws, air compressor, welding equipment and other smaller tools with me. Keep them in the drom and storage boxes in the truck and a few items in the RV basement.
"Safety third." I often say, "LOL," but I really mean it when I'm watching Dave. Great solution and props to the Amish folks in Indiana for the inspiration!
Karen is always harping on me about safety. Safety third always gets her . :)
You two are just the cutest damn couple to watch!!
Awww, so sweet of you Karen.

Now that is an interesting chop saw. SOOOO nice to see us old people using our imagination. Something the younger set don't have.
So true about the younger set. And they are going to take care of us when we are too old to take care of ourselves. Yikes.
Dave My Hero. The shock and suspension master
Thanks CS. We'll how it does on our next trip out to AZ.
Balls of fire there Dave!
Whew! A close one! Might have had to use a beer to put out the fire.
Great ingenuity Dave !! You deserve the beers. Sometimes you just have to observe your surroundings for the solution to your problems. Learning a lot from you Dave.👍👍👍
Thanks SC. I appreciate that.

Hi guys 👋...love the idea...you always come up with a good Solution.....glad to see you guys are doing OK ....stay safe...J&A

You're right, that was a few days before the surgery. Dave is a MacGyver and it's a good thing when you have an RV.
🐕🙋♀️🙋♂️... nice job with your buck board set springs. Thankfully you didn't burn your chestnuts on that open flame. 😂😂
Thanks 👍 I know...and it's not even Christmas yet. Do you smell something burning?

There ya go...gotta have vision. The koi pond sounds cool. Love the sound of water. Keep it going so you can get on the road.

Nice! Particularly, I love the attention to detail = orange shocks. 🙂
Thanks so much. We like the orange too.

Hugs back at ya Betty.
That Dave is a master of everything I got a hubby like that too we're lucky wife's Karen.. Hope you are doing well ❤️🩹
We are very lucky. Saves a ton of money and time too. 👍😁💪
Want did you do for work? Plus It is nice to see you guys again.
Was a master builder and carpenter. Thanks for watching.
👍👍
Hi Mike. Thanks for watching.

Love you guys! Any chance you will be hitting the west coast TT anytime soon?
You can see our schedule on our website...heading to Arizona this winter and Idaho, etc. next summer.
I’m impressed, I thought when I lived in my Alfa full time I had a lot of tools. I now only travel 6 months a year so I try to do the upgrades and repairs once I get home.

Yes, that was a few days before surgery. Got the OK from the doc today to travel. We leave Monday working our slow trip out to Arizona.
Pretty neat idea. I think a small air bag like the sleepers ride on could be used to allow it to float.
I've looked at air ride but it was too expensive. So far the springs have held up well and we've been from GA to AZ and back.
Next time I see you I see I need to leave you with some safety glasses
I know, I know....Karen is always yelling at me. Thanks for caring.
Do you have a cover or canopy for the Honda to keep the rain off?
We sure do. www.amazon.com/dp/B095RN5421?ref=exp_wattsonwheels_dp_vv_d
Hey, great job, can you tell me how tall the unit is without the wheels? Thanks!
Will do ...see the questions in your previous comment so I get the measurement that you want.
Can you tell me, is the bolt pattern the same for the axle as the legs?
Not sure what you are asking. There is no axle on the generator platform.
Where do you get the tools do you carry them or do you rent them
This was done while we were still at the houseboat so my big tools are there. When we hit the road I will have hand saws, air compressor, welding equipment and other smaller tools with me. Keep them in the drom and storage boxes in the truck and a few items in the RV basement.
watch the sparks flying at your crotch area ouch lol!!!!
Well it is nearly Christmas. Roasting chestnuts a little early.
There is the ole suburban
Yep. Hard to believe it's 16 years old.
Go Karen Go!
💪👍🍸😁
